  • Myself and Craig have podcasting royalty with us on this one. Sam from the ‪@ELECTRICIANSPODCAST‬ comes in to give his views alongside us.
I have to give a massive thanks to Sam, Craig, Ricky, Neil, Jamie, Richard, David and the entire Apprentice 121 family for the awesome ECN finalist nomination. Its unlikely we will win with JTL and others in the same award, however just getting to that stage is INCREDIBLE.
Not to forget all the trainees, trainers and employers! LEGENDS.
In this one we delve into things training providers can consider to improve training that is delivered. Some of the horrific practices going on out in the training spaces. Most importantly how you can best navigate through that in the here and now.
We hope it helps and please get involved in the comments!

Great podcast. It’s hard to find out which training providers are any good. Ofsted reports don’t show what it’s like at the ‘coal face’. As Craig said ofsted looks at British values, functional skills, prevent etc well before technical knowledge.
I know of a local college who flaunt their ofsted ‘outstanding’ but they’ve barely got anything setup to deliver in a £30million new centre. Can’t do live testing as it trips whole electrical department and the audit learners sit around all evening while two people get assessed on the only available test boards.
That bloke who got a job sounds like a lucky chap. Adam must be a great boss. 😉

I am wanting to get Into the industry. I am doing all I can to get someone to give me a chance. I'm not a kid, I can't afford a £5 hour apprenticeship. I am doing level 2 now and consuming as much extra content as I can. Working through the CPD module on the Efixx site.
I want to be the best I can be, I want that Gold Card. I am doing all this self funded and determined to take my place and show my worth. I know I need to work at it and not expect it to be handed to me.

Please don’t think all apprentices are £5 an hour. Some of the bugger companies do pay more. If you have your level 2 you can apply for an ECS labourer card and look for work experience as a labourer or improver.

@Sparkybyfifty thanks, yes that's my plan as soon as I have the level 2.
