- The Story of Jim Boylen and the Chicago Bulls isn't a pretty one, but is one that must be told nonetheless- lest we risk we risk the re-occurrence of such horror in the future. The Chicago Bulls players that endured the horrors of Jim Boylen (not to be confused with former Chicago Bulls head coach Jim Boylan) include Zach Lavine, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr, Tomas Satoransky, Coby White, Thaddeus Young, Kris Dunn, Daniel Gafford, Otto Porter Jr and more. Under the reigns of Jim Boylen, the Chicago Bulls were not only disappointing, but actually really shit. Bulls fans can thank the famed Garpax duo of Gar Forman and John Paxson, with a bit of help from Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf, for Jim Boylen remaining as head coach for as long as he did. Revisiting this video as I watch Lauri dominate in the league....it's crazy how much damage Jim did to this franchise in such a short amount of time
Lauri was already averiging over 18 points and 9 rebounds on his second year… despite Boylen’s lunatic coaching. And now people are surprised about his play. Nobody should be surprised really. Sir Charles’ comment on it was that he’s suprised Lauri didn’t make it to all star already earlier.

Yeah you're probably right about Lavine. At that point in the video I was trying to play devil's advocate and say everything nice about Boylen that I possibly could- which was not an easy thing to do lol.
There's definitely potential for a future Garpax video, just not for a while because I've got a few different ones planned first and they take me ages to make. Also I'd need to do a lot more research on the subject as, like I say in the video, I'm not a Bulls fan and haven't really followed their decisions and mistakes over the years much at all.
But ay theres definitely enough juicy content there for a solid video, so definitely might make it a little bit down the line

I absolutely agree. You've basically had not one, but TWO rebuilds (Rose trade, then Butler trade). Yet you still keep part of that staff around who failed to build anything new other than a conference finals appearance a decade ago. Now you're going to risk losing your core pieces for a guy who's clearly incompetent at his job. Markkanen & LaVine good enough players who should have superstars (ex. Giannis) wanting to play with them. But Reinsdorf & the Goof Troop are gonna mess around & run them off too 😡🤬. Guess they like rebuilding every 3-4 years 😤
Another difference between Gregg Popovich and Jim Boylen is that Popovich actually had a good relationship with his star player (Tim Duncan), while Boylen alienated Zach Lavine.
