About Spider-Man Movie:
After incorporating elements of comic book style and design into many of his films, director Sam Raimi helms this straight-ahead, big-budget comic book adaptation, which also marks acclaimed young actor Tobey Maguire's first dip into live-action blockbuster filmmaking. Spider-Man follows the template of the original Stan Lee/Steve Ditko source material, with hero Peter Parker an orphaned, intellectual teen loner living in Queens with his aunt (Rosemary Harris) and uncle (Cliff Robertson), and dreaming of the girl next door, Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst). On a field trip to a Columbia University lab, Peter is bitten by a genetically altered spider and overnight he gains superhuman strength, agility, and perception. I like the way Uncle Ben smiles a little bit when he sees Peter, like he's so terrified to die on that street corner surrounded by strangers, but then his beloved nephew shows up, so at least he can be with him one more time before he dies.

Raimi absolutely nailed Uncle Ben's death. The way we get to see his relationship with Peter, his talk with him about responsibility, and the way he looks genuinely scared about dying is beyond pitch perfect. No film could've captured this scene more beautifully.
2:50 The moment he stops crying... absolutely terrifying. I've been rewatching the Spidermen movies a lot recently, and the fact this is when he is about to web swing efficiency for the first time, the end of sadness to focused rage, the steely determination... it blows my mind that people think Andrew is the "darker" spiderman, when Tobey sheds his sorrow and is enveloped in rage in but a few seconds and just starts hunting the other down.

@Bad Boys Boogie he was teaching him responsibility and not to shirk it, at least we get more time and reason for Ben to scold Peter in ASM 1, here it’s more dramatic cuz it’s a scene with people standing around and music swelling
I still and forever will say May has more impact on his life and the audience cuz she’s his rock no matter what, plus we spent more time with her in both franchises to care more, she’s Peter’s reminder to stay grounded
@Bad Boys Boogie you’d be wrong about no scenes of them bonding, they did it twice in the beginning before Peter found the suitcase, and they weren’t fighting all the time, I’m pretty sure you’d be upset if your nephew broke a basketball hoop to show off, no different than the fight with Flash in 2002 one, at least it’s addressed in ASM immediately,
and the skater boi thing I’ll give you that, but he never came off as cool, I think the creators tried to hard to make him seem “gothic but relatable”, the second half deals his personality better, but Bens death is emotional but not as much cuz even tho it was built up longer, the scene was rushed in ASM for some reason, but the loss was felt, after that talk with May in 2002, can you really say the loss was felt? They both have stuff with Ben being impactful in different ways but ASM delivers on the loss better cuz it’s a constant reminder throughout the movie and Peter faces consequences cuz of that reminder, Peter and Ben may have not ended on good terms but that’s the point,ASM hones in on that

As a longtime Spidey fan, I hated that scene in Across the Spider-Verse. It shows that Uncle Ben's death was a necessity. That other Spider-mens would purposely ALLOW his death for the "Greater Good". That's the Complete Opposite of what Spiderman stands for. Spiderman would NEVER allow an innocent person to die regardless of how much good would come out of it. All the Spider-people hating on Miles for saving that innocent man's life on the bridge was ridiculous. That movie completely missed the point of what it means to be Spiderman.

This hits a whole lot different after seeing Across the Spider-Verse..
I thought it was really cool how Across the Spiderverse showed that a canon event is not just when a Spider-Man's uncle dies, but when a Spider-Man experiences the death of somebody close to them that proves to them that with great power comes great responsibility, thus making them a true superhero.
But it also says that it’s a necessity for spider man and Miguel holds Miles captive so his dad dies but it basically is meaningless since he can’t save any lives as another choice
Okay I think that rule is kind of trash for Miles because he saw the Spider-Man from his dimension get brutally murdered and he saw his uncle die in front of his face

Pro wrestling is planned in advance; the ad specified three minutes because they wanted a match that lasted three minutes EXACTLY. Peter undercut the time, essentially throwing the pacing out of whack and potentially bombing the show's ratings. Not that knowing that makes the event organizer much more of a sympathetic figure!

This scene is a lot more scarring to me now that I'm older due to the realistic details they added to this murder scene. The panicked people, morbidly curious and crowding around with no one able to do anything while the police try to keep them back. Much like real life murders on the street. Someone dying in the middle of the sidewalk while some look on out of curiosity, some keep driving by and some just going about their day, and the world just generally being peaceful, meanwhile someone else's world is dying right there on the ground.

Bobo Boy actually an analysis on this you’d find it’s the exact same thing Uncle Ben was telling Peter and what rippled throughout the trilogy meaning it’s doesn’t necessarily mean even if someone did something bad to you you’ll stop trying to help them, but if you have the power and the responsibility to do what’s right then do it cause you may never know what might actually change if you do.

I won’t lie, I tear up when watching this scene. Everything about it is so sad. The instant regret of Peter’s decision, Uncle Ben looking at his nephew for the last time, and Peter who is filled with so much emotion that he starts to cry. It’s so sad. I mean look at the acting, I feel genuine pain for both Peter and Ben in this scene. It’s extremely well made and the music just saddens the scene more, and slowly transitions the scene to Peter’s feeling of Revenge. Bravo.
When Uncle Ben says "Peter" one last time it tears me up because when he says it you can hear in his voice how crushed he feels in his last moments.😞
It was the regret of what his last words to him had been he didn't know it was the guy he let go until he chased him down.
When you say the instant regret of Peter's decision. He didn't know at that point that the robber who shot his uncle was the same person who robbed the wrestling venue.

To each their own, but this was actually a fantastic scene. It’s very simple, not over dramatic or unrealistic, just very raw. and accurately depicts what it is like to lose someone close to you on the street. I thought it was well done
It is. Gen Z just makes fun of it because they can't bear to feel actual emotions. Which is ironic because being depressed is very hip and fashionable to talk about. But no one wants to actually cry or see the ugliness of real sadness.

I wouldn't say Tobey was the best Spider-man but he did have the best costume and I agree with everything else you said.
Blair Bart: But what qualities made Mary Jane better then Gwen? Mary Jane in the Raimi films was a constant drama queen and jerk when came to love relationships while screaming obnoxiously every two seconds during drastic situations. Gwen in the Webb films was less obnoxious during those situations, had a better personality, and even saved Spider-man from Electro in the second Amazing film thanks to her scientific wits, which made her ultimate death in the end mean something at least. Gwen in the Webb Films had emotional control in the face of fear and made herself a hero in the end while Mary Jane was just the stereotypical damsel in distress.
Blair Bart If he was the best Spider-Man, then why didn't Tobey do enough wisecracking humor that's iconic to the role of Spider-man while Andrew and Tom pulled off those humorous qualities better? I still enjoy Tobey but he's definitely overrated as Spider-man and made a better Peter Parker. Tobey was a little too serious and uptight during the role of Spider-man.

That line, “I missed the part where that’s my problem.” I feel like us humans are inherently selfish, we think that somebody else’s problem isn’t ours. But at the end of the day it is. We’re all in this together. And if we have power to influence the outcome of people’s lives, we should use it responsibly or for good. Every store manager, politician, athlete coach, boss, business owner, king, ruler, religious leader needs to get that message - With great power comes great responsibility.
