Dreamworks should make more christian based movies

    • @ScotsThinker

Maybe there won't be another Animation Masterpiece film like 'The Prince of Egypt' yet by Acts 17 logic, we can find Christian themes in Dreamworks' movies.
Especially, their recent success, 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish'.
A film all about Counting your Blessings, Being grateful for your Life, rejecting the easy path of getting what you want and instead gaining what you need, and especially conquering your fear of Death.

DreamWorks was founded by 3 Jewish guys: Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. It's not "Dreamworks should make more Christian movies", they never made Christian movies in the first place. Prince of Egypt adapts the story of Moses from the Old Testament, nothing from the New Testament. DreamWorks will never make a movie adaptating the New Testament/life of Jesus.

The Passion of a Christ is truly incredible. I teared up multiple times watching, and when Christ says to His Holy Mother "Behold mother, I make all things new", I burst into tears and started saying to myself 'WHAT DID HE SAY! WHAT DID HE SAY". In Greek its something you say when you are impressed by someone's sayings. I could not contain myself from praising His words.

FYI: No big Hollywood movie studio made any Jesus movie. The biggest one: The Passion of the Christ (2004) was made by Mel Gibson's independent production company and the biggest Jesus TV series: Jesus of Nazareth (1977) was made by a non Hollywood, Italian company. Also, the biggest Jesus internet/streaming series The Chosen was made by an independent non Hollywood production company. So for adapting The New Testament to film/TV, it was never because of Hollywood but despite Hollywood.

Big up Ben-Hur!!! Other classics I'd recommend are The Robe (about a Roman Tribune and his slave who come in contact with Christ's robe at the crucifixion - fun fact: first widescreen movie), Quo Vadis (about Nero's persecution of Christians, Peter's final ministry and the burning of Rome) and The Greatest Story Ever Told (it's an almost 4 hour hour epic, made up of gospel tableaus - every shot is beautifully composed like a fresco, and it's very theatrical. It's rather long and slow, basically the film equivalent of walking around a basilica. One of the greatest scenes in all of cinema history is the resurrection of Lazarus, the midpoint climax).

Its subtle themes towards Christianity, Thorfinns hope and adventure towards redemption and repentance, quotes on Scripture both in the show and manga. I recently came across a russian animated movie, about St.s Peter and Fevronia. It may not be good enough for the list, but I liked it.
Have to be able to read subtitles though.

*you forgot about Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame!*
    *It's a ggreat masterpiece*
    Edit:
*you also forgot about Smal One, a short film directed by Don Bluth!*
quite frankly! How do you make a list of Christian films and forget so many masterpieces?

Where is Jesus of Nazareth directed by Franco Zeffirelli?
Also i saw the Where are you, Adam? film WITH the priest that directed it, he was awesome and gave us more interesting insight.

      That series is amazing.
The Main Actor even made a documentary about the Historicity of Jesus.
Even Academic people like Helen K. Bond and Bart Erhman got involved.

Gospel Road is honestly another good movie, ‘starring’ Johnny Cash as the music man and narrator, and was a big event in his Christian life. Made in 1973 (I believe) it is dated but still holds up really well. The musical score is amazing as well.
