Quick note! This vid is NOT meant to be a "Best of" list. I think all these bands are amazing, but there are, as many of you have pointed out, a metric ton of other excellent all-female Metal outfits (some of whom will show up in the next vid I make about this topic). Thanks to everyone for watching and commenting! 🤘
Show-Ya are the original Japanese all-female Metal band. Started around '81 and STILL going!
*The Warning!*

The Warning My man, they are versatile, enjoyable to hear, and very talented, so many great songs.
Oh yeah, they're soaring in popularity, it seems. I'd love to see some album sales numbers! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘

I wouldn't call The Warning metal, but I would call them awesome. They've got it all: world class drummer, singer, and bass player, plus the drummer can deliver world class vocals, and their stage presence is off the fucking charts.
Yeah, I agree on all counts. They do dip their toes ever so slightly into metal territory sometimes with their breakdowns (especially in the latter sections of Evolve), and I think if they wanted to go in that direction more they could do it well.
@@Cuckoorex I think they're just more of a hard rock band. But I understand your reasoning.
I wouldn’t call them metal either. But 1 genre classification isn’t an exact science. 2 as someone who’s a fan of rock in general (the superset of metal, hard, soft, prog rock...) What matters to me is whether I like it or not!
If The Warning is on the list then Band-Maid should be too. They are basically the same.
@@Arigator2 How are they the same? They don't sound anything alike.

Nemophila and The Warning are definitely bands that deserve attention. Once you go down The Warning's rabbit hole, you'll have a better understanding of just how good they are. Their back story is incredible.

I've been loving pretty much everything that The Warning and Nemophila put out. Pau's vocals for The Warning are not to be missed, they are very good live. I've seen them twice, and intend on catching them every chance I can. Everyone in Nemphila can stand on their own in talent. Awesome stuff!
Great stuff to hear! I'm not familar enough with Nemophila, but I'm planning to dive into their albums now. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🤘

The Warning is the best young band anywhere in the world.
I'll mention Plush here as well. Up and coming.
And Dorothy
Thanks for commenting! You're the second person to recommend Plush: I'll have to check them out. And DOROTHY is an unusual, appealing force! Is she Metal or Heavy Rock/Blues? Either way, I'm a fan! 🤘
I love the Warning but the best young band by far is Asterism, no contest.
Well all great suggestions so I'll throw one in "The Sixsters Band" Ukraine very young not really metal more punk rock but there young songs vary greatly they will surprise you!! And love the "Warning" been a fan for along time think i saw there TED talks first.

In my opinion, which surely not all have to agree, The Warning is not strictly a metal band. All the aforementioned bands have their own musical mastery, but in the case of The Warning, their musical offer is much richer, they are their own musical genre. The above, combined with the quality of their non-trivial lyrics and their ability to use the voice as another instrument of the band and transmit deep emotions, make them my favorite band among those mentioned.
A nuanced comment! Thanks for watching & chiming in! 🤘

Never was too big into metal, always seen it has very harsh music performed by man in black... My world completely flipped upside down when I discovered Lovebites a few years ago, which are the complete opposite.
After that they led me to discover the whole japanese metal scene, which is filled with talent, discipline and originality.
Thanks for commenting, and it's good to hear you've become a Metal convert! 🤘
lovebites tops this list easily. they have taken the torch from maiden and priest and will carry it forward!!!!!

@@MetalProfessor65 they are what they want to be at the moment. Hard rock, ballads, punk, metal. They have always said that they will make the song for the feeling. Not make the the song for a genre.

