    The death corps plastic kit really sold me on partial monopose kits. Enough options to customize your guys and make them unique, but still easy to put together and with very good posing. Primaris kinda get that for some of their kits, but its hit or miss. Aggressors especially are a kit I want to love even more than I do, but you basically just build the same 3 guys over and over. But, its cool to be able to take a bunch of primaris stuff to use on my firstborn. The shoulder shields are amazing, and some of the posing for weapons and arms is perfect for spicing up my sergeants

  • @morc-at-arms8903
    @morc-at-arms8903 Před 2 lety +28

    Since plastic guardians, Eldar plastic kits always had ball joints in waist, neck and shoulders (even some metal kits had shoulder ball joints) so these were always super posable and I was able to create very dinamic poses for my Guardians and Dire Avengers. Even Striking Scorpions do not really look all that monopose since you can do a lot with the single ball joint sword arm. Downside might be that its also easy to screw it up and make all your troops stargaze etc.

      Yeah, some of the goofs on those joints get pretty gnarly though. I have a wraith knight I didn't give the glue enough drying time for the ankles. Now it is learning forward like it's guest starring in a Michael Jackson music video. Hilarious, but not the intended outcome lol.

    Brenda definitely got the new Ork Boys, but whoever made the Kommandos knew what they were doing. Seems like all the Kill Team kits are being made that way, as dynamic as hero models but still just enough variability to make them all look unique.
    I'm more into AoS than 40K though and the best kit I've ever seen has to be the Rockgut Troggoths, which their website does a terrible job of selling. That kit is an engineering masterpiece and literally any of the 15ish build options makes the models look fantastic.

    Glad you mentioned the Bladeguard, just looking at the sprue it makes you think the bladeguard should have an option for dual wielding swords due to the fact they've got swords for both arms. The fact that GW didn't take that into situation is pathetic, I mean I managed to make a Assault Intercessor Sergent wielding a plasma and bolt pistol akimbo style FROM THE PUSH FIT STARTER SET! And he's got a chainsword on his side as well so these limited loadout options Primaris get are even more aggravating for me.

      @@SWIFTO_SCYTHE1: At no point did I suggest not buying GW models, all I said was that I was going to print some accessories to spruce them up since GW doesn't include enough in the box. In my post I literally said that if they made a bits sprue I would buy it, but they don't so I'll print the bits I need. 2: Even if folks DID start completely 3D printing entire armies as standard it would hardly be the death of the game. Battletech fully endorses 3D printing and can be played on the tournament level using cardboard cut-outs. It isn't as fun, but hardly the death of a game. 3: Frankly many of the better sculptors are selling better models than GW makes.

    I honestly agree with you, the whole multi pose vs mono pose is a nonstarter argument for me. I don't understand why people rail so hard against mono-pose. The Multi pose models are never really good. they are never really that versatile. it's not like you get 10 unique models, just a few with higher arms or lower aimed guns. I would much rather have mono-pose, you can still cut and convert just like multi-pose. and even better is this hybrid option that GW seems to be doing. Also, Eldar are kind of perfect for mono-pose over multi-pose as they are kind of the consummate MSU army. with often only having 5-man squads and most units being a max of ten.

    • @thatangrygerman2076
      @thatangrygerman2076 Před 2 lety +1

      Its because modular makes it way easier to build whatever you want and make your army unique and give it a personal touch. Monopose just makes everything look the same and its hella boring. It curbs creativity and thats just insanely dumb for a hobby like this. If a model is monopose I literally immediately los interest in it. And if you know what you're doing you can make modular models look just as good or even better than monopose ones. Thats why Primaris marines are super lame compared to trueborns, for example.

    the issue I run in to is: The main bodies are still going to look similar. It took some real work to try and get my Primaris Crusader squads not look like 4 times the same models.
    I think I would've had less of a problem with it, if either there were 10 unique models in the box. Or some slight changes, where the legs (which are the biggest offenders) were a bit more, modular.
    I love that the legs are multi part in these kits, but it would be great if they could be configured in a few ways.
    And configure them like: AA, BB, CC, AB, AC, BA, BC, CA, CB
    But allas... I don't think that will happen...

    I can't pick a favoite materal for minis as I've seen companies mess up each one... Like GW can't resin, Wizkids(Star trek attack wing) can't plastic, and warlord games(Bolt action, Victory at sea, Blood red skies.)couldn't do anything a few years ago... Which War lord games now do Resin like GW plasitic, Catalist(Battletech) does Plastic like GW and Corvus Belli can do metal like GW plasitc! So yeah it depends on what a company is good at... Though still a good plastic model is something else.

    I have that Green stuff world sticker on my PC. it's awesome.
    BTW dude, have you used the GS world liquid pigments before? I got a great recipe from Trovarion for doing snow bases with the blue and white liquid pigments, and GS world snow. I'm going to take a it a step further using the frost effect though.
    I got some of those alien turquoise tufts from gamer grass as well, for my frozen bases (as they have a really nice cold look to them) These are going to be for my Black Templar.
    I'm either going with this Frozen Planet look, or if I don't like that I'm going to do a mix of yellow and red desert style base. I really like the mars looking bases for BT, but I would like to make mine a bit more varied so they're not all red. I have seen some awesome ones that are like a mix of earth and mars desert style.
    Really hoping the frozen planet look works though, as been wanting to do something like this for ages. I was originally going to do Valhallan Imperial Guard, but I've gave up hoping for updated Guardsmen kits, and using 3rd party bits is too risky in case I end up wanting to use them at sanctioned events.
    I'll be sure to send you a before/after though once I have some painted up. I'm getting an order from GS world next weekend, so should hopefully have some pics for you in a couple of weeks. Hopefully you will choose to feature them, as that would be awesome.

    You mentioned the Orks, in my opinion the new ones are kind of a downgrade, the new kit looks great but it's very mono pose, options are definitely not there you mentioned with new eldar (you get what 3 shootas of 10 (or 11) boyz, when the whole squad can have it, at least with the arms and putting the chest on legs, you had some options in posing and small conversion, if you want to do something like that with the new boyz (only mono pose option, unlike sm and csm coming in both mono pose and then arm options), which is very strange for something you're gonna have a lot more of then the others.
    Edit: posted before watching full, yeah the chosen weapon option is weird, why not have everything in the box, are people gonna buy a new kit for 2-3 weapons? The new Havocs, so many where hyped for the (then) new railgun.. and you got 1-2 weapon for a 5 man squad, just... what?
    I agree with the Bloodthirster, it's probably the coolest one yet (really like skarbrand) and it's the Bloodthirster that fought Sanguinius to try get Blood Angels over to Khorne, also something different with him, he can be patient and plan things, not just roar and 'blood for the blood god!' blindly, it's the same here though, really really cool model... oh it's Forge World, so resin.. no thanks.
