So, from now I have a new favourite Australian song. Thank you, Great Southern Land, for awesome musicians.
I don't think they done a bad song
Seriously though, what would we do without the brilliant work of these guys? 😊😢❤❤
Simon Binks was the most under rated guitarist .... absolutely great taste in his chops ...
Absolutely!
Worked in a Balmain bar once and we were honored to have James Reyne play. He ordered a beer and the bartender said "Mate, love Getaway, this one`s on the house." (brother David Reyne was hosting a Channel 9 travel show at the time). James laughed, took the beer and said "in that case put it on Nine`s tab". Champion behaviour.
Met him once ,opened a Door for him at the Palace in StKilda, he said Thanks mate, lmao
Aussie Outlaw sooo aussie to say that
he can be a bytch..
😀👍
Please transport me back to 1982.
Ah take me back to those days....
Audio engineers should get a medal, these are so well recorded and trap this killer music forever
songwriters, producers, audio engineers, arrangers, everyone involved in the writing, arrangements, producing, studio performing and recording of the crawl best albums deserves a gold medal indeed!
@@ludurigan Mike Chapman produced this record!! Look him up if you are familiar...what a legend!!!
@@chrisattard5732 hey thanks for that heads up mate just spent the last 30 minutes reading wikipedia about him and it is a fascinating read, what a story!
Not a fan of the drum sound though. It is very Phil Collinsish.
@@AntipodianMusic Huh? In what respect?
Glad there were lyrics inside the records in 80’s
I spent an afternoon and evening hanging with James up at the Argyle Diamond Mine about 5 years ago. I was Treasurer of the social club and brought him up to Site for a concert. Very approachable, easy to talk to, and of course what a back log of music to play.
polished diamond...........................not a diamond in the rough!
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.
Amazing song and film clip!!!! Love seeing Bill rock those drums!!!👌🏼Aussie Crawl were brilliant, such amazing talents!!!! Legends!!!! Thank you for the music and the memories, love you all!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I've had this song stuck in my head since reading Bill McDonough's book "Sons Of Beaches." Love the song and definitely recommend the book. Started it on a Friday, finished it in a few days.
@@sharonjensen3016 so true, “Sons of Beaches” is a fantastic read, Bill did a stellar job 👌🏼🌟This is an awesome song to have stuck in your head too!
80s LYRICS ARE LIKE HAVING A PERSONAL CONVERSATION WITH SOMEONE. INTERUPTED WITH BLINDING RIFFS AND CATCHY BASS LINES.
So true
spot on
What a song... timeless
i love this band, a very good old fashioned band
i am from angola, it doesnt matter at all.
Pedro bambi Since you're from Angola what are you doing liking this??? You're not suppose to like only when you eat us 👍👽👍
This is the best cure for homesickness put on youtube and listen to some great Aussie 80s music, transports me from Wales back to Sydney and i'm in the Horden Pavillion rocking away to those great 80s bands.Would someone please invent a time machine Please
Guy didn't join till 80-81 somwthing like that. He wasn't a founding member but he was a big part for a couple of years. Its a real shame, he was very talented.
fucking brilliant song, fucking brilliant band
James reyne Aussie crawl another true Aussie rock band. Just wish I could understand all his lyrics in this great track. The 80s rock music just classic tunes
One of my all-time fav Aus Crawl songs :)
The true Aussie crawl into a band of all potential in the future history of Australia's leading band of the way of all potential in music
This is the kind of drummer that you look at him and he seems to be doing really basic simple drumming. But it feels so good and makes the song pulse and groove and rock. Absolutely brilliant!
he wrote the song
Lived in Aussie in the 80's, Aussie Crawl were the best!! Brings back a lot of memories to see them again. Did'nt get to see James Reyne sing live till 2003 when i revisted,Great video.
Pulls on the memory heart strings 🙂
Australian rock`n roll is one of the best! Australian Crawl is fantastic
My favourtie Aussie Crawl song of all time!!!
Worked in a wanky cocktail bar in Balmain in the 90s and was thrilled when James came up to the bar for a drink. The young barmaid said, "You`re famous, aren`t you??" to which he smiled graciously. She went on, "Yeah, you host that Getaway show, I love it." I shouted something like "That`s his fucking brother!" but James just chuckled and walked back to his mates with his drinks. Absolutely no ego problems there, very amusing.
Love this song still. Been stuck in head since it came out. Hey James, you don't wanna burn up too much energy in this clip ;)
I Discovery this song after 40 year and it sounds more power than the songs of today.aussie rock rules!
That girl gets slow but she'll up the pace.!!!
Born in 81, this music is my life in a nutshell, the ups, the downs, the money and everything that comes with it,
I love this old stuff 👍🏻
Australian Crawl were/are awesome. James Reyne has one of those sexy voices and they were and still are the best we ever produced..I remember when they were on Countdown the first time and James had his 2 broken arms, I thought he was sexy then..We rock us Aussies.. :)
Best we ever produced????
I think INXS and Acca would like a word with you.
Who knew that derelict warehouse would one day become luxury units in Port Melbourne.
Thanks mate,I was just wandering where the f@#k the filmclip was shot.Cheers✌
seen this band a few times great stuff legends..
This one is a great song ❤❤❤❤
As an American Zoomer, this got me through some of the worst years of COVID.
Beautiful, beautiful man!
Classic reyne this was a beauty
@retrogirl6661 very true... RIP Brad and Guy.
