    Because of your video I just did this our home. We are renters and the carpet was nasty and old. Our landlord is wonderful and lets us do whatever we want here and even she is in love with the results. Thank you for sharing. I learned so much and your tutorial saved me a lot of mistakes. I wouldn’t have sanded them before the last poly coat bc I wouldn’t have known to do so.

    For ALL thinking this sanding is wrong, this is EXACTLY what they do to high-end coustom cabinets. The position in the cabinet factories is called 2nd finish sander, and Yami is correct, it absolutely has to be done for the perfect finish. Thank you for the detail on the appliances, THIS is what I was wondering about for mine.

    Nice job. If was to do a job like that i would just rough sand very little sanding just enough to clean the plywood. Then i would get a test piece and stain it. I think little to no sanding would enable the stain to penetrate the wood better vs sanding it with 220 grit.

    I’m looking into redoing my bedroom floor and was looking for cheap alternatives other than tile and vinyl flooring. This looks to be a good option. However, I do have a question about the gaps on the wood. In some areas I noticed that it seemed to be a bit more noticeable than in other parts, maybe that has something to do with the way the wood lays? Is there a way to fix that? It’s not bad, I just worry that something will get caught in the groove and it would be difficult to clean up

    • @TheLatinaNextDoor
      @TheLatinaNextDoor  Před 10 měsíci +1

      We poured poly in those areas to try and prevent, but on occasion small stuff would get caught and I would just vacuum it up. This plywood flooring solution was best for us at the time due to the fact that wood prices were much cheaper back then. Everyone who came over loved our floors and they looked great even when we sold the house. There are other more cost effective and time efficient things we can choose from now. Hope that helps!

    Re : fridge and stove... If you are in the same situation as these folks... Consider moving the fridge out of the room temporarily.. It plugs into any outlet. And consider using a simple hotplate.. You can get them for 24$or less... And move the stove out temporarily... However if you need an oven during this process... Your stove will NOT plug in anywhere.... So you could use the hotplate instead of oven.. Or use a 6 slice countertop oven... Or cook ahead of time... And just reheat in microwave.. It's just a 3 to 5 day process... So plan ahead.. Or use neighbours oven if needed... But you can move your appliances out of the room until floors are done

    Question ok I live in a house that's 130 years old. Has been in my family for 90 years. We are trying to pick options for flooring. We do have kids and pets but vinyl plank looks good but it's very expensive to install and we have to replace the old subfloor and old plywood. I want flooring that lasts, durable but looking for more affordable options. Could we do something like this or, what would you recommend? Any advice would help, thank you 😊

    • @TheLatinaNextDoor
      @TheLatinaNextDoor  Před 2 lety

      To be quite honest with the current market inflation this wouldn’t be worth it (this video is a couple years old). Honestly vinyl plank flooring will come cheaper than this and while labor can add up the labor for this was extensive. We saved by doing it ourselves but for the amount of work we did if you hired out the labor would be a lot as well.

    You’re just supposed to push the applicator, not push-pull like a mop. And when using the applicator to apply the stain, you dip it in the stain in a paint pan and then wipe off the excess. That’s why you were having unfavorable results with that tool. But the floors look great, good job!