LOVEBITES 🐺 INCREDIBLE

The Warning I'd list as Hard Rock, don't really see them as Metal. I do agree agree with the rest.
The Warning have a tight sound and very interesting drummer. She sings and keeps the pulse of the band running from the start of there set till the end. Small or Large venue they provide raw energy. I like them. Keep it up sisters.
Thanks for watching & commenting! I had no idea what an outsized response The Warning would get when I put them on the list, but it's gratifying to see that neither their gender nor their age is keeping away listeners!🤘
New vid up about THE WARNING: czcams.com/video/N-d0FFsqwb0/video.html (I'm _really_ liking this band!)
Pau herself has argued that it's Ale who keeps the pulse and pulls her back when she starts to go off the rail. She calls her sister a "human metronome". That doesn't take anything away from Pau being the genius musician and fire cracker she is. But credits where credits are due. :-)
Oh, Ale's good! She and Pau make an excellent musical backbone!🤘Thanks for chiming in! @@wolfgangwalk337
@@wolfgangwalk337 Ale and Pau provide great support to the beast of a front woman they have that is Dany. With a front woman like that, the band will definitely go places. Dany runs full on passion and you can't tame that much passion. People will notice it and you will reach the ultimate heights.
Can't get enough of LOVEBITES, The Warning , and Nemophila. Love Burning Witches too. I know of Cobra Spell, but have yet to dive in fully. But I have seen Noelle do reaction videos on her channel to bands including The Warning and LOVEBITES.
Thanks for commenting! There's not a lot to know about Cobra Spell yet, since they've released only a couple of EP's, but I'm looking forward to their full-length album this year. Yeah, Noelle's vids are adorable! 🤘
Lovebites not only does Power/Speed Metal, they also do a fair amount of Thrash and they do it as well as any band, male or female. Guitarists Miyako and Midori are one of the best guitar duos in the business, as Noelle from Cobra Spell found out when she reacted to one of their videos. If you want to go real heavy (Death Metal) then Crypta would be the go to band out of Brazil.
@@guitarzen5999 Thanks for the idea! Miyako & Midori compared with Murray & Smith or Downing & Tipton. Hmm.....
@@guitarzen5999, absolutely! M&M are a four armed lightning bolt.
Im a big lovebites fan and im not goin to say they are better than the other bands. i have heard all of them, every one its difrent but great on what they do. i just recommend people to give themselves the time to listen to a few songs from all this 5 bands to appreciate more their music
Most of these bands are a bit heavier than I enjoy, but the Warning is just right. They are exactly the sound I look for when it comes to Rock. I don't really consider them Metal, but more hard Rock with varying other Genres thrown in. They've become my favorite Band currently. I have respect for everyone on this video though. I do love Women who can Rock.
Women who rock are absolutely the best! Thanks for watching! 🤟

These girls and many others are the best it could happen to rock and metal. I'm a mad fan of The Warning. Anyone that attend one of their concerts will notice that the fans range from boys and girls as young as 6 (my daugther included, hehehe) to grandpas with white beards and big bellies but who are yelling their guts out as if they were 23 again. Only truly exceptional musicians can do that.
Like how you chose the age “23”, well played (if it was indeed intentional).

A band that people should check out is the Japanese all female metal band DESTROSE. They ended in 2015 and had a tumultuous history. More than 23 members passed through the ranks. Many bands splintered off from DESTROSE including Mary's Blood, Mardelas, Albion/Octaviagrave, Velvet Cherry, Pinkish Crown, Disqualia, Fate Gear and of course Lovebites. Miho and Haruna were the rhythm section for DESTROSE and founded Lovebites in 2016 after DESTROSE disbanded. Saki, Nemophila guitarist, did a stint in DESTROSE as a teenager and later joined Mary's Blood. Hazuki, the other guitartist in Nemophila, was in Disqualia with Risa Risa and Narumi who were both in DESTROSE.
Love The Warning and Nemophila! Look out for Hanabie too.

@@MetalProfessor65 definitivamente lo voy a ver🤘🇲🇽
Although their last album had a definite sound, the Warning's earlier music is quite varied and interesting. All the more impressive that they were in their early and mid teens when they recorded their first 2 albums.
Thanks for watching & commenting! I've never been a fan of "kid bands" because they're mostly novelty acts that fizzle out within a year or two, but in rare cases they can turn into actual Forces for Rock & Roll. The Warning and Liliac are the exceptions that prove the rule.🤘
@@MetalProfessor65 The Warning yes. I am not a fan of Liliac at all. The songwriter listed first on their new album is...their father. Their fanbase are geriatrics. I can see why.
@@JulioHernandez-jl9qk I can't see why, actually. I'd argue that they make excellent Classic Metal, regardless of who their songwriter is (even if he's condescending and unpleasant, which was my experience with him before I canceled the interview I'd scheduled with the band: I saw no reason to put up with that guy for one more second). That having been said, we're all entitled to our opinions! 🤘
@@MetalProfessor65 Yes, it is a metal from 40 years ago. Nothing wrong with classic for covers. But for original music? Even as their new album has fresher instrumentation, the song structure is still old-fashioned. And with 1-2 exceptions, the lyrics feel forced. Compare them to the Japanese metal bands who sound nothing like the 1980s.

