I will only buy/wear sens merch with the 2D centurion. If they come up with something less cringy than the logos they've been using since then, maybe I will think about it. Until then 2D or bust.

Going to have a short rant here. The Ottawa Senators logo being a Centrian makes a lot of sense. The Canadian Senate sits in Ottawa. The concept of a senate comes from the Roman Republic, who oftentimes were members of the military or retired members of the Roman Military (aka a centurion). It's not that much of a leap in logic and I have no idea why people have a habit of picking at the Senators for using an abstract interpretation for a team logo instead of what the name literally means. We can do this with a good third of the NHL.
Vancouver's team is called the Canucks which last time I checked did not mean a type of orca whale. A Bruin is not a B with spokes coming out of it. A blue jacket is a slang term for an American Revolutionary officer (like a Red Coat was for the English), it has nothing to do with a star and the Ohio flag. A ranger is not a shield or the Statue of Liberty and finally, a Capital is a term that has nothing to do with bald eagles, outside of it being an American symbol... See we can play this game with a lot of teams... please stop as Ottawa using a Centrian as their logo makes way more sense than a lot of logos in sports.

@@UserName-ts3sp in that case I stand corrected! A blue coat was still a slang term used though by the Brits. But, still the logo being just a star and Ohio flag really has very little to do with the term. 🤷♂️ Still love the name, team and imagery was just using them to prove a point.
I thought the Roman theme was lame and contrived from the start. The team was named after the historic Senators team, not the codgers on Parliament Hill and certainly not the ancient Roman guys. For that reason, I prefer the "O" logo and the horizontal striping as a nod to the real inspiration for the name. I thought the O should have been more squared-off like the Ohio State logo to avoid the obvious "zero" jokes, but I've leaned that the oval shape is what the old-time Sens wore, so I'm OK with that. Let's make the arena a no-centurians zone.
A centurion has nothing to do with Ottawa is the issue. The whale is used for the canucks because Orca’s are common around Vancouver. The Capitals use the eagle because it’s the national animal, it’s like the Sens using symbols of the federal government. What does the Centurion have to do with the city of Ottawa?

My point was logos are extrapolations of the name and are not literal as half the league's logos are not literal... and I guess also by your logic a lot of teams names and logos are bad? Did you know Penguins are not found in Pittsburgh either? Or how there are no gold clad knights in Vegas? Last time I checked armoured knights stopped being a thing before Vegas was even founded... And while New Jersey is not a pleasant place to live there are not literal devils in New Jersey.
As a Sens fan I gotta say... I actually find the current jerseys just fine.

Hot take Ottawa's current look is one of the best in the nhl. I know I'm in the minority but I love the colors and logo
I do get nostalgic over that look just a year out. Out of all the Reebok Edge era jerseys Ottawa's was one of the best. Just so happened that Tampa and Pittsburgh used similar templates which kinda made Ottawa's less unique... but you can see the jersey itself is inspired by Ottawa's 2007 home jersey with the arm stripes and you can even see prototypes where the toga stripe was attempted to be incorporated into the jersey. This is probably why it looked the best in Ottawa's colours and design compared to Tampa which came off as a mess and Pittsburgh's which was kinda bland. The bold red and black with the dash of white really made it pop on the ice. It's not a traditional hockey jersey, and while breaking tradition did not work for a lot of clubs Ottawa's 2007-2020 home and away looked sharp!
It is a very underrated set and will probably come back for a Heritage Classic within the next 20 years. But, I do expect the toga jersey to comeback in some way first. It is a forgone conclusion a version of the =O= jersey to comeback as the alternate or Heritage Uniform next year... maybe a red version of the Heritage Jersey (not the Silver =O=, but a red version of the old black jersey). That style of jersey was a very popular jersey in Ottawa and nationally, I mean when Rihanna wears your gear you know you made something stylish.
The Scooby-Doo eyes jersey, and nashville's sleep deprived/drugged sabertooth jersey always make me smile and chuckle no matter what kind of day I had. I love them for that
Love the big O, it's simple but if you are familiar with the history of hockey in Ottawa and have seen the photos of the old teams, the Reebok heritage jerseys (the NHL100 Classic version is not as nice) are beautiful. History has a certain weight and allure to it, people do not question the equally simple looks of Montreal or Toronto, because there is such a familiarity and love built up for those teams over the past 100 years. I do like the current jersey as well, but when I look at the O jersey it just looks like a genuine, timeless hockey jersey where the current jersey doesn't.
I’ve also always liked the one at 1:23, I wouldn’t mind a re-branding of that logo and look but I’d also make up a red one (for home games) to match it...and possibly bring back the black as an alternate at a later date
To me that logo seems to best exemplify the look and team name of the Ottawa Senators, you’ve got the big ‘O’ for Ottawa (which should really stand out anyway being their home city) decorated with the helmet senator soldier and then the name ‘OTTAWA SENATORS’ adorning the otter half circle...I mean that logo and design were creative lightning in a bottle if you ask me a fresh clean and creative look!
The “Scooby Doo Eyes” are nightmare fuel to me. Lol

I seen one jersey of the parliament logo as the primary. I’m in love with it. As a sens fan I’d love if we rebranded to that and maybe kept the o as a alternate jersey

The current sens jersey looks sharp in person. A lot of people say it's ugly but I like it, except the O jerseys, it looks like a zero to me and it feels like they are insulting them self. But that's just me. Go sens Go

The only change I would make with the black alternate with the gold leaf would be bringing back the original Sens logo but without the name spelled out.

