Hi Guys! This video is part 1 of 2 videos explaining my opinions of truck driving, and the pros and cons I’ve come across. The next video will be up ASAP; Hope you enjoy ❤️
I needed this I’m trying to get into trucking now! & I’m such an introvert. I love being alone. This 9-5 not cutting it. SN: I just purchased me a study book. So I’m ready!!! Finally made up my mind.
You were a joy to listen to. Once was a truck driver myself. Retired in 2018, 16 years over the road and 27 years in day cab home every day. I’m very proud of you. 💜
I'm in CDL school and there's a 55 year old woman that's there! I am almost for sure the youngest in the entire school and I'm 26. Not old or too young. Just try it out and if it doesn't work then it doesn't. You have to try!
Because we'll never get anywhere new with old habits. Truck driving is setting alot of people in our community free financially and taking us places we'd never see without it. Be care. Be safe and be unapologetically black while doing it
@Zanda Williams There will driveless trucks when everyone else is in driveless cars, are you about to stop being in control of your car? Tell a driveless truck to do a 90 degree back into an alley in downtown Sacramento at 5 o clock on a busy street of impatient people with people hurrying back and forth behind your truck when you get in it. The whole infrastructure of driving would have to bend around it. Not in our lifetime for sure

Girl, I feel like you're my soul sister. I didn't go to college out of high school in order to avoid debt and haven't known what to do since until just today. I've been under my parents wings and haven't felt like my own woman, and I also need to move closer to God. If I can be a good trucker, I'm going to love it- I've always wanted to travel the 48 states! I may even take my dad with me a few places if the company will let me, as he's always wanted to travel but never thought he'd be able to. Thank you so much for making these 2-part videos; here it is 2 years after you made them- I hope they will inspire people for years to come, and I'll share them if I recommend trucking to anyone else. And, I want to let you know my real name's Cassondra.
A lot of companies do let you bring whoever you want, family has to be 13 and over non family 18 and over. Dunno if that's every company. Did you get your CDL?
Girl, you are a blessing and an inspiration! You have such a positive attitude and I really enjoyed your video, attitude, and outlook on life. Good luck to you!
Good for you. I am also a female driver of color its so good to see you getting closer to God what a blessing. I started my journey in this industry 6yrs ago with a heavy heart. Thank you for this video, thank you for your positive energy. I kept procrastinating on going to training because I honestly felt like driving for 12 hours will be tiring and very boring. You helped change my perspective a little bit.
Many jobs allow you to have a pet, which I think would help with the monotony, but a driving job with home time is best for me. Most jobs can be boring at times!

You are a remarkable young lady! I turned 63 and spent decades behind a desk, working in a windowless building day after day… so I have made up my mind to become a long haul driver for ALL the reasons you describe. Thank you for making this video.
I am 46 years old and currently taking the 3 written tests for the learners permit here in Georgia. Thanks for making these videos! My plan is to at least do it for a few years to be able to buy a home.
@@quinetriaroberson5951 Hi. I just got my CDL. I am waiting to go out on the truck with the driver trainer. I would STRONGLY advise you to take advantage of the WIOA (workforce innovation) that is offered in Georgia. They will pay for CDL Training which will save you from paying for it yourself and also save you from having to sign a contract to drive for a year with a company you may not like working for (which is what I did). As you mentioned you have kids you probably want a local job so you can be home each night. Going over the road would suck for you as you will be on the road for a long time and will miss your kids. I hope this helps. But you need to set goals. First goal is to get your learners permit. This is easy. Just pass 3 written tests at the DMV and get a DOT physical. Once u get the learners permit you can go to a CDL school for a few weeks. It will have to be a school that accepts the WIOA funding. I hope this helps. Good luck!! You can do it.
I'm so happy for you gworly and a recruiter actually told me about WIOA I wasn't sure about it but the fact that you have told me this gives me hope 😩I just love good news I'm proud to be a woman soon can uplift the others 💜
@@quinetriaroberson5951 no but that part is cheap compared to the cost of the school itself. The DOT physical is about $100 and the learner permit is about 40 or 50$ i think. I cant remember exactly. It is best to have this before you go to school. The school I went to, in Alabama, would help you get it but there is so much to learn while at school I am so glad I already had mine. All this feels overwhelming but after you go through everything you will look back and think that it wasn't really all that hard. When you go to school they prepare you to pass the CDL test. The CDL test consists of (1) the pre-trip inspection. (2) the skills test. (3) the road test. The pre-trip you will learn as you will study it every day over and over, it's just memorization, no problem. The skills you have to learn are (1) straight line backing, (2) offset backing, (3) 90 degree Alley Dock. You will practice the maneuvers every day at school. Then the road test is just driving around with the examiner sitting in the passenger seat next to you. It's a good idea to watch tons of videos on you tube about all of these things so you know what to expect. This whole process, as is the case with most things in life, is just a series of hoops you have to jump through. A series of goals. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can.

