CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When Gwen (Emma Stone) falls during a battle at the clock tower, Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) is unable to save her.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The web-slingin' wall-crawler hits the screens once again in this follow-up to Marc Webb's 2012 reboot of the series. Andrew Garfield returns as Peter Parker, who squares off against the villainous Electro, played by Jamie Foxx. As the film opens, we find Richard (Campbell Scott) and Mary Parker (Embeth Davitz) stealing away with some crucial Oscorp files while leaving young Peter in the care of Aunt May (Sally Field) and Uncle Ben. Flash forward about a decade, and Peter (Garfield) is swinging into action as Spider-Man; having successfully thwarted the hijacking of an Oscorp truck by notorious Russian criminal Aleksei Sytsevich (Paul Giamatti), Peter ditches the costume just in time to meet up with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) at their high school graduation. Despite his deep love for Emma, however, Peter remains haunted by his promise to her late father not to get emotionally involved with her for fear that she could be targeted by Spider-Man's enemies. Meanwhile, young Harry Osborne (Dane DeHaan) inherits OsCorp and a deadly retrovirus from his father Norman (Chris Cooper), and brilliant but timid OsCorp scientist Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) gets infused with a powerful dose of electricity while attempting to fix a faulty power circuit in the lab. Upon regaining consciousness, Max discovers that he has the power to harness electrical currents - the higher the voltage the more powerful he becomes. When a battle with Max in Times Square shorts out Spidey's web-shooters, Peter goes to work on developing a more reliable model of his signature weapon while Harry grows convinced that Spider-Man's blood is the key to his survival. Later, villainous OsCorp chairman Donald Menken (Colm Feore) steals the company out right out from under Harry, driving the vengeful youth to break Max -- now Electro -- out of the heavily-guarded Ravencroft Institute for a two-pronged attack on Menken and Spider-Man. The stage for that battle is set when New York City goes dark just as Peter declares his love to Gwen, plunging the wise-cracking web-slinger into a fight that could forever alter the course of his life.

The fact that Gwen's father didn't want her to be involved with Peter for this exact reason makes this scene even sadder.
Agreed
Indeed... That adds to Peter's guilt for not keeping his promise
Gwen should do skydiving move to slow her down
Yea I would of been dead too
A Perm yea you're right. when the web ripped, she was still in the move and then suddenly when peter was going to catch her she made a different move hahaha
the worst part is that she didnt scream on her way down, she just accepted her death
this scene was so brutal omg
She accepted death that’s what makes it peaceful
Said exactly right sir...
@@j0an-07-arc6 I'm not sure about peace in this scene. I do not agree with this end and her death.
IBLCI GriGa when you don’t understand death
@@j0an-07-arc6 Spider-Man is not a movie where the heroines must die. Gwen had to survive. They could use the same antidote as Gary. Scriptwriters could do this. We do not need this kind of drama.
The way she died instantly without saying a word is so realistic. Very rare for big blockbuster movies to accurately portray death
Yeah you can tell this is the same universe where If superman catches someone falling at terminal velocity they’d die
@@hayderali1177 lmao. but you get what I mean yknow superhero films generally give characters a moment to talk before they die

Deaths in Hollywood:
"Saying... last... words..." and dies
Because her way of death is like that . The way she fell from the top made her to hit her head badly and her spinal disfigured by that sudden stop from peter's web ahead of her falling velocity and force these are the things which lead her to die at an Instant

Fun fact: Before they film this devastating emotional scene, Andrew and Emma agree to not seen each other in 1 week due to his advice said: "'I don’t want to see you! When you come into that scene, you have to pretend like you are dead to me." This scene never fails to make me cry like a baby. Gwen didn't scream at all, and you can see how she just closed her eyes when Peter shot the web to catch her. She knew it was futile and she knew this was part of being in love with a hero, you become his ultimate weakness. I'm not sure if it was her head hitting the concrete or her spine snapping. She had to be falling a good couple miles per hour downward, then the web is like a thin string that ties around you. You come to a sudden stop, you're gonna end up breaking something. I wish he could've opened up to the other Peters. I'm so, so happy he essentially got to have a second chance. He saved MJ, the Gwen Stacy of... Well, himself from another timeline. They are all spiderman, but different timelines. Same guy with relatively same story. He was able to save this version of Gwen (MJ) for another version of himself (Tom Holland's Peter). You could see the pain yet relief in his eyes when he caught her, since he knew he was able to stop something like that from happening again. It's horrible he had to learn such a lesson in this way, to catch with his body and then use webbing to suspend yourself. :(
she broke her neck
@maxbutler1958
In the comic she snapped her neck. But in the movie her head hits the ground
In this case, it's the two opcions: she hit her head with concrete and broke his spine, partially. This happens cause her head doesn't fully absorb her cinetic force, which is also distributed between the string and her spine (and with the entire body, in less quantity), so it would be surprising if she at least had some some broken vertebrae. What kills her it's the hit in the head, but the broken spine still being an important injury.
I think her back snapped, and her head was also crushed from the fall. The back of her head definitely hit the ground too hard, and her back bended entirely unatturally. Even if she survived, she would be brain dead, and paralyzed. Poor girl.
"with a hero" why wouldn't she be seen as a hero as well here? Only cuz she's not primarily about action in beating up bad guys?
Gwen’s death in this movie is a piece of art. The webbing symbolizes Peter reaching out to her. The slow motion represents how they feel time slowing down when they look at each other. Like how you feel when you look at the one you love and feels like time stops. The way it shows the clock represents their time running out together and her life flashing before her eyes. The way it shows her falling in the Lenses of spidey’s mask symbolizes how he is focused on saving her and that they glaze into each others eyes before the final fate. The way Gwen also shows fear in her eyes and the final breath of acceptance. This scene is so poetic.
Well written
glaze into each others eyes 🥺🥺
@mariorooks12345 People scream when they fall... This is artistic, but unrealistic.

