Burgers Like My Late Grandfather Used To Make

  • It's getting warmer in my area, so it's time to fire up the grill! There are countless ways to prepare burgers, but today I am making my late grandfather's burger. I got to eat these burgers regularly, until 2011, when he, unfortunately, passed away. Come to think of it, I haven't made any since his death. Time to change that!
He had a burger press similar to jaykay18's, and would also make a nice, hearty burger patty.
That's something I would have like to have gotten, but at the time, folks were being weird about kitchen stuff, so I decided best to leave it alone.
Looks like 2024 is going to be an expensive one, so I will used frozen patties, already on hand, and made additional burgers for my lunch, the rest of the week.
Yes, I washed the plate, at the outdoor sink, before placing the cooked burgers back on.
For the cheeseburger taste test, I decided to add no additional condiments, so I could get the pure flavor. They were real close, I'm sure fresh pressed ground beef would've made them spot on.
Be sure to watch all the way to the end, because there is a special item from my childhood, still available. On this particular day, jaykay18 had emailed me about watery ketchup troubles, and I told him what I had found on the jungle website. Unfortunately, the shown ketchup is not the version from my childhood. Seems thicker in the glass bottle, though.
Thanks for stopping by to watch, please like, subscribe, and ring the bell!

Looks tasty. Tonight I'm cooking almost the same dinner. Hamburgers seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder and Worcestershire Sauce. Tater Tots and creamy Parmesan pasta salad.

Thanks! Your version sounds good, too. I used Worcestershire Sauce on my birthday burgers. Tots are good, and that Parmesan pasta salad sounds interesting!

Looks good. I bet the bbq sauce kept the burgers juicy and flavorful. Your dinning room table looks like a nice comfortable place to eat. I enjoyed that clock ticking too, what kind of clock is it have you ever made a video on it?

Thanks, sure did! That’s the 1972 Seth Thomas Sculpture clock. Yes, there is a video!

Well since Jay didn't make these, they won't suck

Can’t beat a good burger! My dad adds bbq too

Well you definitely messed up from the get-go, seasoning both sides of the burger, I mean *everyone* knows that the seasoning permeates through to the other side!
I had an insurance, no, sorry, an INFLATED insurance premium to pay this month too, man that one is starting to really hurt. Can blame electric cars for that. Not even talking about the house insurance, which also went up.
As for the recipe, oh yeah, that will do great, I can just tell. When I make steak I use copious amounts of garlic and onion powder.
When your bottle of BBQ sauce runs out, save the cap and make yourself a little hole in the center of it, either via drill bit or plastic melting soldering iron. Voila, instant squeezy bottle, no "on the brush" required! Less mess, less to clean (says the slime guy).
The ketchup conundrum, yes. That stuff definitely looked considerably thicker. Really dressed up the meal, dealing with the glass bottle. I will tell you, I think your 57 technique needs a little work. I usually use the side of my fist, bottle at easily a 45 to even 65 degree angle, and a few sharp hits should get it to go. New bottles are still sometimes hard to get started.
Another tip/trick I have learned with the squeezy bottles of stuff they sell now: If you keep them in the fridge, they will have a tendency to "explode" when you flip the cap open after them sitting out of the fridge for as little as 5 minutes. The tip is to simply pop open the cap as soon as it has been taken out of the fridge. The difference in air pressure won't be there since it will be open to the atmosphere, and no explosion.
There are no right nor wrong ways to make a burger. I'm certainly not going to say mine are better. This is a different entity entirely and not to be contested in any way. I do make other varieties of my burgers, but like most things, the original is the one that rings true as the clear winner every time. In fact I just made my first batch of Dirty Jay Burglers™ a week ago. We ate them all week and ended up with one left. Would you believe that neither the wif nor I wanted it? I certainly didn't want to waste it so I took a knife and made witten-sized pieces out of it. Feast of a cat lifetime! Not only did they have almost a half-pound of meat, they got their regular cans for dinner, and polished that off too. I guess they've been watching too much Garfield.

I figured that, can't do anything right. I will keep _trying_ to improve though.
Indeed, they did suck, to a degree, as well as the leftovers. I know where to go, about 1,000 miles away, where everything sucks.
Yeah, I bought this one special, just for these burgers. Will keep that in mind for later on.
Absolutely, I'm out of practice. However, didn't cheat, and jam a knife in there. This bottle had an odd air pocket this just didn't want to play nice.
Yes! I have noticed that as well. That certainly is a great life hack to remember. Ranch dressing is real bad about exploding.
Your Dirty Jay Burglers™ are in a class of their own. That's funny about the last burgler, no wonder you had to clean that bathroom! I bet they did enjoy that treat though. Might be time to worry, if the lasagna goes missing!

@@dynatrak Whoa, whoa, whoa, _trying to improve?_ I never heard of such a thing!
I've heard of some place like that!
That bottle may have had an odd air pocket for the same reason Whirlpool washers suck now. They had a great design that was serving them well for almost 25 years, and they gave the blueprints to Millennials and told them to redesign it. So when you give them blueprints for an archaic glass ketchup bottle filling machine, this is what you end up with.
Yes, it works with dressings as well! I just figured out the physics of why, and solved the problem.
Thanks. That wasn't actually the reason we needed to clean the bathroom. Now if xjoe81x had been over, there'd be a real good reason!
The wittens loved every bit of it. And you're right, they like that too. Fortunately they haven't figured out how to open the fridge yet.
