Because of you im making 100% more than my previous job at a car dealership. I'm now a local driver hauling tankers, oil and propane in the winter and drinking water and pool water in the summer. It’s always nice to hear stories of others prospering as well. Im in NYC. Thinking I start off OTR for 3-6 months before trying local or regional. As long as I’m close to 80k I’ll be more than happy

Bad time to enter the market. Trucking companies are on the verge of major layoffs. And owner operators are hauling loads that pay less than their operational cost. So they are losing money at the moment. Draining Their savings. I have seen rates drop by pretty much by a half and diesel being super pricey. Maintenance is costlier, inflation creates higher opportunity cost of being a truck driver. Why make $150/day (clean profit) if you can just get a regular job that pays $20/hr and come home every night. I would recommend owner operators to look for another job.

Yusif young man, I drove for over 35 years and nearly four million miles. 1976 to 2011. I was a company freight hauler for 12 years, then a flatbed O/O for 23 years. It was a good occupation. I looked at it as a great job, and eventually a way of life. I am now old and retired, and appreciate your videos as well as a couple other drivers. They keep me informed of what is going on in the industry that I was a part of for so many years. Thanks for the videos, and do everything you can to stay save. And on the front load of coils, I always used three chains. thanks again. retired old ron.

I’m in my 6th week of training with my husband. I went to a trucking school last April and of course you only learn enough to pass the DMV test. I got my license. I’m owner operator with my husband and we have had this trucking business for seven years now. We have a dedicated run same thing every single day we own 2 trucks. And we haul gravel from phoenix, Arizona to Las Vegas. I drive one of our trucks and we have an employee that drives the other and my husband is still a truck driver for the company that we haul gravel to. That was the stipulation from the owner of the plant. In order to get this run from them exclusively my husband had to stay there as their truck driver, but we were allowed to bring our own trucks in. I got my CDL last year because it was just costing way too much to have two drivers and we couldn’t really find a dependable good driver. Last July the plant that we haul gravel for had an explosion so that meant our business was down, as well as the planet. It was down for seven months. We just went back. About six weeks ago. And my husband resume training with me. This coming week I’m going on my last week of training with him and then I will be on my own. I’ve come so far in the last six weeks. Six weeks ago, I can barely shift without grinding the gears. Now I’m rocking that 18 speed like a boss. I have so much more to learn, but I’m confident that I will be successful. Follow my channel as well as I document my journey of being a driver for our own business. I came across your channel and I really really like it. Great job!
I agree with what you’re saying if you don’t have money to back you up in the trucking game you’re not gonna be successful and you’re gonna go down real quick. The money that we make from our trucking we don’t touch it at all. It’s only used to go back into the trucks. Our house is paid off and we don’t mess with credit cards. When we bought our first truck, we saved for years and paid it out right truck and trailer for $80,000. This year we will be buying our dream home but it has taken a very long time to get to this point. Stay safe everyone!

Besides that, the income barely grows after 3 years whereas you can potentially see huge income jump in other trades like welder, electrician or carpenter. And what's worse, the automation is pushing human truckers to drive non-stop as a team driving setup in order to compete with self-driving technology.

And I don’t even have the highest paid job. There’s jobs that pay more and I could make more doing what I do if I really wanted to go apeshit.

I love to be a trucker, I am 40 years old and 20 years on de road, I did long distance for 14 years, South America and all over North Americas, but I am very handy my self, I understand a lot about crane, big machineries, construction and diesel mechanic, I don’t regret being a trucker, but if I could go back in time I was going to choose something more profitable, and use all of my skills I got growing up, but time is brutal don’t wait for nobody, then adult life it’s time consuming when comes to professional life and pays all bill and work hard to grow, financially and professional! My opinion now and advice to anyone who is young and trying to find a career or turn a hobby into a career, find the one you will use all of your knowledge to make as much money and grow faster, trucking industry doesn’t allow us to use other skills, to reapply in real life to make extra money!

I’m a mechanic engineer and going to become a truck driver. Starting my CDL school next monday! I currently work for a well known company but being a truck driver has always been my dream. I don’t regret getting my degree either because i know more theories, have higher education than others, and most importantly i have something i can back up to. wish me luck!

3 years exp. then COVID came. I did local which was great for me. Now that I have traveled the world some and started to learn how to trade, I wouldnt mind maybe doing OTR with my laptop making even more $$ I was never a fan of winter driving tho, but life is how you look at it. One love 🌠💓

Amazing video! I wish I saw this video 4 years ago lol I got my CDL, I was single, but I only lasted a couple of weeks. I got discouraged cause I had an "Ok instructor" he wasn't that bad in comparison to my school instructor but for the most part, was thinking about life back home. I've always played sports and moved around so I quit. But I love driving trucks, I pay attention to Trucking news, truck shows, etc. I'm in IT now, I make decent money and I work 40-50 hrs/week. Is funny to see ppl's reaction when they find out I got a CDL lol. Ngl in a perfect world I would drive 3-4 days/week and have the rest of the days off making 70k+/year, but I we all know that's not the norm at all lol.

Thanks a lot for the video.. this answers a lot of my expectations .. I’m actually still enrolled in a trucking program and just waiting on my road test date . Allegedly the trooper went on vacation for 2 weeks and never came back ? What was supposed to be a 3 week waiting period has now been 2 months so far. 🤷‍♂️ what can you do . But I’m excited to get started .. going for manual

Great post Yousif! You are greatly appreciated. I've been teetering back-and-forth on whether I don't wanna get my CDL but I think now I do. But I also wanna try and get a. Accounting certificate so I can work no partial months. You? Know driving truck and then during busy months of tax season. Do taxes on the side that would be my time off? I love your insight and I have been following you from day one. I always have questions I just wanna know if I can contact you whenever I have one.

Just finished my first day of trucking school. I honestly feel a bit discouraged because everybody is passing the straight line test within the first day and here I am can't even back straight. I was about 2 hours in when I told myself alright lets try tomorrow. I definitely got better but still not 100% Hopefully the next day will be a lot better.

The secrete to backing is going slowly while checking your mirrors like a swivel. Nobody will yell at you for backing up slowly!

Imagine a line on the leftside of the trailer right behind the cab only use the left mirror. This line will tell you which way to turn ..

Good tips above, what worked best for me was turning into the trailer or “grabbing the trailer” Once you see that trailer start to drift left, turn your wheel left just hard enough to “grab it” then turn the wheel back center. All while gently applying pressure to the accelerator, you want to stay in gentle constant motion. Then vice versa for the right side. The goal is to keep an even amount of trailer in BOTH mirrors. You’ll do fine. Remember you’ll only learn just enough to pass your test, you’re real training begins on your first job!

with all respect to you you still have alot to learn in trucking even though you gave some common sense advice, to make it in this business you really need to be smart and prepared from your mechanical to parts to fixing your own truck, in terms of health i take 51 vitamin a day i cook in my truck healthy cooking i do blood work every 6 months and i know hwo to read them, i take zero medicine, you are honst at least you didn't say you make one million a month, i truly hate trucking even though i own 19 trucks, i see so many liers in the industry and so many dumb ass but we have quality drivers my advice be gentleman and help other truck drivers and stop lieng about hwo great and awesome you are,I'm a civil engineering graduate but i did this when things where good
