I moved to Ludhiana after living and working in Gurgaon for 15 years at age 35. Believe me.. this was worst decision of my life. Ludhiana is the filthiest city on this planet. Polluted air, extremely poor water quality. Corrupt to the core government officials and law enforcement. Gurgaon was much better. My take is either settle in a village where you can have some source of income and clean air and water or live in a city like Gurgaon or Bangalore. Avoid industrial towns like Ludhiana if you want clean surroundings and want a peaceful life.

Village me jaaoge to sexism casteism hai. Crab mentality wale log hai. Ameer banda waha pe celebrity jaisa hai. Sadak pe nikalna mushkil ho jayega tumhara. Plus jo log generations se udhar reh re hai, wo tumhe jaldi se accept nahi karenge. Tumhe unki language fluently seekhni padegi. Ek sheheri insaan gaao me nahi reh sakta kabhi bhi

As sir said, it is okay to stay in such places temporarily for 4-6 months. It isn't feasible for a succesful person to live in such places in the long term. As we progress in life, our mindset and choices change. It becomes difficult to adjust in the society in small towns as a result.

Argument is North vs South India. The problem of pollution is not going away anytime soon. It's rampant in complete North India, in all big or small places. People will move South especially to places with less water problems.
New York stinks but only in Chinatown or near metro chimneys. You get that whiff once a day.
You cannot escape pollution. The only good time to play outdoors in India is in winter and then it's harmful due to air pollution.
Argument is to move South (or outside country) but where that is the question !
