    The Barons... my first NHL game, hosting the great Montreal Canadiens at the Richfield Coliseum. Dennis Maruk, Gilles Meloche, and yeah Al MacAdam. Good times! I felt like they bailed too soon, but the Gunds weren't willing to keep the bleeding going. The Blizzard of '78 really hurt attendance, and Richfield was the middle of nowhere. Nick Mileti's arena between Cleveland and Akron was 75 years ahead of it's time.
    The feeling in Cleveland has long been that its chance for the NHL died when the Blue Jackets arrived. There was hope when the IHL Lumberjacks moved back downtown from Richfield to Gund Arena in 1994, but it never rose above wishful thinking- not even to hot rumor.

    The North Stars didn't eliminate all references to "North" when they changed their uniforms in 1992. The "A" on the "ST^RS" logo doubles as an arrow pointing north. The shift to black was to capitalize on the merchandise sales of the L.A. Kings, not to pave the way for a potential move south.

    @SaskStarsFan Před 4 lety +8

    Love the collection!! Thought I would give some context to the logos and their material used!
    First the 93-94 CCM Vintage jersey you have is not actually faithful reproduction, when CCM made it for the Stars 25th anniversary they used the wrong green (should be Kelly green) and the stripes were the wrong size. The 93-94 jerseys are literally the North Stars jerseys with Texas patches for one year then changed the green and stripping.
    And in the 90's the NHL had a few manufactures making replica jerseys,
    Starter was considered the cheapest option like fanatics today. Next was pro player which was an option between Starter and CCM. CCM was the best Replica option, but the 90's CCM replica Stars jerseys had a less saturated Star colour. When Dallas released their 3rd jersey in 1997 (Green Star Design) the CCM Replica logos for 3rds were made more like the Authentic logo that's why it was more shiny. But in 1999-2000 when Dallas went with the star design full time CCM started making the Star plain again on both the white and dark. This stayed the same when CCM rebranded the darks as Koho.
    So the difference in logos is all based on the year it was made. I personally like my Authentics now but I own starter, pro player and CCM Replicas in all of the Stars late 90 and early 2000 styles. Little background on why they look different and feel different.
    Also... ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY MOOTERUS!!!

    Speaking of the secondary Texas logo with the star, what if every team did a "State of Hockey" jersey (Provinces of Hockey?). Like have the logo on the front be the home state of the team, with their primary logo centered on their city. Could be something different to do and would be a fun brand campaign for the NHL

    • @FischerFan
      @FischerFan Před 3 lety

      That could be something worth considering; but then you run into conflict with states like New York, Pennsylvania, California, and Florida along with the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Alberta....all of whom have more than one NHL team.

      Pancakes and Hammers this is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but I wish that the NHL forced relocated teams to rebrand. The North Stars name and brand is so much better than the Wild. And even though Dallas now has a connection to the Stars name they didn't in 1995(???) and could have forged a new identity for themselves.

  • @paulofearghail9408

    I agree that the early North Stars sweaters were awesome. In fact, I was a high school hockey player in Massachusetts around that same time, and our town's name started with "North." Our school colors were red and white (football, basketball, etc.). Having a hockey team was new at our school, and we were able to buck the traditional school team name (which was too lame to repeat here); we called ourselves the "North Stars." We managed to get awesome uniforms with red jerseys trimmed with white and black, together with black pants. But the best part was that we had a similar logo on the front with the capital "N" topped with a star. We had, by far, the sharpest kit in our league.

    • @KevinWindsor1971
      @KevinWindsor1971 Před 4 lety

      The change to the Seals colors was because they were owned at the time by Charlie O. Finley who also owned the A's. The official names he gave for the colors are Kelly Green, Ft. Knox Gold, and Wedding Gown White. This is the same man who tried to introduce orange painted baseballs into the MLB. He did sucessfully get the American League to adopt the designated hitter.
