It seems to me that Argentina, at that time, and Brazil too, didn’t focus much on defense. To me defense is the foundation of a team. You build from that. But it’s so hard to win without strong defending. Defending is more pragmatic. It’s not about flare, which the South Americans value.

Argentina's obsession with Football made him genuinely think he is a god,
and I absolutely enjoyed watching that get crushed by Germany, twice.
Germany Vs Argentina is an underrated rivalry. This match was more satisfying to watch than 2014 final.
Now the two are incomparable
Argentina now is much much bigger as a world champion than Germany that got out of the grp stage of two consecutive world cups
Germany has no team now
@@Northafrican2097 The current scenario is out of the question. This germany team of 2014 was a legendary team and were consistent in world tournaments. Also they beat argentina 3 consecutive times. This 2010 victory was more personal. They not only beat argentina but also Maradona's ego. Also Messi never beat germany in WC which will remain forever in his career.Next time let's see how argentina performs without messi.
@@Northafrican2097 you forgot pessi couldn’t do shit in 2018 Germany will recover in the meantime because they don’t need penalties to score 😂 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ when pessi scores against us then come back
@@Northafrican2097 The two greatest won't be here next WC : Di Maria and Messi.
Of course there could be the rising of over players (like Garnacho) but nothing is guaranteed.
The most likely scenario is Argentina going through difficult times like many other team have and still are (Spain, Germany, Brazil, Italy).
Müller is one of the best players we have seen so far and we don't even notice that
Muller truely took it like a gentleman I have to say, if it was me I might not have contained so well. Muller just gave an awkward smile and left. A great player with skill and humbleness, always been underrated in my opinion
well...maradona was a great player. we should keep him in mind like this. just forget what poor clown he was offside the pitch.
He was a cheating clown on the pitch as well.
@mojebi3804 Those hand ball goals are still being pushed under the rag, unsportmanship at its lowest but for some reason many of his fans don't really care, he was a great player but also a cheater and drug addict, his career was lasted far less then Messi's (you know being a junky does indeed have its drawbacks)

This was the defining match of the Jogi Löw era. The 4-1 against England might still have counted as a surprise by a young team against an broken English team that was outstanding only in its arrogance. But this one was a complete dismembering of a world class adversary packed with world class talent. The first fifteen minutes of that match were probably the best football ever played by a German team. That match showed the world that Löw's Germany, on a good day, could now not only beat but completely annihilate any opposition.
You can't mess with Muller.
2010 Mardonna paid for it
2014 Pepe paid for it
2020 Barcelona paid for it
2022 Barcelona paid for it again
At least Chelsea with Drogba managed to undo the great Thomas Müller in the 2012 CL Final.
@@markdonovan1540 what happened after that CL Final? Crushed Chelsea on different occasions.
@@thenotorious1512 Of course, but that CL final was at the Allianz Stadium, Bayern was expected to win comfortably, but the underdog triumphed.
Forgot 2013. Humiliated Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate
A lesson that pride can humble anyone, even if they are one of the greatest players the world has ever known
That was so Karma.
Well, one of the most interesting thing is that germans did not stop punishing argentina after this match but they waited for the next cup. 2014 last minutes and götze’s goal now has more meaning.
The great thing about Maradona's conduct for me as a Germany supporter is that I could just bask in the glory of this performance without an ounce of sympathy. Unlike four years later against Brazil, where I felt really awkward after the 4-0.
Now I know why Muller being a beast for a decade.
Maradona has a point in a way that he cannot have an interview with an opponent player before the game, but the way he handled it really poor. I feel bad for Muller that he had to go through this
It was after a friendly match earlier in 2010
No, anyone can have an interview with an opponent player before a game, accept that maradonas ego is too big
Bullshit
What he did is disgusting
Trying to defend his shtty behavior by pointing someone else mistake? I'm from SA and we all know that Maradona has always being like this. He was a great player but with shtty manners. He also said that he didn't know muller just because he was trying to despite him. I mean how could a coach doesn't know the rivals players, specially someone that used to be one of the biggest raising stars of Bayern Munich at that time.
@@phervil2774 That was Muller first year in the national team. Lot of people didn’t know Muller back then and that’s why every world cup, club send scouts to recommend new talents to their club. Also, I am not sure where I defended Maradona in my comment, I actually defended Muller.
What an ego, too much coca
Germany had Argetina number last 30 years. They beat them in WC Final 1990 then 2006 Qf in 2010 WC and 2014 WC Final.
Not in the last 30 years lol, unless you wanna count last 8 years where Germany can't even qualify to knock out stages twice in a row
@@richhornie7000 ye germany really fell off recently, but that 2014 squad was pure greatness
@@richhornie7000 Wont change the fact that Germany humbled Argentina at every opportunity.
I can explain you why:
1. We got a new Trainer who "redesigned" the whole team, because of to high age reasons.
2. The DFB (German Soccer Association) thinks, that almost only CL player are the right ones for the German national team.
3. Most important reason is, that our team should be a model against social problems (gendering, etc.). Playing soccer is now the second most important part. Because of that our players are not 100% on the field.
The team under the new coach ist awesome. Amazing players, who will win the next years a lot of cups, when the government let them do their job -> Playing soccer

No wonder Maradona didnt win anything as a coach without knowing the opposition players.

Being from Argentina, believe me when I say, I'm sure that here they give Diego the chance to be a technician because he was well, Maradona, besides that, you can notice that whe he dont even knows that Muller was a player from the other team, then you bet that your technical job is bad. Fortunately my country is not making that same mistake again (I hope), being humble is what made us become world champions, not trying to understimate your rival
It seems to me that Argentina, at that time, and Brazil too, didn’t focus much on defense.
To me defense is the foundation of a team. You build from that.
But it’s so hard to win without strong defending.
Defending is more pragmatic. It’s not about flare, which the South Americans value.

Muller is just an insane level player, and he is well adjusted to different playing systems. Maradona was a solo genius - and there's no place for such players in today's football (thankfully)

Maradona wasted young/fast Messi's only World Cup. It's crazy how Messi, as a starting XI player (06 was good but he was underused), had two decent WC teams and took both to the final (14 and 22). 10 was a terrible social experiment by AFA, and 2018 was so bad that Mascherano was the unofficial coach during the tournament.
