    I think some of the lack of movement today was due to the midfield. When Musah came in for Aldi Milan had a midfielder who took players on and opened up passing angles. I agree about RLC being too far forward. He can use his power to drive the ball forward and have an attack from the middle of the field if he picks the ball up deeper and between the lines.

    Also Kjear is also a reason that CP can't always commit to full attack positioning. I've watched every game and come to notice that Pioli is giving CP instructions to stay back and drop back to help defend and assist Kjaer and Calabria.

    Spot on when you say that the players are to static. I think that has been one of the biggest problems under Pioli. That is also why we often rely on individual performances from Theo or Leão, because otherwise they find it difficult to progress the ball

  • @hevanli13

    I think Pulisic let his angle close the chip became a necessity, overall we missed 2 pks it was heartbreaking there is just no consistency whatsoever, I saw a lot of people blaming Pioli for the subs or for picking the pk kick takers but come on they are pks we have to put them away, this was on the players the game should have been put away a lot sooner

    I think it's time to think about CP11 taking penalties. And just as much as I praised Pioli for his choices in the last match, I have to criticize him now.
    You're protecting a 1 goal lead. You're a team that has already blown 2 goal leads twice this season. You take off your 2 biggest goal threats... *and* you put on a totally green defender for his debut... you watch him be out of his depth from the *first second* and so predictable... the poor kid gives up the pen which loses us 2 extremely valuable points. 🤬
    A manager's most basic job is to put his players in a position to win. Pioli did not do that yesterday.

    WE NEED A TRUE DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS! Opinions??? We are missing a midfield true "stopper" or destroyer" that can breakup the rythym and progressive flow of the opposing team??!
    Our team appears to have alot of highly talented, but very similar midfield players. But not one of them who is genuinely focused on only defense and who is also VERY aggressive.
    Other teams appear to flow through our midfield unmolested EVERY DAMN MATCH!!

  • @yoddythegreat

    I agree on static off the ball positioning. In basketball, there are some 'patterns' that a team do practice during training.
    I think Pioli never had any of that 'patterns'.
    If we compare it to Inter, they have more clear 'patterns'. It seems like every players already know what to do next if the ball goes here or there.
    I mean it doesnt have to be as fluid as 2012 barcelona tiki taka, though.

    I don’t really criticize Piolo often but subbing pulisic and Leo was moronic. They are both guys who can hold the ball in possession and pulisic plays solid defense and would have marked the guy that scored. His replacement techno was horrible and this was not the game and especially not the moment to bring him in for his debut

  • @mattkelly7246
    @mattkelly7246 Před 3 měsíci

    Great video! Your comment about Ruben's positioning is spot on. Having him in such an advanced role doesn't take advantage of his strength. He's best when driving forward in transition, breaking the lines with vertical dribbling, and distributing to wingers that are cutting in behind. That pass to Pulisic was perfect. Too bad it didn't amount to a goal. Also, spot on with the comment about lack of speed and off-ball movement when in possession. It's painful to watch at times.

    My man is realizing how static we are in possession. I've been saying this for years: Pioli is clueless about attacking football. Yes, we are scoring quite a bit, but it's due to all the pure offensive talent we have now, not any great tactics from Pioli. When we come up against good defenses, we look lost. Then there are the moronic subs... Bringing in a defender at the end can make sense but not a teenager who'd already cost us points before and clearly not ready for the pressure of holding onto a one-goal lead.
    PS: Come on, bro, Leao was garbage AGAIN. As a (wannabe) superstar 1-2 decent runs per match is not nearly enough. He obviously has the skill but soooo lazy. We need to either sell this guy or bring a new coach who can actually get him to play football instead of dreaming about a rap career.

    This result is on the players Kush. The only players who can actually say that they had a great game in my opinion were Ruben and Gabbia, everyone else on the pitch deserves the criticism that they get because they let not only the fans down but they let Pioli down as well. I think Pioli managed the game well, it’s the players that let him down. Missing the chances and the penalty kicks along with our defensive errors costed us big time.

    Bologna’s defense was rock solid. I agree with your take on Rafa and CP. Milan was mostly very slow in attack, gifting the defense the time to get organized. I watch a lot of Brighton and Hove Albion in the Prem and on their worse days against a low block, its a carbon copy of what happened today. It only gets solved when players are confident and familiar enough with certain attacking patterns of play to break it down.

I have no idea how to fix this club, and thank god we are not in the banter era anymore, but we are far from the standard a 7 time champions league winner should have. We are gonna have to see inter win the second star sadly. When I was growing up, Milan felt like the biggest serie a club. Inter just felt like an Atletico Mardid, they were big, but they were just there, we never saw them as a threat. Sadly inter just feels like a bigger club than milan now. It's sad and frustrating, if this club is gonna get back to the standard, I am afraid we are gonna have to wait some more and still it is not a guarantee that we are gonna get back to the milan of old. And as far a Terraciano goes, it was a terrible mistake, but Kristiansen is going to bury that anyway. I'd put a fair amount of blame on Theo for being absolutely wrecked by Orsolini.

