I’ve been getting a lot of comments that I’m incorrect with my measurements at around 1:46 when I say 3 kilometers. 3 kilometers is 3000 m which is 1.86 miles which is correct so I don’t know why there’s so much confusion on the measurements I’m stating in the video. However at 2:50 I did mean to say 2500 m and not kilometers.

I feel like the Abrams might have had better luck with HEAT - part of the issue with balancing Maus is that it's no good against post-war HEAT-slingers.
M829A2 APFSDS of abrams has more pen that M830 HEAT shell.
@@jebediahkerman3826 The M830 still goes through 480mm of armour - twice as much as the Maus has on its hull. I think it would probably be more consistent at messing up the crew and other things inside the tank than just punching a hole through it would.
@@calvinwallace2937 apfsds spalls more than a heat shell because it travels inside the tank making spall when the apfsds hits an armour plate or module while heat only creates a single jet that can be caught by magic fuel tanks. Apfsds is superior than heat unless its an extremely long range engagement where apfsds has traveled so far it cant pen a maus but wt dosent have big enough maps for that
@@jebediahkerman3826The M830 can pen at angles the APFSDS can’t in game. In real life it wouldn’t be bouncing as much as it does in game. But in game the HEATFS would have more post pen damage, and pen at more insane angles.
@@llthk138HEATFS has higher dmg multipliers. It’s not 105 HEATFS but yeah depends.
Realistically, in a tank battle, if your tank is penetrated there is like a 95% chance your crew is bailing out regardless of how bad the internal damage actually is. This was especially true with how much worse most of the German tank crews were towards the end of the war due to attrition. This is why heavy tanks died after WW2. One penetration and all the effort that went into manufacturing the behemoth went to waste. When APDS and later APFSDS were developed, armor penetration became so effective on guns that could be mounted on a medium chassis that massive tanks were made redundant. Even tanks that weren't penetrated had crews bail out, like Tigers that had all their optics destroyed
Pretty much why Battleships fell out of favor. Anti-ship missile warfare over the horizon that far outranged big battleship cannons, far more accurate, and vastly superior armor penetration, not to mention carriers with entire airwings that carry anti-ship missiles. Heavy and thick belt armor as well as massive cannons became obsolete to lighter faster missile cruisers and carriers.
Heavy tanks died because technology improved and the benefits of it compared to mediums were getting less and less

@@slavking992 Yep and the funny thing is the imperial system we use in the US isn't even purely imperial it has metric integrated in certain parts.
We don't use imperial. We use US customary, because our take on Imperial actually does differ a little bit from Imperial. And no, sorry. It's a fixture that's here to stay forever, though we might consider it if all the smelly loser countries that use the decimal comma and thousands separator point decide to stop being smelly losers that are utter laughing stocks even amongst metricese speaking nations.
Also note too, in real life situations, most single-pen events are enough to make the tank crew bail. They arent going to stay in a tank if the driver and gunner get plastered, and the tranny is metal shavings. So i dont think it would have mattered as much.

One thing that really peeved me was that in the first battle the abrams could have used commander sight to fire and peek over the hill line while remaining covered. Though, he could have been using commander sights and the match replay wasn't displaying it

@@jackschoonover6418 the only way a .50 is able to kill a maus by shooting right down the barrel to damage the breach and possibly kill a crew member. no where else can the .50 pen the maus as the the penetration on the .50 in WT is about 36mm's and the maus has at least 100mm's to 200mm's of armor all around. so please if you don't know what you're talking about shut up

The problem with this sim is that the Abrams was never designed to hold a line. It was designed to punch through them. High speed, rapid firing engagements. It's the modern take on the panzer 3 and panzer 4's. Yes it is designed to take hits from RPG type projectiles but never to get hull down or sidescrape a building.
I feel The M1A2 turret front would be impenetrable by the MAUS gun (especially with lack of apdfs) from a normal distance.
It is also designed for hulldown, why would it not be designed for hulldown? all the crews are on the turret for maximum protection, along with a 9 or 10 degrees of depression, and a very thick amount of turret armor. That said, most tanks are designed like that because they are also designed for hulldown if they have to hold a line. The high speed of abrams also lets it take a position and hold the line, and if needed to retreat or push, it can do what needs to be done. It's not singlehandedly designed to punch through enemy defense line.
The Abrams was designed to do all the roles. So what you said is factually incorrect. If what you said was true it would no longer be an “MBT”. But a “Light Tank/Medium Tank”.

Bit of some info the maus we have in game and in real life is a mixture of 2 different models one of a turret where the hull was destroyed and one where the turret was destroyed but the hull survived. Both being completed and fully operational at that.

Yeah I’ll try to do more in the ones to come after the next vid that comes out since I already recorded the footage and a major game update doesn’t let me go back to record more
the biggest problem with these "comparisons" is they get to use video game controls for wwii vehicles that would have been so much less coordinated and responsive. not to mention the situational awareness difference between using sight glass back then compared to cameras and thermals.
Like to see versions of m48 and m60s duke it out to see who's better (not sure about the ambt though, seems pretty op)

You have to take the stats from any game with a grain of salt as there is bound to be some amount of balancing for fair play. In reality, an APFSDS round from any modern MBT would punch through a Maus like a hot knife through butter and easily destroy it in one hit. The first battle would have been over before it even began.

2C bis horde vs Abrams when? They survive very well at top tier because of just how many crew they have (and they're compartmentalized too like a battleship). The relatively thin armor also spalls less from APFSDS.
the abrams has a massive technical advantage the maus was good for its time it would have crushed any russian tank back then
imagine a Modern day MBT that weighs 188 tons, it would have to be the most valuable asset to defend as a single bomb could kill it, (yes it should have APS for slower projectiles)

should of done 4 abrams vs them cause in US Army we have 4 tanks to a platoon also as i dont play warthunder so im not sure how realistic it is but i was a crew memeber in an m1a2sep in early 2000's with the abrams you can fire on the move, it seems like the guys driving the abrams stood still to much you should always be moving in and out of cover every shot
Wow an actual member of a tank crew ! If they moved out of cover they would be dead in seconds because a far bigger portion of the tank would be exposed and with a single lucky shot disabling the tracks everyone would turn and shoot and most probably kill.Hull down theyre unpenetrable from the ww2 gun on the maus and thus safe.Although with enough hits of that calliber the armor of the abrams would turn to dust and eventually get penned but this is a game.On a final note yes they do have a stabilizer in game but they would miss more shots if they moved also as i said earlier expose themselfs a lot more.
From experience is being a tanker I know that Abrams is easily destroy those mouses in under 5min

Dumb, just like the original. Not only are planes still very much a thing but guided missiles are a huge factor on the modern battlefield. A gigantic, heavy, crawling vehicle like the Maus would be a perfect target for any long range guided missiles to delete off the face off the Earth.

@@creatorchris712 A laser of that power requires too much energy to ever be mounted on a tank. That’s why the only working ones are either directly plugged into the power grid or on naval ships. The auto cannon would take up too much space to be of use. That’s why no one puts extra auto cannons on tanks after they tested that idea in the 60s and 70s. And that still doesn’t solve the issue of transporting or maintaining the obese thing. Modern tanks are already on the verge of being to heavy.

using the Abrams speed and ability to fire while moving, The abrams were used wrong, use the speed and attack from all sides, the mouse turret is not quick enough to land a shot on a moving tank, circle and attack from rear