Some great bands here, excellent video. The Warning are my personal favourites here,
Dany is is doing such a multitude of roles, lead vocal, lead guitar, rhythm guitar and front lady - she really does work the crowd, so she doesn't have a lot of space for solo's. The band focus on short high energy songs, they don't stand still long enough to do a solo 🙂
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! The Warning is getting LOTS of love in these comments (and deservedly so, IMHO)! 🤘

If I were to make a list of the five most important all female metal bands today it would definitely be an international list - Lovebites (Japan), Nemophila (Japan), Crypta (Brazil), Slave To Sirens (Lebanon) and Voice of Baceprot (Indonesia) with Honorable Mention going to Hanabie (Japan). Band-Maid (Japan) and The Warning (Mexico) would make a hard rock list as well as Plush (USA). I also want to mention the pioneering Japanese all female metal group Show Ya which started way back in 1981 and is led by the amazing Keiko Trada. In my opinion there are two Queens of Metal - Doro Pesch and Keiko Terada. The two ladies respect each other greatly and have worked together recently.
That's some great information! Thanks for chiming in! 🤟

@@MetalProfessor65 I watched the video with great interest and left a comment. I look forward to Part 2 about Queen of the Murder Scene and Error. I am much more familiar with those two albums.
Lovebites has elite talent across the board with every band member. Midori and Miyako are among the greatest metal guitar duos of all time already IMO. Lovebites won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band in 2018. They also play thrash metal in a style similar to Slayer and Testament. They are a multi metal genre band.

You did not mention Vixen when you named 70s and 80s female bands. They had a big hit in the 80s with Edge of a Broken Heart. They are the only all female band that I saw in concert. I also went to a Heart and a Doro concert. There is an all female band that has been around since the 80s called SHOW-YA. They are still around and are a big influence to NEMOPHILA and other Japanese metal bands. I also like Band-Maid, Aldious and Trident. LOVEBITES is my favorite metal band. Best five musicians in a metal band. Their fan base is called the Wolf Pack. 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺

The warning is more rock than metal, it is appreciated that they have included it in this video, I think the warning is the most versatile band here, they range from metal to ballads although the vast majority of their songs are rock, The warning is my favorite band 😎🤘
Lovebites is just as versatile. They play soft ballads, rock, hard rock, progressive metal, thrash metal, speed metal, power metal, and NWOBHM style metal as well. Their songs usual combine elements of many of these styles. They also have the multi instrumentalist Miyako who plays classical pieces on piano as well as she can play guitar. So in my opinion Lovebites is the most versatile metal band I have ever seen.
@@ChadTheDragonLord Interesting, I did not know that they were so versatile lovebites, I got to hear a couple of lovebit songs and I did not catch my attention, maybe I chose the wrong songs I will give them a second chance to see if I like their band, if it is as you say they would be even more versatile than the warning if they do it as well as the warning, recommend me the best 5 songs that are of different genres and as I will listen
@@ChadTheDragonLord I agree. Lovebites is the most versatile band on here hands down. I haven't listened to much of any of these besides Lovebites & Nemophila, but I guarantee Love bites could play every song by The Warning, I don't think the reverse would be true.

