Hey Brother! Now THAT'S a definition of a real pickup truck. Not the wimpy new ones that look like a 4 door minivan with a short box attached to it that need a tiny little microchip so it can even run. God Bless you for showing us how it used to be and wishing it was that way again.
Modern trucks have become minivans
@@danreed7889 yeah right, 😂
it's a shame there aren't ANY super long bed single cabs nowadays
@@deez8202 When today's co called pickups are nothing but a truck/minivan hybrid.
@@lonnyjaw yeh
That truck is absolutely perfect, just the right amount of dents and patina for its age and runs like a top. Love the old school skinny tires too. I would daily drive the hell out of it.....but I imagine she would be costly at the pumps but so worth it. Beautiful rig.
Agreed
Worth every penny !!!
Same words from me - well said!!! It's set just the way it is
I had one just like this in upstate NY while in the service. It was a UHAUL company truck which had 45k and was perfect except for the rusted cab mounts, which I changed. Loved to drive it. It was so solid feeling in every way. Sold it to a sergeant for 700 when I left.
My 1972 360 used to get 12 mpg. My buddy put a 390 in his and gets 14-15
Man that doesn't like a highboy ain't no friend of mine.... she's looking like the prom queen all dressed up. Sure, there are supposedly millions made but you show me how many are still a daily driver.... 7.50 sixteen tires were for me the best all around mud and snow, ice or other tire. Glad to see you keeping us looking through the back windows of your place.... kinda like heaven to a old mechanic like myself. Thank you very very much for sharing this post
I had a 1971 F250 4 speed manual back in 1980 and it was the best truck I've ever had. Miss it to this day.
My grandpa had one just like it. He would make me drive him out to haul firewood when I was 14 years old. Loved that truck.
Nice truck. Old school is good school
Look at that loyal Ford. You can count on your Ford's.
Love the manual choke. I had a 1979. Plymouth volare with a 340 from a 68 barracuda with a manual choke and I swore by that thing in the winter. Cool old truck man.
That's the 71 I learned to drive in. I'll take that over my 07 bullet proofed 07. Classic
Love the "snick" sound of the old T18 trans! I miss my 79.
Mine was a 300 I6, with a T18. Could pull anything with Granny
You've gotta love those old highboys. I got so spoiled using them on the rural fire department, I have always wanted to get one of my own. Isn't there something great about popping the hood on one of your vehicles and seeing a fresh clean rebuilt engine in the bay? Although it's no surprise the donuts are leaking, even on a fresh FE LOL
The wooden idle stick brings back so many good memories.
Real truck. That’s what I use to do in the one ton fords I drove for work in the eighties. Stick on the gas pedal to keep it on fast idle. Love the tires. And nothing wrong with it little exhaust leak. Makes her sound good. Thanks for memories.
You can't ever beat an old car or truck! From seeing these, as a kid in the 90s, I can attest to that. Lol. Nostalgia! 😆😎
Another good old truck and the motor look so good nice paint job on the engine. Spring coming soon hopefully the snow will coming to a end.👍
This brings back a lot of memories as a kid riding around with my dad while he checked road signs for his job. As a teenager, I had a 59' Ford 3/4 ton with a staight 6 engine, three on the tree manual tranny- it was a certified stump puller. It drove like a lumber wagon, but it was a great old truck. My current truck is an 03' F-150. Sticking with old school, I went with taller, skinny tires like we used to put on our trucks back in the day- only I put a set of Toyo all terrain tires on. I'll be laughing as I pass by the jokers who have ridiculous offset rims on their trucks stuck in the snow, lol.
That’s awesome! I couldn’t agree more, the tall skinny tires will go a lot of places those big fat tires and wheels won’t. Can’t beat the old extra tractions. Thanks for watching!
tall skinny tires and a set of tire chains will get you most places in the winter, lol.
These old vehicles have way more character than all new vehicles.
Man the frost on the engine reminded me of those blue porcelain kettles/percolators.
Might jot that down as a future paint job idea haha
I had a 1971 Ford F250 Highboy just like that, it was maroon in color. It still had the factory split rims on it. I had a compressor under the hood and a throttle lock on the dash. Carried an air hose behind my seat so I could air up my tires. Had an 8 track stereo in it. 😀
Was a great truck. I wish I would have kept it.
