Crappy value boxes aside, i have no real dramas with the 4 detachments given those teams with 6 detachments arent playing all of them anyway. Zero space marines players are pkaying 1st Company, noone is playing Anvil Siege Force except for fluffy fun reasons, but its not competitive. Stormlance is useful for exactly 1 team, space wolves running thunder cavalry. Bikes suck, which is a shame because they're cool. You're left with Ironstorm, Vanguard Spearhead (not to be sneaky, just to let you move centurions around apparently), Firestorm Assault and Gladius Taskforce. In fairness thats 3-4 decebt detachments but barely a tear would be shed had 1st Company and Anvil not made it into the codex.

I think the issue with the new GSC Combat Patrol is that Atlan Jackals just aren't good. I think there's a good core here of 10 Acolytes and a Ridgerunner, but I'd have liked to see them add 10 Purestrain Genestealers and a Patriarch. I feel like that's a better core to an army for a new player, and gives people who bought the previous box something new. Purestrain Genestealers aren't the meta, but they're better than Jackals, and fit into the army better. Currently it feels like the Jackals were added to the box to move unsold stock.

As a Custodes player I haven't painted any Black Templars this year either, however the way the meta's going, I should probably start, hey?

Jay, I respect your neutrality on this subject and know GW is the primary source of all or most of your videos. But GW is completely anti consumer at this point, they don’t care about their fandom and are more worried about standings with companies like Amazon. I personally keep coming back because you are a fun personality and a great painter, i know you love warhammer, most of us do. But I would watch your videos even if they had nothing to do with GW. 🤓

You've got this paint scheme down, it looks great. The face came out good too. I don't do time challenges, but I will set goals and time targets. Similar but no clock ticking, that isn't a bad idea really! I've only got 20 models left of my 125 models TYRANID army I bought and goal to finish this year, I'm hoping to finish by the end of September. I'll probably beat that date.

Nah I quit 40k, it’s terrible how gw doesn’t understand the lore or fans. Inclusivity fails when wokeness is pushed by tourists in this franchise.

Ultimately I think they have all of their resources in age of sigmar for the new edition release and have not enough hands/energy in the tank to actually go hard on 40k until the edition launch is actually over with. There is many product GW has where there is weird signs of "not enough dev time or not enough .. err.. effort"

I have been out of playing 40k since 1996 and i am not impressed with the newest edition. Think me and the other old ones shall keep to old and gold rules.

A buddy of mine did a lot of the army painting on the warhammer world dioramas. He swears by batch painting in 4s to maximize speed but also for fatigue/getting results done

About colour matching across squads - I reckon an army looks better if squads do vary slightly. It suggests different squads have seen different amounts of action, been exposed to different environments, resprayed at different times and with different batches of paint... Real armies on campaign aren't perfect.

Terminators are the easiest to put together and paint in all of GW ranges

Welcome to AoS for the last 2 years. As they focused on 40k 10th and the leadup to it. A Battletome release and a single character on foot for every army drop. It's the way of their cyclic churn. This year is AoS focused. So 40k releases will slow down and not be the focus for a while.

It took me over a week to finish painting my Darkoath Warqueen... and Jay does almost 10 models in less than a day. 😬😅

40K will only continue once they make narrative army’s only allowed in competitive. I joined in 2018 and the only thing stopping me from playing outside the local shops is the meta chasing 3 unit only army’s AOS is in a worse state competition wise which is incomprehensible some how

Damn Jay, you are speed :D. And the quality does not diminish, love them. But I do wonder about the putty thing protecting the plastic, I never had any issues glueing painted things on painted things, but then again I never tried to remove lets say an arm or any other pice of a miniature X)
