In his 18 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kobe's time was split between two numbers- number 8 and number 24. Which of those was the better version of Kobe, was it the younger Kobe in his athletic prime with no. 8, or the older, slower but more experienced Kobe with no. 24? Kobe has had a range of teammates from his time on the Lakers, from Shaquille O'Neal, to Kwame Brown and Smsh Parker, to Pau Gasol and even Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, but the one thing that was constant was Kobe Bryant's mamba mentality and killer instinct. Give me Frobe all day 8 was a monster killer all the players who played against him even said it. 8 got the 3 pointer record at 12. Gave Michael Jordan 55 as a farewell 8 got the poster dunks 8 became the Black Mamba yea he lost in the playoffs but, that 05-06 season was still one of the greatest single seasons for a Player that is up there with Wilt 50.4 PPG Michael Jordan 88-89 season where he won 🏆 M.V.P and D.O.P in the same year up there.
As someone who’s watched the NBA my entire life, Kobe is the closest to MJ we’ve seen. Not Lebron, or anyone else. Lebron is just superhuman but isn’t a killer like MJ/Kobe

Who are you to say he was undeserving of being on the all defensive team a couple of times?
That statement tends to be pretty universally agreed upon by fans, and I was trying to be fair to both sides of the argument for both numbers, so hence why I said it

Being fair to both sides would have been to just use the actual facts of the matter, the facts of the matter is that his selection to those all defensive teams were “universally agreed upon” by the global panel that is authorized to select the players for those teams. So hence why he was deserving and not undeserving of those accolades.
Dude. Those awards are selected by the media, and the NBA media is well known for being very dumb and inconsistent with their voting on player awards. Most Laker fans who watched Kobe in his later years will tell you he wasn't playing defence like he use to because he just wasn't, and I showed examples of his lackadaisical defensive effort in the video which illustrate that point

But Anyway if the panel that selects the awards are dumb and inconsistent, then you shouldn’t acknowledge the accolades that they give out. You referred to the media as "the global panel" as if everyone that votes on the awards sits down around a table and votes. So forgive me for momentarily thinking you had no idea wtf you're talking about. The media is always inconsistent with voting but for the most part the players that receive awards and accolades deserve so. However there are many instances where it's blatant that they are just clearly wrong, e.g. how tf does Marc Gasol win Defensive Player of the Year but also not even make all defensive first team in the same season.
But in regards to Kobe, I don't understand why you're getting so hung up about me saying his later all defensive team selections were undeserved when that's literally not a controversial opinion that even Laker fans who are remotely objective will agree with, and there is a lot of evidence of that by reading people's opinions on Reddit about Kobe's later defensive team selections. It makes sense why he wasn't playing defence as hard as he was getting older and more injury prone, and the teammates around him were beginning to diminish in production, requiring greater offensive production from himself. It was a combination of wanting to conserve energy for the offensive side of the ball as that allowed him to produce more for his team overall, but also being careless and lazy throughout the regular season. I literally showed multiple examples of 24 not trying to close out on a shooter who's only a couple extra steps away. It doesn't have to be one or the other as you so dramatically put it in your last comment. Sorry I didn't emphasise Kobe being lazy in his later years in the video as I didn't want to unnecessarily disrespect the legend.
And when you say "who are you" to choose if he deserves his all defensive teams or not- bro. It's not like I'm making a crazy outlandish controversial hot take here. It's me and fucking everybody else that watches the NBA and has an understanding of that time period and how Kobe played that's saying that. If you're saying Kobe legitamitely deserved his last couple all defensive teams, especially all defensive first teams, then you're the one who's making the controversial hot take, not me.
