Dr. Heavenly and I sit down and discuss the firing of Nick Cannon by Viacom for what some considered to be offensive and Anti-Semetic comments.
    Excerpt from Vulture.com
Nick Cannon has been fired by ViacomCBS over anti-Semitic remarks Cannon made on his podcast, Cannon’s Class. In the episode, which was filmed last year but posted two weeks ago, Cannon was in conversation with rapper Professor Griff, who left Public Enemy in 1989 after making similar anti-Semitic comments in a Washington Post interview. Cannon asserted the truth of a number of conspiracy theories in the episode, referencing “the Rothschilds, centralized banking, the 13 families, the bloodlines that control everything even outside of America.” Cannon insisted that the conversation was not hateful, because “Semitic people are black people.” “You can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people,” he said. He also voiced admiration for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
In a statement on Facebook yesterday, Cannon addressed the episode, writing, “I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric,” but did not directly apologize for the podcast episode, instead saying, “I encourage more healthy dialogue and welcome any experts, clergy, or spokespersons to any of my platforms to hold me accountable and correct me in any statement that I’ve made that has been projected as negative.” Cannon elaborated on his thoughts in a statement to Fast Company, saying, “There’s no malice or negative intent, but in a time like 2020 we got to have these conversations.” Responding to criticism he faced for not apologizing in his Facebook statement, Cannon said, “To me apologies are empty. Are you forcing me to say the words ‘I’m sorry’? Are you making me bow down, ’cause then again, that would be perpetuating that same rhetoric that we’re trying to get away from.”
ViacomCBS responded to the controversy today in a statement announcing that they have “terminated” their relationship with Cannon. “While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him,” the statement said. Cannon had a longstanding relationship with ViacomCBS, including hosting shows on Nickelodeon and MTV like Wild ‘N Out and Lip Sync Battle Shorties.

I believe that Viacom was looking for a reason to fire him ever since he's become so outspoken following George Floyd's death. They were waiting for him to slip up and make a mistake to boot him.

During my schooling my turning in my work my teachers wouldn’t believe my work came from me and told me to bring my parents up to the school. Well, honey they must’ve thought I came from a one parent household until both of my parents showed up and let them teacher’s know what you guy’s are teaching my daughter is white washed. This entire podcast is disheartening. This is a prime example as to why we need to have our own safe places and our own media markets (cable network, streaming network, production company, financial mechanisms, etc.). You can't have this type of conversation when you are in financial danger of loosing everything....present company included. There are a ton of books that speak to Nick's theories. Black people have been aggrieved by the Jewish community since we arrived in America. They have the right to be offended, but we are offended by their historical transgressions against us as well. Not one time have I heard anyone address those transgressions in the Jewish community. Not once. We also can not expect a group of people to address historical truths that will cause them considerable harm. We have to find out the truth for ourselves and defend our right to tell our truth. We still are not entirely free. This podcast proved that *sigh*.

IDK Funky Dineva.....Nick Cannon did not get this from the Honorable Farrakhan. When he is speaking on Blacks being the Original Chosen People he is actually getting this from the life works and teachings of Dr. Francis Cress Welsing (rip). In my readings and research when the "Nick Cannons" are saying that "they rule" what he is usually referring to is the ownership of rights....whether it is music catalogs and masters....ie (for example Prince writing Slave on his face during his Good Morning America performance and changing his name to a symbol). Ownership in film (Matrix ownership, etc)... Lastly I do not know why Nick would even have Professor Griff on his podcast. That's like me holding a christian bible service and discussing the 16 crucified saviors that came before Jesus.....why would I do this when my audience only knows the bible/Jesus and has no interest in learning anything else. Mr. Cannon should have had his financial house secured (contracts in place, etc) before going down this road.

And why is Heavenly being so condescending to someone with a different viewpoint? Heavenly acts like her education makes her right and that she can't be questioned. Why look down on someone because they may not have a college degree? Heavenly was so disrespectful.

Dineva I love you but what Nick was saying went so far over you and Dr.Heavenly’s heads that you simply couldn’t catch it. It’s been scientifically proven that black people have genetically passed down trauma in our dna from slavery and tribalism and barbaric leanings are also genetically coded. Most human attitudes and behaviour have both a genetic and an environmental component. This is also true for our fear of others who are different to us - xenophobia - and intolerance of their viewpoints - bigotry. Hardwired into the brain’s amygdala region is a fear reflex that is primed by encounters with the unfamiliar.

Black women recognize who the other enemy is. Who shot Megan? But I’ll digress this post is about Nick.

Also, I think Nick may have needed to consult Quentin before he spoke because the way Quentin articulated it was epic! We have to research and fashion our articulation of such matters in ways that are not offensive. The fact that he went and brought a Rabbi and specialist on the topics that he was speaking of shows that he has a desire to learn and re-process the information. Additionally, what Nick did was NOT THE SAME as the Caucasians that have been attacking Black people and bringing harm or police attention to them in unnecessary ways. We have been raised to view Jews through the white mans eyes.

Just like every other ethnicity has been taught to view black people through white fearful eyes. Very true. We have to take time to learn each other.

I worked in Jewish neighborhoods for years. I see them for exactly who they are. They are the same as white people.

Her voice is so irritating. She need to take some of that money and invest in a speech etiquette coach.

Ask Theglutenfreechef If you pay attention to how Quinten is presenting his talking points: he’s organized, articulate, not screaming & constantly pushing around a bad weave. At some point you have to be saying to yourself “geez she’s annoying, I wish he had of done this live solo”. Don’t get me wrong I’m always down for my sistas but I have to call a spade a spade. I think if she’s going to be doing these lives, she has to do better. He’s done her a huge favor by jumping on this live with her because if he hadn’t, you wouldn’t be interested in watching this with just her. At least I wouldn’t.