These are some great bands. I definitely think Bandmaid belongs in this group. Here to give Burning Witches some love as I have been a fan for a few years. Not sure I would call The Warning metal. But they are a phenomenal live act and the most likely to be headlining a stadium show in 5 years.
Band Maid isn't Metal either.
Could mention a lot of Japanese bands. First would be Hanabie.
Depends how strict you want to be with 'band'. Do metal Idol Groups count? If so then Babymetal should be at the top.
@@Arigator2 Band Maid is a self proclaimed Hard rockin maid band, But Hanabie is definitely metal and belongs on the list! I see The Warning as more of a hard rock band.
@@xducer13 agree 100 percent. If you like Hanabie I recommend Greed Five Eggs 'How to Get' they are a super small indie band.
On The Warning: Pau (drummer and lead songwriter) has described their songs as pop melody with metal instrumentation, a simplification but a starting point. With them them song is more important than solos, and the bass is much more central to the sound than in a lot of metal, and Ale at 18 is already world class.
Lovebites. They're all I need if I was to pick one band(any gender band). 56yo metal musician who spent the late 80s pursuing rock stardom in Los Angeles, and have worshipped the likes of Priest, Queensryche, Motorhead since my teens. They are without peers as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks for watching & commenting! (58yo former rockstar wannabe here, too ✊) Lovebites are one of the most pleasant surprises I've heard in years. Quick anedcote: about 18 months ago I had an interview scheduled with Liliac (who are super talented, IMHO), but their manager was so pleasant and not at all condescending (that's some heavy irony, BTW) that I canceled the interview. "This sucks," I said to my wife. "They're the only new band that I really like." THEN--thanks in no small part to Vlad, the Metal Pilgrim ( @MetalPilgrim )--I was exposed to Burning Witches, and suddenly I was seeing amazing new bands all over the place. 🤘
In early 2020 stuck at home due to the lockdown, i found myself on yt more than usual and was lucky enough to discover LOVEBITES!! What a glorious day it was!! 😄
Fantastic power/thrash/speed metal band who also does other genres too outside of their main sound. A band with two of the best lead guitarists i have ever heard in Midori and Miyako!!
Their new album recently released Judgement Day is a relentless assault on the ears and i LOVE IT!! 🔥
Later that year is also discovered Nemophila which also became one of my favorites. These female bands are carrying the torch of metal forward and im here for it!! 🤘🤘
Right on! Thanks for watching & commenting! Confession: I'd never heard of Nemophila until recently when I began looking around for some new all-girl Metal talent: they are absolutely brain-crushing!🤘

The Warning is my current favorite band with Nigthwish, but I would not say that they are a metal band, but more of classic hard rock with a modern sound.

Thanks for including The Warning in your list (which is a great list!), I'd call them hard rock myself but would be very interested in a video by you about "what is metal" and/or how you classify bands such as The Warning. I've learned about these other bands thru fans of The Warning and it has been a fun journey.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm thinking about making a "What is Metal?" vid, so it's great to know at least one person would watch it! 🤘
@@MetalProfessor65 I've watched video(s) about the various subgenres of metal, like speed vs thrash, but it's interesting to consider the threshold between hard rock and metal. I figure its a blurry line and somewhat subjective, but it can be a fun discussion.
@jimlaheta8864 Well, I hope it'll be fun! The video should be fun to make, but there will inevitably be much outrage in the comments: some folks take things a _little_ more seriously than is really warranted! 🤘

Some top bands. For me, The Warning stands out due to their songwriting and how tight they play live.

LOVEBITES have filled the musical void that had been missing, 🐺
Lovebites is the band here that more people need to pay attention to. They play more or less every kind of classic metal, pretty much as well as anyone you can name. Anyone who's a fan of any 80s metal band needs to check them out.
Well said!🤘

Lovebites is amazing. I just saw Nemophila when they blew the roof off of the venue in Roseville, California on their first U.S. tour. While I'm not big on The Warning, the other two bands are new to me and I'll check them out. Thanks for the new info!
You are very welcome! Thanks so much for watching! 🤟
Lovebites! 🤘🏻🙂
I also like The Warning very much, but, as many others said, wouldn't consider them to be metal.
The Warning. Not exactly metal, more like hard rock. However, they are SO good, you will see grey-haired OG rockers right up front at their headlining concerts. I mean OG's who have seen HOF'ers and simply lost interest in new music decades ago. It seemed impossible that any band could re-light the fire [you know that it would be untrue........]
I am 57 and they have been my favorite band since I discovered them in 2018 by popping up in my YT recommendations thanks to Queensryche's The Warning. I see comments of people in their 70's that love them.
Like you, I'm in my upper '50s and had despaired of a Metal scene ever again developing that I would enjoy. I am so glad I was wrong! Thanks for watching! 🤟

I have been listening to The Warning pretty much non stop for the last 5 years. Plush is another great band (who just toured with The Warning).
Thanks for commenting! Plush will be in the next vid I make about this topic (hopefully soon!). 🤘

My favorite is The Warning. Seen them live 3 times, outstanding live band. However in my opinion they would place them in rock to hard rock. You do have my two favorites up on your list. My second favorite is Nemophila. I have to see them someday, like you I’m not getting any younger. Next list please.
Thanks for chiming in! I had no idea this vid would get such a great response. I suspect it's a temporary quirk of the YT algorithm that the vid popped up in a lot of suggestions. But another list is on the way, nonetheless.🤘