I used to have a '74 F-250 camper special, 390. What beauty
A man's truck! Crisp 4 speed tik tak shifts.
Awesome...62yrs old and drove ford pickups and CJ-7s all my life.
I started using that copper high temp silicone on all my exhaust fittings. Over a year on a 77 chev with a 350 and headers. And my 98 6.5 diesel has it now too. No leaks.
Iconic Vehicle. Everytime I hear the word pickup, this Ford apears in my mind.
Zip ties and backyard all in one night. Pretty cool night. That highboy is nice .👌✌MINT.
Dude...... Sweet ride...... You did awesome with the rebuild last summer. Woohoo!!
You and zip ties both uploaded, what a treat
Minty
Love them old Fords thanks for sharing!!
Beautiful engine in a beautiful truck, it never spun a tire climbing out of that snow bank!
Excellent truck. Keep it alive
Thanks for the reminder of my distant youth although I go back much further. Reminds me of what real trucks and automobiles were like and the days when life was an adventure.
Makes me wanna watch northern exposure again just for the great trucks.
Great looking F250. I miss my 1976 Ford F150 with the 360FE V8.
When I was in highschool (late 90's), my buddy had one just like this. It was painted red, but it had greatly faded over the decades. He had named it "Pink Thunder."
Noisy, smelly truck, no cats... fun times & I always say that the last American truck was made 30+ years ago.
Nice old Ford !!!
Time for a new windshield though ! 👍
when I was a kid my friends dad was a car salesman and he brought one of them home, I was in love from that day on
Badass truck. I had a lifted 1975 f250 when trucks were trucks! Young man I'd never get rid of that truck
I just bought a 93 F250 and love the nostalgia of it. Watching this makes me want one from the 70's
Considering it’s been a little while , or longer , since it’s last start up , it pretty much started right up after building up fuel line pressure .
It sounds great and looks the part . A nice fresh build that you did a fabulous job on . Clean and NO leaks 👍 . Your making me appreciate ford all over again . I haven’t technically owned a ford since I once had a 1970 ford LTD but still have my respect for them . That sir is a goin’ to town rig !
A cold start , even though it’s warmed up somewhat , in Alaska , still is colder then where I live , in New York . Upstate is COLD but downstate where I am isn’t near as extreme ( usually ) most of the time . Appreciate that you hold the clutch in while cranking the engine as we are supposed to . I’ve been taught that and pretty much adhere to it as well . Not just for safety , but better for the starter motor . That transmission ( T18 ? ) shifts nice , no slop in the handle and sounds smooth , no feedback from the synchro’s . I would swear it’s rebuilt or at least low mileage . Nice ! New clutch too , I’m sure ! 👍
Absolutely love that truck so glad to see another high boy out there love it
Awesome bump side high boy!
Nice truck! Runs great! Makes me want to get my 77 F150 running👍
Well another ford brought back to life and cruising through the snow. 71 or 72 Ford 4 wheel drive was always a classic truck. Thanks for showing that
You got that thing tuned good! For it to start that easy, I love the good ol fashioned timing based engines! And I just love them high boys on stock rims!
John 3:16
That's one tough looking truck!
Love the engine sound, and the smal clicking while shifting 👍
I love those old trucks they sure don't make them like that any more, good job on that motor looks great and sounds very strong love your content keep the videos rolling.👍 Thanks
Right on. Great ol Ford. Love those trucks.
Goddamn, How i miss my 71 highboy... Cant belive I sold it.
Love the tough old Fords. Yours is a real "tractor" bruh. Keep it forever.
Awesome job. Plays Mr Majestyk theme. That's when truck was a truck. When they filmed that movie they took a 68 and beat the hell out of her. And she still ran. I hope to see her fully restored. And if you sell her take her down to Texas. I guarantee you. Should be sold in 30 minutes the moment you put the for sale sign down
I think the red highboy is my favorite of the Fords you have. Next would be the military truck with the portable welder on it.AL B.
Sweet tyres
Kool truck my dad had a 1971 F250 yellow and black interior enjoy your truck
That’s a cool ole truck playing in some good ole snow.
1:00 that motor looks so clean
Cool truck
Oh yeah!! Those were the days!! Thanks for sharing.
