I am going to gather my kids in the living room and play this video. There is so much they can learn from it.
You are hands down the best fish packer in the world!
That's the goal!
Great video as always Dan.
Great comment as always, Kerry :)
Hey Dan this is probably one of the most interesting and informative videos I’ve seen in the last year. Great shipping quality. Good for you !! You should be proud of yourself 👍🐠👏🏼
Fish Lover, awweeee! You comment made my day. Thanks!
That was super cool, I love seeing how things are made/done.
Glad you liked it, Ed.
Great video! Quality and the care you take with taking care of the fish is fantastic! I was really impressed with the bags that you use to ship my fish. Thank you Dan!
Great to hear from you, Aquatic! Thanks for buying those fish :)
Clean and professional!Thumbs up
Thanks for watching, Exotic!
I love how you are always learning. I am proud of you fellow entrepreneur
Interesting! Thanks for the behind the scenes of packing!
You got it, Dave!
It’s great how you care to take the extra steps and not be satisfied with it just being ok!!! Thanks for all you do for the hobby and always have great videos!!!
You got it, Chef! My pleasure.
I love watching anything you do! Glad to see you see busy and successful.
Great to hear from you Guppy Granny! I hope you and your fish are all doing well.
Dans Fish I am on the mend from a cardiac procedure I had last month. Better every day!!
@@pjbailey2313 Sorry to hear about the health problems, but thrilled you are getting better!
awesome video thanks Dan
Great to see you, Patricia!
Dan, you are the model for the industry. Your quarantine and shipping procedures are top notch. I hope people are paying attention.
Thanks, James. Our entire reason for being in business is to change the narrative from "I got an aquarium once, but everything died, so I quit" to "I love my aquarium!" That's why we do what we do in the way we do it. Given time, the trend will spread. That's the goal and that's what keeps us driven.
Hey man. Just wanted to take the time to wish the bestest of luck on all of your endeavors. Appreciate this video!
Thanks, Saruul. So far, so good! We'll see what next month brings...
I ordered a few Panda Garra from you a few months ago and i can honestly say the care and attention to detail really makes a difference. I always check your store first if I'm looking for a new pet. Keep up the awesomeness Dan!
Minuteman, this comment will keep me going for a month! So glad to hear the hard work is paying off...thanks!
Above and Beyond sir. Great content Dan! Someday soon Ill have an open aquarium marked for those Santa Maria Endlers!
I'm ready when you are :)
Dan...that was imazing....I never ordered fish from you but I plan to check it out....even buying fish from my local stores...they put all different fish together...and they still don't live...so I'm really impressed on how you care so much.
Thanks Lflowers. It has taken a long time to develop these shipping practices, but is totally worth taking the extra time. The fish deserve it!
Impressive! Really. Thx. :)
Thanks RC. Glad to have you around the channel.
Interesting! I have to say you by far pack fish the best ive ever received!!
Thanks, Poppa Rock. I'm glad to hear that the long shipping process pays off on the receiving end.
Cool video
Groovy.
Very interesting video.
Brantov...great to hear from you again!
Hi Dan. Enjoyed this video and share your passion for shipping healthy fish. Do you have tips for shipping adult angelfish? I'm looking for recommendations on the shipping bag.
That one guppy you have marked as a mutt may be a true strain called Tequila Sunrise. I'm surprised at how many fish you are shipping for a small channel. Glad it's working out for you.
Fish Tube Good eye! That fish is descended from a Tequila Sunrise line. I don't think it is a pure blood tequila, but it sure does look like one.
Director of Poop Management Solutions
That's right! It's a prestigious, lady-winning title :)
was that green hose oxygen? thank you for sharing your methods :)
Yes. I have an 02 canister that I get from a local welding supply store and it is hooked up to that green hose.
I think Bobby Boucher said it best, "Now that's what I call high quality H20"🤣
LOL!!!!
Any guides or pricing on how the boxes were built including Styrofoam? Thanks for the video!

How are you adding air in bag?
Wow 20 Bettas...that's a lot of bettas...
Yep. They are imbellis, not splendens, so they can all go in an aquarium together. That makes it a bit easier to keep that many bettas.
Dan, where do you get the square plastic containers holding up your bags?
I can't remember. I've had them for many years. I bought them from a deli supply company. They are meant to have potato salad and such packed in them.
Sir can i ask for a detailed description on sealing and getting oxygen into the bag as i ship koi with rubberbands but want to start using a sealer and want to learn techniques

I'm the same. My brain is terrible, always wants something to do.
Can't do sports or any "busy work" as you call it without listening to music, lectures, shows...
Doin' "busy work"? Might as well be leanin'!
Where is my buddy Pistol? Kevin ( flex ) says wazzz up!! Love watching your operation there Dan.
Kevin! I'm sure he will see this comment eventually.
@@DansFish Man the operation you have going on there and the care you put into your shipping on top of everything else is out standing. I do keep ya on my top list of places Id def support if i were to go back into freshwater.
