    I have my dad’s 73 F250 and am starting to restore her. It was the first new vehicle he ever bought and a few months later he brought me home from the hospital in it. I learned to drive in it, had my first date in it and now it is mine. Sadly dad has been gone for nearly 13 years. The truck sat in the yard slowly covered by blackberries…. I trailered it to my house and had her running within 2 days. The first trip was to the car wash and the second was to pickup a U-Haul trailer. Trip 3 was a 100 mile round trip with the trailer and a full load to move my family and she didn’t skip a beat!
    Not bad for not being started for 9 years…

      Awesome story!! Glad you could get er back on the road to enjoy again. Love stories like this, old trucks are meant to be driven and used!

    1973 was a time back when trucks were made for real tough labourers, meant to haul supplies to the job site and the refuse to the dump. Nowadays they're family haulers for the most part, most suburban examples have rarely, if ever, seen a serious load put in the bed

    I enjoyed the ride! The Dentsides are my favorite Ford truck generation. Dad had a new 73 F100 when I was 9, 302 3 on the tree, later traded for a new 77 F150 Supercab Custom with the Explorer tape stripe and mag-like hubcaps package. That one had the 351M and C6. Dad put glasspacks on it and it sounded great. I'll bet your truck has many admirers.

      Thanks for the story!! Main reason why I enjoy driving it is all the people that I talk to that bring up memories because of it. Love putting smiles on people's faces with it.

    73 was the first year for those 6th gen Ford F-series pickups & were produced up through 79. The 2nd gen Broncos on the other hand which have the same body design weren't produced yet til 78 & like the pickups, they were also produced up through 79.

      Much appreciated! It's definitely not the most pristine exaple and has some patina if you would call it that. 3 years since I got it back on the road and still hasn't missed a beat!

    How many speeds have this transmission? I can't figure out the number of the speeds of this transmission.
    This truck is a master piece, the torque is powerful

    • @MineTwine45
      @MineTwine45  Před 2 lety +2

      4 speed! I usually start off in 2nd because the first gear is a real low ratio for towing.

      @@MineTwine45 that's really interesting. Many years ago my grandpa had a 1984 Dodge Ram 350, for 3 passengers, standard and with a gasoline V8 motor. It had 4 speeds but most of the time the used to start off in 2nd speed because the first speed worked like a Low Speed.
      Nice truck. One day I hope to find a buy a truck like yours in this video.

      @@abrahamruiz345 Sounds like it could be a very similar transmission. Ford/Chevy/Dodge all used New Process transmissions back in the day. Good luck finding a truck! Chances are they are a lot less rusty down there in Mexico than here in the Rust Belt in the US.

    which engine is this, and whats the exhaust setup? personally I find the sound to be perfection and want my f250 to sound this way
    Hoping to get the exhaust details and engine. I'm more than happy to put a mild 390 or 460 in place of my 360, but also don't have to :3

    • @MineTwine45
      @MineTwine45  Před 2 lety +2

      The engine is a 390, has stock manifolds with two 24" Thrush Glasspacks in a true dual formation. No x-pipe or anything. Dumps right beside the rear axle.

      @MineTwine45  Před 3 lety

      @@bobbydetecting8152 I usually get low to mid teens for fuel mileage. It has a 4:10 in the back and with no overdrive it turns some RPM on the highway. Either engine is good, obviously the bigger the better but they are roughly the same engine design wise besides the displacement.

      @@laneforth8095 As they get older, the buttons will get sticky. It'll open but the button with have a bit of a time going back to it's original spot. A little PB Blaster or WD-40 to the button on the backside of the door, push the button in a few times without shutting the door and it'll work like new after that. Mine did it and all it took was a bit of PB and it was good to go.