    Oddly enough, Milan is this season is the exact opposite of what it used to be the previous one, in the 2022/2023 Milan was a super defensive team with almost no attacking power and now, Milan is a team with alot of attacking power but poor defense, mainly due to the fact that nearly all the defenders are injured and we are relying on a 35 year old past prime Kjaer, plus Gabbia and Simic that are third option subs at best.
    In recent games, the lack of Thiaw and Tomori can be seen due to how poor the defense has been.

    We have a lot of needs to upgrade certain positions but I would like to see some more movement with the ball which comes down to the coach and gameplay otherwise it will be more of the same on the offensive side, I am so tired of watching most these guys stand around with lazy ground ball passing and then trying to dribble into the final 3rd/box, when we finally see a ball over the top and a chance created the decision making at times could be better but at least we are making the other team sweat. Giroud with his penalty shots are aggravating for me he rolls it like a pass halfway between the keeper and post which makes it an easy save for the opposition.... Remember at the beginning of the season those great lob passes we were seeing into the box, Giroud was scoring back then, now it seems we are content on blind crosses from the wings and hoping for the best. Sorry Ive been negative in the comments the past couple months, I just know these guys can do so much better by doing something different, we've all seen it at times.

    I agree. RLC is on a roll but as it goes "form is momentary but class lasts forever". The type of goals RLC has scored won't last and we still don't look good with RLC as CAM. it's not his position. He's not creative and doesn't link up mid and attack. It's not the Milan way. Basically playing with two strikers but no cam (carlo did do this with kaka but we had seedorf as the 2nd cam). RLC played pulisic through but the pass pushed pulisic out of scoring position (puli maybe could have done more) but that's a bad pass. Bc pioli has this center of the pitch concept it pushes leao and pulisic on islands at the edges and they aren't able to move inside. They do it once in a while and we look dangerous. Most of the time we're passing the ball around in an arc like basketball. That's bc the movement is restricted bc the mids r taking up space the wingers would run into. Next game watch how many times RLC gets in someone's way, especially pulisic and leao. RLC needs to play from deep mid that's where he's best. He can trade off with the other mids. We need to make room for Chuck and see what he can do(when he comes back) spent too much money on him to not really give him some time when he returns.

    • @murmor6890
      @murmor6890 Před 3 měsíci

      With both Adli and Reijnders I think a player like RLC actually makes perfect sense as CAM, he isn't there for creativity but as a runner. Bologna played a similar way with Ferguson. Imo it is also a left over from the balance player doctrine that was always present in Serie A 4-2-3-1 approaches, in that sense RLC also kinda replaces Saele.

    • @mattorlando415
      @mattorlando415 Před 3 měsíci

      @@murmor6890 oh for sure I agree, it's that role he developed for kessie but I'm saying it's not the Milan DNA. I'm down for innovation and I really like the 4231 in most aspects of piolis version, except that. When Brahim or bennacer play there it's much more unpredictable and creative. Rn were relying on a 37 giroud to do all the work RLC should be doing AND be there as a goal scorer. It's too much to keep up every game which is why we have such dramatic peaks and valleys. It'd be one thing if RLC tracked back as much as Kessie would but he really doesn't so we don't get the creativity up front AND we don't get the defensive help consistently. It's just not a good system for a team that's trying to win trophies. That's also piolis fault for loading this team with attack minded midfielders, I think he needs to play musah in the one of the pivot spots for balance. bennacer can play defensive mid as a deep lying playmaker, when he returns we'll have more balance.

      Terracciano is a RM/RWB/RB and can play on the left too. He got subbed into his normal position, he was simply shit.

    PIOLI IS guilty for playing Terraciano knowing he lookes nervous, San Siro is heavy on these youngsters. We should have won that game 5-1...the PK could have been saved by Mike...it is a badly taken shot by Orsolini and normally Mike would save these type of shots, (low and predictable)

    Defensively Theo is our weakest player by far. I couldn't believe there were some people calling for him to become a CB, are you completely insane. The guy has no defensive awareness, he doesn't even have self awareness. Giroud should be ashamed of himself too. Absolute disgrace, he pulled an Arsenal from the penalty spot

      @@footballkushI agree with you Kush. One thing I notice is that the midfielder should do better job in distributing the ball. I feel like Pulisic was asking for ball often and most of the time he didn’t get played. Perhaps better distribution could take some pressure off from Leao.

  • @starwarsbookclub8535
    @starwarsbookclub8535 Před 3 měsíci +1

    At this point, I'm with the #pioliout crowd. Pioli game plan. Go to pulisic or leao. If they are double teamed, slowly switch the ball to the other side and hope pulisic or leao do something. Absolute no movement up the middle to draw the defenders away from pulisic or leao. And RLC should not be in the attacking midfield. Dude should be deeper back as the 8.

    • @murmor6890
      @murmor6890 Před 3 měsíci

      Pioli set the team up for a 3-4:1 win, he cannot sub himself and take two f-ing penalties for them. Set up was easily good enough to win.