I sooo love you... your spirit is so warm... You are definitely my favorite female trucker here on CZcams. It's like watching my daughter blossom... I am praying for your growth, success, and safety... I'm 35 and just getting into trucking I just got my Class A CDL Permit on 06/23/2022... I will definitely share my journey once I start my classes to get my actual license... pray for my success.
I’m excited to get started on the trucking journey!! A few years ago I drove the city Bus… now I don’t really wanna be bothered with people like that anymore , and I like to drive plus I love money. Thanks, Great Video!!
I think you are so amazing and you are my role model I can say. Dealing with people, is not for me. Watching this gave me the courage to actually be a truck driver.
I just had a talk about getting my cdl with some coworkers at my job today. Never looked at Truck driving like this before. I’m definitely about to get on it !
I really enjoyed watching your video, I learned a lot, plus you have an amazing personality 💖 I could watch you all day. Thanks for sharing you with us.
My favorite part is that this video was meant to be “pros and cons” and the pros kept coming :) I’m really happy to find this cuz there’s plenty of negative comments out there even from the most experienced of drivers 😅 was beginning to think it wasn’t worth it lol but I really needed this
Heyyyyy I’m from Michigan too! I have been thinking about doing this for awhile and have been watching multiple videos about it. Think I’m gonna make the jump. Great video!
Chile, I thought I wanted to be a nurse… just this past year, I ran into this pandemic housing market. I’m a single parent, so I had a hard time trying to compete with investors and married couples. I ended up renting an apartment. The goal was to get someplace stable and go back to nursing school. Now I’m thinking of trucking temporarily to stack some cash for tuition and down payment for my 1st home. Right now, I’m a lab assistant at my local hospital and covid has made me hate it and I asbsolutely hate my coworkers.
Currently in a similar boat and glad to see I’m not the only one doing this! I’m trucking to save for nursing school so i don’t have to work as much while in school.

I hope everything works out for you !!!
I’m excited to get started on the trucking journey!! A few years ago I drove the city Bus… now I don’t really wanna be bothered with people like that anymore , and I like to drive plus I love money. Thanks, Great Video!!
@@fivestar000 you would contact a school. They would provide whatever you need.
I think you are so amazing and you are my role model I can say. Dealing with people, is not for me. Watching this gave me the courage to actually be a truck driver.

OMG! That is so me! You are so helping me, I’m about to begin my journey in this industry.
I’ve been a trucker for 35 years. It’s a LIFESTYLE-not a job. Great info for the Ladies, outstanding video Young Lady...
Tell my guy all the time a great way to save and invest in real estate
@Zanda Williams or when you do get home time you're to tired to wanna do anything
That’s my goal
That's the same mindset I have.
I’m rocking with it. Being in training for a month. Take my test on the 11th! What you saying is all facts ❌ 🧢

Thanks boo cause of your videos I’m bout to give it a try🙌🏽🙏🏽
Good insight I'm working on the B license now ( maybe A down the line) but the info you've shared was valuable.
How are y'all working and schooling? I work overnights what would y'all suggest.
@@madalinebroadway8931 i take online classes and decided to not take a full semester just like three classes and make up the fourth class by taken a course during the summer. Just take a hour out your day to slowly due the assignment throughout the week.
Same here! I’m doing EKGS overnight at the state hospital.. it’s horrible.
I can’t wait until I get back out there trucking it is probably the best choice I’ve ever made.
Kaybee sent me I watched your videos and u got a good delivery. Be safe out there.
Great video definitely about to start my truck driving journey 🤗
Yesssss, I’m ready to be a trucker now girl, you explained everything so well 🥰

Awesome video! Stay safe out there!
been driving for alittle over a year. its an introverts job, and you hit the head of the nail. trucking isnt for everyone, but if its for you, its FOR YOU. im a proud, successful, and happy driver. keep it up Ms. Truck Driver
great reminder to make my truck my home.. ive been lacking on that, and i cant lie it bruns me out more when im not feeling at home
Do you get to pick the hours you want to drive? Because I have night time blindness.
@@Shon9tilR usually yes... being limited to day time isnt ideal, but im 100% sure there are companies that will work with you. i prefer night time, so i acutally drove teams with a guy who couldnt drive at night. good luck buddy.
GOD BLESS YOU SISTER, STAY SAFE🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
