    Just make sure to clean all of the metal filings off of the roll pin. Spray it off with brake cleaner. Great video!

    What would it be if the selector shaft doesnt move

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  Před 6 lety

      Do you mean at the shifter inside or at the trans with the cable disconnected?

    • @rudyespinoza6501
      @rudyespinoza6501 Před 6 lety +1

      MotorCity Mechanic. the shift mechanism went out and the shifter does not move even when the lock release is engaged. The trans is stuck in reverse gear. So i disconnected the shift cable from the shaft on the trans and tried moving the shaft between the gears but it seems to be stuck in reverse gear. Just not sure why its not letting me switch the shaft if the cable is disconnected.

      I have never seen that happen before. There is a rare issue where I have seen the roller come off the piece that gives you that "feel" of being in gear. Looks like you need to remove the trans pan that covers the valve body and inspect to see whats going on. Never seen that issue on this trans before but there can always be a first time. Have you had a chance to get it checked further yet?

    Hi,
    Hi, My car (VW Routan 2010 3.8) has a 62TE transmission and when I shift gear to D the engine shuts off but it runs ok when shift to R, also no problem on N and P. Any idea ?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  Před rokem

      There’s a good chance that the torque converter is staying engaged and stalling the engine. It could be for different reasons…..possible valve body issue

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  Před 5 lety

      It will depend on what trans it has. If its the 6 speed like in the video that it will be the same, if is the 4 speed then completely different. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe.

      @@albertmurray5700 A bad EGR valve can cause the engine to die when coming to a stop. There may certainly be other causes, but that fixed it on my T&C. In my case, I was getting a CEL code for random misfires and an EGR-specific code.
