NYC is real driving , the closest I been to driving there is Newark ,NJ, I believe most drivers need that experience because it's tough
I hate getting in pickles 🤦🏽♀️ my first words are always “lord have mercy” 😂. I missed a turn in Cali and for about 15 mins my life was over 😂 I was in a freaking neighborhood, 🚘 all over the place, tree branches breaking and scrubbing the trailer, lights popping on in houses 😂 when I got outta there I drove a 100 miles and parked.

Just imagine the people in the past that didn't have GPS what they had to go through with reading a map only.
imagine being in the ocean not knowing where you are or where you are going and your only guide are the stars in the sky.
🤚 I think back like how and the fuck did I do it. No accidents no towing situations no bridges etc…. Grateful

So how the hell do yall get shipments lol. At spme point trucks are coming into the city somehow, it cant just be local truckers. Those loads of goods are getting there somehow but mane i cant imagine an out of towner navigating those city streets and in Manhatten. When even the locals dont want to deal with that shit i can just imagine truckers who arent familiar with NYC streets 🥴

Trucking life don't you just love it 😅 I've been doing this 20 years been through all those situations. And I only go to NY State only. I've had my GPS deadend me into a corn field at night Garmin is good for that don't trust them.

Saw a truck carrying a crane wipe out a bridge in North Florida on I-75. A few hours later CNN was reporting on the backup traffic in Atlanta, GA

I lived in NY until I started trucking mostly to save money. Pre planning your tires is the best thing. I can get away with local roads as I know what I'm comfortable with and where I want to go and which way I want to get out. Oh and do not go on any parkways in NY. BTW I'm talking about NYC.

I like to call the shipper/receiver to verify the address and get directions. RandMcNally make a trucking GPS designed to put you on legal routes that fit the dimensions of your vehicle

I drove a 15 ft rental truck out of Manhattan during rush hour. NOTHING prepares you for NYC until you have driven there lol.

Dispatch at Werner told me that their GPS only gets you to the area, not the drop off. Like you said, then use your satellite on your phone GPS.

If the clearance is 13’6 it normally has extra play. You can certainly go under 13’6
But I’ve been under one that was 13’2. And the consigned was just passed the bridge. I called them and they said the sign was wrong. They were right - but yes… BE SAFE

So this is why the other gentleman said just provide a map...which is easier in case of this situation...so I don't think that gentleman meant to insult you. So do you ask for a map now or write down the directions yet when reaching a pick up or drop off to the dock etc.? Just curious
