I kind of like the fisherman logo.
I like to refer to the fisherman logo uniforms as the "Captain Lloyd Duncan" uniforms after the character on the CBC Radio Newfoundland comedy program "The Great Eastern".
I’m a huge Isles fan I grew up out there on the Island and we practically lived at the beach. I’d love to see more of a nautical feel like an anchor or ships wheel to their Jerseys.

I’ve been an Isles fan my whole life and I was 5 when the fisherman logo came out and I loved it, frankly I still enjoy the look as a throwback. The wild wing reference is spot on
1) You'll notice that the 80's jerseys were manufactured by local company Syosset Sports before Starter/ Koho/ CCM/ Reebok/ Adidas took over leauge-wide.
2) Also you didn't mention the wavy names and numbers on the back of the fisherman jersey.
3) the original and current 3rd jersey have Orange names/ numbers on the back whereas the other jerseys mostly had blue/ White names and numbers on the back
In 1993, at the age of 23 years old I go to visit my cousin who is part of the Long Island management team that is part owner of the Islanders. He says I want to show you something. He shows me the fisherman logo. I say, what the hell is that? He says our new logo. He says, we are down towards the bottom in merchandise sales and we hired a marketing firm to come up with a new logo. I said, are you nuts?!?! That is awful!! What about the tradition of the old logo and the 4 Stanley Cups? Which at that point were only less than a decade before. He says I know I tried to tell them but they won't listen. You wonder how one bad decision can lead to many more. Don Maloney was in over his head and a columnist from Newsday wrote let's see if the Islanders have the guts to hire Mike Milbury. They knew the Bruin alumni would be more than happy to move away from the past. Hoping to show that they were willing to make a splash, spend money, and distract from the logo fiasco, they hire one of the worst coaches and soon to be worst GMs in history. A guy who also happened to be the nemesis from Boston of many of the former Stanley Cup winning alumni. He trades Chara and what turned out to be Spezza for Yashin. Trades Luongo for Parrish and Kvasha. And instead of drafting Gaborik and Hartnell ends up with DiPietro and Torres. A freakin 23 year disaster from Fishsticks to Snow storm.

I actually have that orange third Koho jersey with Yashin on the back. Not a great time as an Islander fan, although I’m too young to remember it, but it’s a really cool jersey my English teacher gave me and I thought was a nice gift and a neat jersey to have
New York Islanders best jerseys are the originals and when they finally went back to the originals now tells you that. I think part of the rebranding when Captain Highlander was the logo was a change of ownership at that time. Not too many thirds I like from the Islanders too.
I think one of the biggest reasons people love the Fisherman jerseys now is because, while they pale in comparison to the OGs, the Fisherman blows EVERY OTHER alternative out of the water!
The Jersey that shall not be named from the 90's hopefully stays in the past. II love the original and call me crazy but I like the orange as a third.
Personally I like the four stripe idea. It reminds me of football when teams will use stars above their badge to represent World Cup or Champions league wins. It's a good subtle nod to history that also keeps a running theme through the jerseys.

The fish sticks jersey reminds me more of that first round of experimental third jerseys. Maybe that one could have been been their Wild Wing or Burger King jersey.
The originals were my favs of theirs. That's good they brought them back. The Gordon fish jerseys were nasty.

Love the Hockey Guy. Just bought the most recent adidas alternate jersey and didn't even notice or realize the 4 orange stripes on the stick. Kind of embarrassing especially since I grew up in Uniondale. Way back in the day I had a Bob Lorimer jersey. Points 4 you if you remember his jersey number....and even more points if you ever snuck into a game at the Coliseum in the 80s.....good friend of mine bought a CCM vintage Mike Bossy jersey for me a few years back...thanks Nate and thanks Hockey Guy for making my day!!!

I think they're Adidas Home jersey are really sharp. One of my favorite in the league tbh, I don't care enough to get one myself but It is nice.
In a regard of the "orange jersey with the teeth", isn't the orange motif thereon supposed to represent the uppercase letter "I"?
Like let's say that the letter is one metre tall, you stand about one metre in front of it and looking down at it at an angle.
And that is how it appears on the jersey.

The only one of those jerseys I never ever want to see again is the black one at 6:20. An absolute travesty. Bring any of the rest back.
For starters our initial jersey was white the blue was our away jersey. The lighthouse was not approved by isles fans because it makes no sense. Montauk where the lighthouse is is nowhere near the coli or nassau county which is where we got our colors from and everything. The jerseys we had in the mid 2000s arent liked. The blue and white returned and we got the nice stadium jerseys and the current third jerseys which everyone loves.
I liked it better when the white was the home jersey. Been watching over 40 years.

As a die hard fan in the NY/NJ area I do have the Islanders 3rd orange jersey, the Islanders Reebok Navy Blue and the Adidas Authentic home Royal Blue jersey but I do like the Islanders fisherman jersey in the navy blue I have no idea why a lot of people hate it so much a friend of mine also has it but that black jersey that says Islanders in the front is horrible though.

The all black "nets" jersey was designed by the Barclays Center marketing team, who have NO CLUE about anything hockey. That is the absolute worst jersey they have had. The Halloween ones were a close second. The new third jerseys are missing the most important aspect, The Island! And the little one on the inside of the collar does not count.

I liked the orange and navy alternates. Not a fan of the black ones that represented Brooklyn and that crappy arena that wasnt meant for hockey.

The Islanders and Devils have a very small concentrated fan base. That's why there Merch does not sell compared to other teams. Besides who wants a "Gorton Fisherman" on a Jersey ?
The irony of it is those Islanders and Devils are responsible for seven of the last 8 cups won since 1980 in the NYC metropolitan area.

Shannon, SURPRISED you erroneously included their inaugural season through to 1977 for what's colloquially known as the 'Dynasty-era' blue; PRESENT (from 2010) design with broad orange & white sleeve, hem stripes PRECEDED it (with the latter REMOVED as of '77 playoffs) until autumn 1978.....

Maybe it’s just cuz I didn’t live through the fisherman year, cuz i was born in 99, but I think it’s kinda cool. I’d never want them to use it full time but the 50th anniversary season is coming up and if they used it as a third I would buy the hell out of an adidas fisherman jersey. But our regular logo and classic jersey is our best look and I hope they never change it. Go isles

I honestly love the fisherman jerseys despite its flaws. it’s cheesy as hell but sometimes it’s at least more fun to look at then other jerseys
It's amazing how removing the small number from the chest makes the Reebok jersey so much nicer. (although I confess I didn't really like the white version of it.)

If the current third jersey was Navy I think it’d be just a smidge better, it’s too close to their current primary... I’d also love to see the light house as the crest on it, I think that’d look amazing

I like the fisherman and the lighthouse. If they went to that big NY like on their thirds as their main logo, huge boost in my eyes. Not a fan of the frankly clunky logo they’ve had since the 70’s. A lot of WHA logos just don’t do it for me. NYI is one of them. By cutting out the excess, just having the NY in that style, very clean, very sharp. My $0.02.

I think they have a good current design but the 3rd jersey should be a reprise of the wave design. The fish sticks should never come back and for a good reason: they’re from a cursed era

That was great Shannon thanks great collection there I enjoyed watching this minus the Tavares #91 which is really dated because with all do respect of the retirement of Butch Goring now so #91 has become sacred for fans in Long Island NY and I know you know that already.