Tobey spider-man struggled his life
Andrew spider man stressed his life
Tom spider-man had fun of his life
The most painful part of this isn't that she dies. It's that she does so instantly. In a lot of movies, they get their final words in before they die, which has its own emotional weight, but the cruelty of absolute silence is so much worse. You don't get to pretend it'll be okay. It's just over
It's just like it happens in real life: people rarely have chance to say their last goodbye😢
Idk I think the most painful part is hearing either her spine snap or her head bouncing off the concrete
what makes me cry about this scene is the clock's visual metaphor, about time, it matches with Gwen's graduation speech, it's how the film starts and how it ends, with that same speech, and the web takes the shape of a hand, it represents Peter trying to stop time, the clock's parts are scattered everywhere, neither of them knew that their time was limited, we all need to cherish every moment we have with the ones we love, because we never really know when it's going to end
Why you making it worse 😭

Regardless of the rest of the ASM duology, I really appreciated that they stayed true to the comics on this one. Gwen is supposed to die and it’s supposed to be awful and a major downer, and Sony had the balls to do it even though they knew the audience wouldn’t like it. I was the only one that walked out of that theater back in 2014 feeling satisfied
they don't stay true to the comics tho. she hits her head in the movie
As much as the comics are good. I still wish they would of let him save her. Re watching this after 2014 still makes me upset lol
You are cruel . Gwen's comic accurate death was the main reason movie got alot of hate . I could have stand the crappy story but her death made the movie horrible for everyone . So stupid . Comics and movies are different.
*In every other universe Qwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man*
And it doesn't end well 💀

Andrew's spidey is literally the saddest out of Toby and Tom. Everyone dies
Yeah his parents, uncle and now gwen
Andrew rocks
Hey don’t forget that tobey also lost his parents
Sony planned Aunt May to kill in tasm3, which we saw in spider man ps4.
Toms Spider-Man is garbage and still not his own character
the moment he got to redeem himself in Tom Hollands Spiderman was satisfying
I always obviously understood she died but I never really comprehended that fact he was literally half a second away from saving her. That’s another thing he has to live with on top of the fact she’s gone.
I gotta admit, for all the flaws and mistakes this movie had, this scene was perfect.
aran badecao Indeed.
ʏᴇʟʟᴏᴡ ғʟᴀsʜ oh yea yea
Hmm what flaws r u talking about u think u could have done any better?
@@axelblaze2966 agree
All the flaws, and still a lot better than homecoming..
the ways gwen could of died in this scene
-head trauma
-neck getting snapped
-broken spine
-whiplash
either way she died :/
I think she got all of that
this doesn't make me feel better 😭
ari xoxo so even if he did catch before she hit the ground, she would of died anyway 😓
Vanessa Mae Carpio yeah, im sorry :(
matteoren that only made my heart break more , come fuckin on
I think the saddest part is that his spidey sense would have told him it was too late 😢
can't believe this scene was referenced twice now in the two spiderman movie, making it even more emotional than ever
Nah same level of motions upon first viewing
"The hardest part of this job is... You can't always save everybody."
-Spider-Ham/Peter Porker
Wise words from a pig
DAMN BRO I-😭😭
Damn. I need a bacon right now.
I can't believe one of the most impactful lines ever said in cinematic Spider-Man history was from a spider that was bitten by a radioactive pig.
“PORKER” LMFAOAOO
Andrew couldn't save his girlfriend, and Tobey couldn't save his best friend.
If Andrew saves MJ from falling and Tobey saves Ned from falling, that would be epic.
Yo that could happen good observation
how is andrew gonna save mj??? that was tom in that one scene so ur point makes no sense
@@faded.177 Misdirection in trailers is a common thing for MCU
@@faded.177 tom can fail too the same way Andrew
HONEST TO GOD YESSS!!!
When physics work in super hero movies💀
In every universe, Gwen Stacy FALLS for Spider-Man.
For me, this was more emotional than Tony Stark’s death. Tony lived a good life and we saw his character coming to a close. But Gwen was just getting her life started and all of a sudden it comes to a horrific close...
Ya absolutely I hope they will make amazing Spiderman 3 in the future
@@VinayKumar-wv1kb me too but ik it won't happen 😔
Kinda like Gigi Bryant
So you didnt understand the meaning behind Tonys sacrifice.
@@itsgonnabeokay9341
Tony's death was a heroic sacrifice that only superheroes and ultra gods could do.
Gwen's death was literally a death that devastates thousands of lives and happens every single day in the real world.
One is comicy, the other is real. Too real. To the point that it's actually heartbreaking.
What people don't realise is that what made this movie bad were the villains. Not Andrew or Emma. They both did their jobs properly
Nickster165 Not everyone thinks that. They constantly say Andrew’s a bad Spider-Man, but this scene proves otherwise. It’s just a “I hate Andrew” bandwagon.
Wrong, this movie has one problem and one problem only, The writing, god awful, made this movie a mess, if it had better writers this could've been the best Spider-Man movie ever even with the predictable death of Gwen Stacy
David Cubillos the death wasn’t that predictable imo. Most people who watch don’t read the comics and most movies wouldn’t kill the main love interest, especially considering she was only a teenager
@@mr.rufasi2729 Facts, I never predicted it. This scene made me feel for Spider-Man in a way I never had for any other version of Spider-Man. Then I went on to learn about the death of Gwen in the comics. I like Tom Holland and all as Spiderman but the MCU is just too kid friendly. Spidey is a comedic guy but we also need more scenes like this for the current Spidey.
What was wrong with the villains?
andrews spiderman had one too many canon events
He tried to stop the canon event