Hi Dan, I am curious to know if the water parameters are the same for all your tanks/fish. Obviously you have a great variety of fish which have their own preference. With these general water changes, does that give a chance to shock the fish? There are so many videos about a climate your fish. I wonder if that might be a bit over done when I see your operation. Cheers
Marc, this is a great question! There is a ton of info out there about the "correct" pH etc. for each fish species. In large part, I find it useless information. All my fish have the same water. From my experience, what matters is chemically clean water (well established, mature, seasoned aquarium with no detectable ammonia or nitrite. If the water is pristine (chemically), then almost all fish will do well in a wide range of pH, hardness, etc. I've kept, bred, and raised lots of soft/acid water fish in hard/alkaline water and visa-versa. For me, it is always about clean water rather than about trying to create the parameters the books and internet say are necessary. Early on, I hurt a lot of fish by trying to make the pH, hardness, etc. perfect for them. IMO, keep it clean, keep the temperature reasonable, and they will be fine.
Dans Fish thanks for your reply. Appreciate the additional info. I have 4 small tanks with a variety of fish. I am doing the same as what you recommend and the fish are doing well already for years. I think there might be a part of truth with the shock theory, when the fish transfer from ownership, as at that point it is unavoidable to get them to adopt to a different water standard. But once they have settled in, the best is to keep the water clean and the parameters as stable as possible.
My new fishies!!! Here's an update on the ones I've gotten from you in the past: My chocolate gouramis are doing great. They are in a 20 gallon long with some corydoras and a few guppies (not many). My kribs have paired up and are defending a coconut hut. I've been trying to catch Krib #3 before the breeding pair kill him. They are in a 40 gallon breeder with some community fish plus lots of plants and places to hide. Krib #3 hides well and I haven't been able to catch him. My "pom pom" rainbows are in a 20 long with shrimp and a betta (don't ask). They are adorable and doing well. My betta coccina are doing great. They are currently in a 10 gallon with 2 baby super red bristle nosed plecos. It looks like I have 2 males and 2 females for sure. I'm pretty sure there is a 5th fish (I caught a glimpse last night), but he or she hides in the leaf litter. They are going to be moved to a bigger tank, but for now they are doing fine in the 10 gallon. I was sure my roadway cats had not survived. I hadn't seen them since I put them in their tank. However, I saw them 3 days ago which is how I knew something was wrong in the tank. I managed to save half of the forktail rainbows and purple emperor tetras in the tank along with the roadway cats, the gobies, and the apistos. It turns out if you leave the lid off of your dechlorinator for several days, it looses potency. Stupid mistake. I'm still kicking myself.
Glad to hear most of them are doing well. I hope the dechlor-event survivors recover soon.
@@DansFish thanks, they seem to be doing well. I'm still mad with myself.
Anyone that has ordered fish from you once, expects the same highest standards. Sadly, that is not seen with other online shippers. The online fish I've purchased the past two years, and there have been a lot, were almost all from you. Those that weren't came in deformed, dead, no heat pack during a blizzard, and so on. Deplorable that it is so low a standard. Thanks Dan, can't wait for your new facility to have 3 x the fish you have now!
Thanks, Bob. Together, we can all set a new norm and raise that shipping bar. In fact, it is already happening. In 5 years or so, people won't accept anything else.
I'm looking forward to the new facility too!
Is Pennsylvania to far for you to ship CPD and hillstream loaches successfully? I want to buy fish I am just so worried they will be dead when I get them
Not at all. We ship all over the US including Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Cool, I thought you were using 4" bags and saw that at 8:52. I still want to talk to you!
I know. Forgive me. I've been playing catchup the last week. I'll get in touch ASAP, I promise.
@@DansFish Please do :)
Do you still carry the Limia Perugia ?
Nope...sold the breeding colony quite a while ago.
Dan, do you always put salt in your shipping water and why? Is it the rock salt you buy in a bag at Walmart?
Yes, I always do. It keeps the fish from having to work so hard to maintain homeostasis through osmoregulation. The energy it saves can be used to keep the immune system strong during the stress of shipping. Here's the salt I use: www.homedepot.com/p/Diamond-Crystal-Solar-Naturals-Water-Softener-Salt-Crystals-100012454/100172669
Thanks, Dan for being so generous with your information. I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned from you. That’s why I will always continue to watch and share your videos. I don’t ship anywhere near the amount of fish you do so since you use 1/4 cup for 5 gallons (or 12 teaspoons), I’m figuring that I will use 2.25 teaspoons per gal of water. Also, is the salt safe for any tropical fish such as Rams and Angelfish? I don’t normally use any salt in my fish tanks so I want to make sure that it’s really safe for my type of fish.
Have you ever thought about using breather bags?
Yes. I've shipped lots of fish in breather bags in the past. I just don't like them as well. My main issue: There is no really good way to double bag them to insure there is no leakage in the box. Leaky boxes make USPS, UPS, and FedEx quite upset because the water damages all the packages around the fish box ,etc. There are lots of reasons I prefer standard 4 mil poly bags, but that's the clincher for me.
@@DansFish ok.
That’s a mutt guppy? Looking good for a mutt.
Some mutts are prettier than some pure bloods. I like the variety found in mutts.
POOPFEST 2019 😂
Move over, Cochella. We've got PoopFest!
I see my chili rasboras :)
Yep! Fat, happy, and on their way to you. Fingers crossed all goes well!