Sou fa do Australian desde a adolescencia da epoca que se usava cabelo comprido muito bom.
Absolutely love this song!
MARAVILHOSA BANDA. MÚSICAS ETERNAS.
Beautifull
Love the way James Reyne is so arrogant in this video, and how he pushes the guitar aside to "shut down".
Classic
Aussie Crawl quintessential Aussie bank...
These guys were all time 81-83
OMG I LOVE THIS SONG
In the 80's and before that, songs were told like a story, the artist emotions were fed to your soul, raw and oraganic. Now days it's all fast food music, unhealthy in, almost every way. :) Peace :)
@DixieFlatline78 I also enjoy watching the video... infact, I think band performance videos are quite often the best. Who needs models, scripts, famous actors, special effects, etc? I think this clip pretty much captures a moment that will no longer be...
Chris Lofven made this clip.
He could have sung the telephone book.... so long as \I could look at him doing it Gorgeous.
ALIMONY! ALIMONY! ALIMONY!
I know, it's amazing what he finds. Luckily people have hung onto footage like that instead of just dumping it.
Ouvindo agora,BRASIL
go Aussie Crawl
listening to this in manchester, thinking of home where I hear it's 44 degrees. i could do with being down on the penisula right now. did i mention it's snowing...
Think you'll ever come back home ? .
This sums up the last two years shut down
Perfect 1st for Australia Day
🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Crack a beer
Burn some bangas and turn it up
Slowly but surely reynes deteriorating and on the decline, it's sad but almost time to hand the torch and see how these youngsters will rock and roll, it'll still be punk!!!!!!
Brilliant, underrated Aus music.I hope they got this song over to the UK in '82,at least.Thanks.
Same factory that Paul Kelly filmed the video clip for Alive and Well in..!
I have to say - I was surprised to learn that Bill wrote this one. Out of all the guys in the band, he always struck me as the most chivalrous.
OK, maybe that wasn't quite the word I was reaching for, but you know what I'm saying?
yeah man.... brissy guy ..now in uk... go the countdown!
fucking briliant
Think with your mind and not your heart...
@5150VanAlien HEY!! Agree totally! I was 13 when this came out - I LOVED this band - I wish this music was appreciated more but alas.... btw, i'm a Maroubra bloke living in Athens ;-)
i think i briefly recall that video... very mildly.
❤️
Onya James - Wot a top song!@
the only places that dump footage are TV stations. It'll make you cringe what had been trashed.
Aussie Crawl marcou epoca no Brasil, junto com Hoodoo Gurus, The Church, entre outras bandas australianas.. tem muito gringo que nunca ouviu falar
Bandaza!!
Somebody listen this song in September 2021 ?
@rupertthebrave
That's an interesting observation... I just saw it was a group of guys playing in a warehouse back in 1982. You are right - it does need a little more boost and intensity. I also don't get why Guy didn't sing on more tracks, seeing as he did so well with 'Oh No Not You Again' and 'Errol'... I wish they made it worldwide... perhaps your comment reveals a little as to why it wasn't the case.
A TIME WHEN MUSIC SEEMED TO LISTENING TO HOW YOUR FEEL. THATS ALL.
Rio de janeiro, 1985, wonder city, but no more before Lula.
@TheNatasha66 Thanx!
James Reyne Australian royalty
Alimony :)
Had a mate hit JAMES REYNE in the head with a beer can in the 80's at a concert in BRISSY JAMES was not happy!!!!!!!!!!!
I was 15
Another one for the file... Crawl File that is :-)
Yup - sometimes record labels throw stuff out after a certain timeframe to "make space". Certain US ones in the 70s were notorious for that.
Australian Surf Music :)
Glad I never got married, that word , Alimony scares me.
Clint Eastwood double!!
Simon Hussey = Genius
@laiosto He's Simon Binks, and you're right. :)
Victorian theme song "Lockdown" errr..I mean shut down
It just seems as if every thing from the 80s was recorded in a tin room with all that reverberation. I realize recording technologies have significantly improved with digital media, but a remake might be nice to hear.
@lovezmuzic2 A lot of Aussie music was played on early US music-video shows and MTV, during its early days...
I don't know why Aussie Crawl failed everywhere else. They wrote great songs, a good-looking lead singer and the tragic-tortured artist Guy McDonough. I guess you're proof that it couldn't have worked.
Jan. 2018?
Alright we have "Shut Down", now is missing "HIbernate", "Restart" and "Stand By". I think Australlian Crawl should complete the series. ;-)
If you're still maintaining these, you should know that the link at the beginning isn't available anymore...
hey James say hello to Simon for me.do you remember him???
@rupertthebrave
hey the music and lyrics were agreed to be good. but mike chapman warned them that unless their lyrics could be interpreted by the yanks they wouldn't make it into the U.S music scene. this thesis proved right. i'm flat out personally making out the lyrics in most of their songs. luckily for me i know them, and they're great lyrics. just sux that the rest of the world didn't gain exposure to their music.
No, not at all. But he is passing on his video collection on to me and I am currently uploading his stuff.... sadly, youtube disabled his channel. Shame.
why can't you buy sons of beaches in google play???????
simbiotic... you are a funny fucker.
legendry song
Where was this filmed?
NewWaver80014 a complete aside; your current avatar looks like the 'Rubbery Figures' version of John Elliot. A very large honker and slits for eyes.