Torn between the original and the current as the best. The rebrand if it happens probably will be the O with the stripes.
My favourite is the 'O' Jersey with the sliver strip (current alternate), which I hope they shift to in a couple of years. I liked the original logo and hate the "scooby-doo" one.
I disagree with the Vancouver Millionaires argument as their Stanley Cup win was under the Challenge system and was before the current NHL formed , whereas the Ottawa Senators are the first NHL-era Stanley Cup Champions. The current Ottawa Senators Franchise may not be a direct continuation of the original, but then no NHL franchise is. I don't see why the first NHL stanley cup win can't be claimed in spirit - just leave it out of the stats book.
The only other NHL-era Stanley Cup win that isn't associated with a current franchise is from the Montreal Maroons (another team that didn't make it out of the Great Depression).
The secoond black senators jersey wth the white stripe added to it is my favorite senators jersey.

Red, white and black are the official colours of Canada, so it makes sense.for the capital city teams to use them.
That black jersey with the white and red stripes is pretty sharp, the white version of it is pretty good too
i love the sens but i like the Reebok much better than the adidas. the striping and the font on the jerseys is just much nicer

I don't want to say you "skipped" the set of jerseys that were introduced for 2007/2008, because that's technically the same design they use today. However, I did want to say that I think the font change between those and the current set makes a huge difference. Are you a bigger fan of the previous rounded font or the current block font? I personally like the rounded font better. The block font, to me, throws it all off and I've yet to get used to it. (Disclosure/context: I have been a Senators fan since probably around about 2003.)

So jealous of Shannon's collection. I only have 3 NHL jerseys, 2 Canucks, 1993/94 #1 (McLean) & 2008/09 #22 (D. Sedin) and a Jets 2016/17 #26 (Wheeler), the McLean jersey is so worn out I don't wear it anymore.
I really want to have either the red or black O jersey to be the home while the other becomes the alternate. And then the cream O jersey becomes the away. As a sens fan I would be completely on board with doing that. Although I don’t mind our current jerseys

Rebuilding forever? They were one OT goal away from the Cup finals three years ago and didn't start their salary-dumping "rebuild" until halfway through the next season. The rebuild is far from over, but it hasn't been all that long so far compared to most.

You haven't shown the complete set of early jerseys. The first gen whites and blacks, had laurels in the logo (Not the text 'Ottawa Senators' as you show).

They really need to go back to and embrace the 'O' logo when they rebrand. The black one is my personal favorite.
Nope, do not want the "O" as our main logo, it's good on a third or heritage jersey but is way to bland for a main logo. An updated version of the original logo would be my preference.

I really hope they nail the rebrand. The “O” one is probably their best look ever, but it’s not particularly amazing.
I know Ottawa's jerseys get a lot of hate but I actually like them. The only part I don't like is the armpit strip, but if they redid the striping it would look fine. Yeah, their logo isn't amazing but it's better than the O. The O was a temporarily cool look in the early 2010s I feel like, but it doesn't have lasting power. Having your whole logo just be a letter just seems weak and generic, and makes you look like a college team.
Keep the logo, change the stripes.

I honestly don't see us doing anything other than a 2D throwback or going back to the =O=.
I'd *_love_* for them to go to an updated 2D logo on a version of the alternate with the laurel stripes with the Peace Tower as the secondary. Then you can use the =O= as a third and maybe bring out a white version as a fourth if that whole idea goes forward.
Keeps the =O= look around for those that want it, but I don't think them essentially cosplaying as that franchise is a wise move. They're not the Silver Seven, they shouldn't try to look like them as the primary look.
Big fan of their previous jerseys specifically because the number design was unique. Now it's generic and ruined.

The current senators jerseys look like they were made for a minor hockey team that are trying to be the big team but failed miserably. The numbers on the back look gross as well.

I know it's a theme with Ottawa, but I just find red and black to be incredibly boring. Especially in the NHL where so many teams use it... I really hope Seattle doesn't.
The original Ottawa Senators were one of the first teams (and the first team in the NHL) in hockey to use Red, White and Black which is where the current team took the colours from. It is why Chicago could not use that colour scheme when they first entered the league and used black and white. They only added red when Ottawa left the league in 1934. Also, I think only four teams in the NHL use that colour combo (OTT, NJ, CHI, CAR) as Arizona uses Burgandy not red proper (and seem to be using Burgandy, Black, Cream and Green moving forward) so out of 32 teams, only four using it is not that common ;)
