Reus 2018/19 also deserves a shout. 21 goals and 13 assists in only 36 games, won the german player of the year and bundesliga player of the season too. He was carrying dortmund that season. The issue with Muller is that he doesn’t have pace, he cant head the ball, he doesn’t have a powerful shot, he cant tackle, he runs like a clown and he just isn’t intimidating as a striker. Yet he has that ability to be at the right place at the right time and more importantly he knows exactly what to do with the ball when he gets it, hardly putting a pass wrong. He is the best asset to any team and is the very definition of an underrated player.
I was heart-broken by the end of that Leverkusen season, despite being Scottish, and watching all the CL games in a pub in the West End of Glasgow. That team was just a joy to watch.

For me it has to be Lionel Messi in 2018. That season Barcelona won La Liga losing only 1 game: a crazy 5-4 loss away to Levante after the league title had already been wrapped up, with Messi not included in the match day squad. So, Messi didn't lose a single league game all season. They also won the Copa del Rey, thrashing Sevilla in the final. Messi was phenomenal all season. Barcelona's top scorer and assister (La Liga top scorer and assister as well) and singlehandedly destroyed Antonio Conte's Chelsea in the Champion's League. He was also vital in Barcelona's 3-0 victory against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. The reason why this is one of the most underrated seasons of all times is what happened in the Ballon D'Or ceremony following this season: Messi finished 5th. This was absolutely disgusting. Messi had won a domestic league and cup double, going undefeated, had scored 45 goals and made 20 assists (the most goal contributions in Europe), had the most goals from outside the box, most goals from free-kicks, most touches in the opposition box, most chances created, most key passes, most dribbles completed, most passes in the final third in all of Europe... and he finished 5th. It was an absolute disgrace. The reason was simple: Barcelona were shocked in the Champion's League by Roma (nothing to do with Messi, the goals came from an Umtiti mistake, a penalty and a corner) and Argentina didn't perform great at the World Cup (personally I don't think Argentina were a good team and people only rated them because of Messi, so I wasn't surprised when France with a much more balanced team knocked them out). No other player in history could have a season where they finish top scorer, top assister, win the league, win the cup and not lose a single game whilst also having all the other stats I mentioned and finish only 5th in the Ballon D'Or, in one of the top 5 leagues in Europe. Most underrated season in football history.

Not in his prime doesn't matter it isn't an award about how good you have been but an award about how good you are at that moment. Messi was good that year but he was the center of a Barcelona team who failed completely in the CL knockout stages. And many of his goals were against small teams even back then he was already declining and not scoring much against big teams. He was good but most games he scored in barca would have won either way but he probably should have been a little higher but not winning

I know you have defended Ligue 1 in the past , but only 1 UCL for French clubs is really underwhelming for a country like France . Especially when you consider that Dutch clubs have won 6 UCL ' s and Portuguese clubs have won 4 UCLs
An underrated season in my opinion is David Gea’s 2017/18 season. He won the Golden Glove award that season and he made a record 14 saves against Arsenal. But he wasn’t given any recognition in FIFA’s the Best awards in 2018.
Still remember how great Petr Cech was VS Porto whilst he played for Sparta Prague. At the time Porto were in the 2nd phase of the group phase and basically dominated the game but were unable to scored against him. And in a counter-attack play, Sparta scored and Porto lost. After that game, I started to follow his career. Great player.
German players I think tend to be overlooked because they don't typically dazzle with parlour tricks. Neuer perhaps being the exception as his sweeper work adds so much more to his resume.
To make it even worse for Ballack this Season: He also missed the World Cup Final due to a Yellow Card suspension after he "had" to make a tactical foul in midfield in the Semifinal. Tragic season. And even more tragic when you think about this absolute worldie Zidane scored against them AND additionally Casillas getting subbed on in the CL Final and making (at least from my memory) one of his best games ever.

How is Roberto Firmino’s season not in here. His 17/18 season went under the eye only cos of the season Salah had. He had 28 goals and 17 assists while also getting 18 goal contributions in 13 UCL games
Day 1: 7 best teams using only players who left them in recent 5 years. Counting on their current ability.
I remember Cassano at Sampdoria. He was excellent. That’s why I always think of him as a big player
Love the videos
Day 5:
Request: What on earth is going on at FC Basel. From beating both Manchester clubs and Bayern in the Champions league in the last decade, as well as winning the swiss league 8 consecutive times to losing 6-2 at home to second tier Winterthur as well as being 16 points off top spot
Video Idea: 7 players who got their name from one game performance
Day 3: 7 best performances by a non league team (beating a higher league team in the cup).
Day 3: footballers with weird/rare hobbies and interests
Ozil assist records before moving to Madrid and Juan Mata goals and assist in the first two seasons in Chealse. Those Juan Mata numbers can rival Bruno Fernandez's current numbers with better passing accuracy.
Calls us intellectuals geniuses and yet doesn’t think we will catch on to the fact that the title is top 7 underrated seasons. When we all know there are only 4 season -.-
Luis Suarez 59 goal season... Finally broke the Messi, Ronaldo La Liga golden boot dominance, plus, that’s just a lot of goals period. And he had a bunch of assists as well and he’s always been a decent pressing striker. And he came in fifth in Ballon Dor. Because, you know, the biting... but still. Under rated season...
As in he only came in fifth...
Definitely missing Wesley Sneijder 2009-2010 season
"country of poets, thinkers and Bratwurst" :D nice description ;)