Cool vid my man. I musically moved to Japan about 10 years ago and never looked back. The whole of Japan is pretty much a factory for hard rock and metal, similar to the Sunset Strip in 80s. Dozens of live shows seven nights a week from tiny 20 person closets to 500 plus clubs and beyond. You can't throw a rock in Japan without hitting an amazing rock/metal band. While not metal, I've basically sold my soul to Band Maid. Self-described as "impossibly hard rocking" they do everything from rock to hard rock with flashes of metal and pop punk. Each song is unique but with a clear line telling you it is Band Maid. This is their 10th anniversary year/tour and have over 120 unique songs in their catalog. Very prolific bunch of ladies and in a live setting, have no equal. This coming from a 52 yr old dude who grew up in the LA area and been to hundreds of shows. Check them out. As for a brilliant up and comer, check out Saiseiga.
Thanks for watching & commenting! The Japanese metal scene is fascinating! 🤘
I get lost with all these labels and people wanting to pigeonhole artist into 1 or 2 categories. I love that The Warning has 2-3 songs in their 14 track album that I do not consider Metal, 2 of them sung by Pau, the drummer and main lyricist. Whatever categories you want to place these girls in, you will likely have to make adjustments later, they have a wide range of inspiration and they will continue to try new things. Either way they are a very talented trio.
Nicely put! Categorizing things is an innate human trait (originally linked to survival), but I too feel that we often get a little ridiculous with it. I'm planning a video about defining Metal in general, and this topic will certainly come up. Thanks for watching! 🤟

Hi Prof. Great video! I've followed Cobra Spell and Burning Witches since both their inceptions and love the work of both. Good choices. I saw The Warning live in May 2023 and was incredibly impressed. I'd consider them more hard rock than metal but, regardless, they are spectacular. Plush is not on your list, but I've seen them live too. I know you've considered Plush in other of your vids. Keep on covering the ever-increasing world of all-female shredders!!
Japan at the moment seems to be the land of the rising all female metal/rock bands. There are 100+ all female bands out there, many of whom you'll never hear of. Show-Ya who have been around since the 80's and are still going, with a hiatus in the middle, where the one to kick start it all. Aldious are credited with rekick starting it all. Then there is Destrose, who have split (hiatus) who can credit with having so many bands come about from members like Mary's Blood, Lovebites and many more, I think it's around 30 bands can credit members that went though Destrose.
That's interesting! I'm thinking about a video specifically re: the Japanese all-female Metal situation, so I appreciate the info. Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘
Mark my words, The Warning will one day be recognized as the greatest power trio of all time!
LONG LIVE THE VILLARREAL SISTERS!
Your enthusiasm is awesome! Thanks for sharing it with us! 🤘
I have seen a lot of bands over my live concert viewing life. I have seen some of the greatest of all time live. The Warning is the best live band i have seen in the past 20 years. They are a must see live. If performing near you don't pass them up.
I'm on the lookout for them! Thanks for watching! 🤟

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciate your commenting 🤘
We definitely need to know about more female metal bands😊. The super talented Lovebites are playing in the USA, Spain and France in 2024, maybe more venues to be announced. Midori(‘warrior princess’) and Miyako(‘Greek goddess’ and concert pianist) are two of the finest female metal guitarists in Japan.
I discovered LOVEBITES last year. They transcend gender, genre, and geography and won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band and is unusual among Japanese bands in choosing to sing in English. See examples their next-le el musicianship at these links : Judgement Day: czcams.com/video/m3uGjp-P7DI/video.html ; Set The World on Fire: czcams.com/video/99zsH6iG_6c/video.html ; Thunder Vengeance: czcams.com/video/yWE7PqCpGi4/video.html ; Swan Song (with Chopin classical piano intro) czcams.com/video/dcMVtrvpJpk/video.html ; Frozen Serenade: czcams.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/video.html ; Break the Wall ; Edge of the World: czcams.com/video/UZjxMjBop7w/video.html

@arnoldmayii3563 Oh, hells yes! I just stumbled onto the Japanese all-female Metal scene recently, and I'm blown away by all that talent. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 🤘
The Warning play what I love. Hard Rock that can shred when it wants or go punk when it's called for. They defy gravity... er... narrow labelling but the one thing it seems like they can't do is write a bad song.
🤘😎👍
Gravity and labelling--physicists conclude that both have existed since the beginning of time, and it's nice to see that some of us aren't bound by the shackles of at least one of them! Thanks for watching & commenting! 🤘