What's not to love here? Awesome old lifted truck with a fresh engine rolling through Alaska. Fun stuff!
Pretty sure it doesn't have a lift kit...looks like a factory Highboy to me.
They came from the factory that way.
Truck is simply perfect!
Beautiful truck. I had a '71 in green, miss it even more now.
I had a 1967 short bed 4 wheel drive no dents no rust it was cherry first year of that body style best truck ever I really miss that old truck hope you restore yours 👍
Love it. 4x4 build definitely in the future for me.
I had a 1971 f150, 6 cycliner. You could tune it up standing in the engine compartment with the hood up and didn't get wet. Thanks for the memories
Beautiful truck
Hello Alaskan..Great video here, in fact all your videos are fantastic. The 360 sounds great and started right up in that brutal cold. I watch for all your videos, as I'm now putting my 72' F-250 Highboy back on the road after 39 years of storage. Keep up the good work up there brother.
Solid old truck with a great looking motor 👍🏻
I ordered a 79 shorty with low gears ,300 six and a stick . Too low and it could pull down a house but was terrible off road . Sounds crazy but the next Ford ordered was a 97 Off road pack and got the last low gears . It was a stick with a 4. 6 Black and silver Lariat . It had the Mazda transmission . It was the new body style at that time. It pulled and hauled okay, but it was the most reliable and best off road truck I've ever had . I'm in Minnesota and for some strange reason it ran best in the mountains and rarely ever had to be towed . It had about 350,000 on it when I sold it . I wish I had it back . I bought my first Ford F -350 2021 with a 460 . It's been good but loves fuel 😎
That's one fine rig.i could hear angels singing when you opened the hood
I could hear the shouts of millions of 10mms stuck somewhere in engine bays celebrating how roomy it is haha.
Manual choke…awesome. I went with an electric choke on my 1971 F250 Highboy. I replaced the exhaust on mine, no leaks…..Very nicely done though!
Thanks for the video! Look forward to see what the weather is up there. All the best to everyone
Love that truck.
We had a 72 F100 Ranger XLT with the 360.
Loved that truck.
Love that truck!!! Good job on it
I have fought the donuts leaking on my 74 390 for 10 years. I put new one in and couple months later I’m right back where I started.
My dream truck 🇺🇸🤠
Love the truck A, good to hear it running. One suggestion, you might consider a heavy coat of urethane bedliner on the floor. I did it to one of my OBS’s and love it. I’ll do them all when I get a chance.
I had this same ride in 74'. Bought from my one owner uncle. Was a fricking awesome truck until an old woman turned in front of me. Totaled! I only got to have it about six months.
Nice truck and a very nice looking engine. Thanks for sharing this treasure.
This truck looks & sounds great
Love your truck . thanks for sharing
your living my dreams man
I loved my 1/2 ton '71 4x4
Excellent video the truck runs really nice with the rebuilt engine
Great truck! Sounds so healthy.
I love this truck. And that motor looks clean as all get out. Lol. I love the 70s era fords. I have ah 77 lariat quad cab with thee 400. Great video.
I love that truck!!!!
That’s one beautiful engine!
That is an incredible truck!
First time on your channel. See this old Ford, had to watch. Love these old things. 😊😀
Really enjoy your content. Can’t wait till summer
What a glorious truck!
Man, what a sweet working machine you've got there. So that's what they're supposed to run like.
My father bought one somewhere back around 1982 that had apparently been ridden hard and put away wet. I think that was reflected in the price but, my goodness, what an unruly, hard to steer, oil burning, loud, no brakes, brutal, clapped out POS that thing was. But, I have to say, it surely did get the job done .... pulling stumps, coaxing large and very heavy granite boulders out of the ground, and, best of all, plowing snow like a beast straight out, well, you know where.
Anyway, good job. I enjoyed the drive. Take care.
That old ferd is such a fucking sweetheart
That moter sounds fresh and healthy
That was really enjoyable.
Cool truck sir. Living the dream alright.
Classic ride, bro!
Awesome bro, love the choke!!
Looks real good, nice job !
Man I wish my 71 looked 1/2 that nice! Nice truck!!
Good ole FEs. Heat up slow cool off fast.
