- Therapist analyzes Pain Killer by Judas Priest to discuss the value of reframing getting help as a cool thing to do. So many people think that asking for help is a weakness but this song points to the truth that asking for help is bad ass and so is supporting others who need help!

There is enough metal in this song to build two aircraft carriers.
And the planes to launch
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😄😄😄 !
Best comment I've ever read
@@chadfalardeau5396 .... And a 2 supply ships to support them
Gay, sober, and still nailing it at 73 years old! They don’t call him the metal god for nothing. Rob Halford is one of the greatest metal singers of all time.
Thankfully he didn't get Fauci'd in the 80-90s like Freddie and thousands of others.
This is one of Priest's top 400 best songs.
You bastard now i must think wich one is the second…… you ruined my week.
@@silentfog6924 I am definitely not saying this is their best song, not even in the top 50.
One of best drum intros of history
Respect to the drummer, he clearly sets the pace for an asskicking track, but I think Danny Carey beginning of Ticks & Leeches is much better. One man’s opinion it’s all great music.👊🤘🤘
@@-TRIAD- for sure Scott Travis sets the tone of pain killer. But there are so many great drum intros out there. Honor thy father from. Dream theater is crazy
Easily
Scott Travis from my home town Virginia Beach baby
This band is 55 years old!! And still touring
And Rob can still kill it with the high notes!
Am I’m gonna see them in October for the first time
@@ludwigtheholyblade777you'll love it seen live 3 times 1983, 1984, 1990
Her facial expressions are priceless.
The greatest metal song ever and forever. Killer drum intro, incomparable soaring vocals, greatest metal guitar solo, 2nd solo and as outro finishes one's not sure what just happened, flabbergasting.
You forgot the riff, this is real cyberpunk melodie from 90s, this song is ahead of its time
@@chezbe Indeed forgot THAT, one of the main ingredients.👍🏻
You should check out the cover of Painkiller by LOVEBITES.
@@1970Phoenix Wow. THAT solo was done perfect! The rest musically also. Must say vocalwise, my believe is it was made for Rob, a different rendition would be nice.
What will really blow your mind is that Rob Halford is one of the greatest singers of all time and also one of the nicest humans to ever walk this earth. Plus he loves kittens! ;)
does duets w/DOLLY PARTON
And Maria Brink
Bros the best person in the world
This is the most metal song ever made.
Judas Priest has been doing it for so long, they are metal personified.
Released in 1990.
Rob Halford sings it 2024 nearly as high as in the 90th.
He is 72 years old and still on worldtours. ❤
I missed Priest since 2015 in germany. 😭
This monday i watched them in Hamburg, Germany. Outstanding. Wonderful. And after the last song on the videowalls was written: "The Priest will be back".... 🤘
I saw them in Mobile Alabama back in May, and it was nothing short of awesome to see Rob Halford hitting the notes and riding that motorcycle out on stage at 72 years old!
Sept. 19th in Milwaukee!! I cant wait!!!
Pain Killer was one of those albums that defines my metal upbringing. Thanks for reviewing.
"Music to Improve your mindset" ...Amen Sister. This song does it for me Everytime.
This is not Trash Metal. This is the purest Heavy Metal, still one of the best.
It's speed metal more than thrash but definitely influenced a ton of thrash bands
Def gotta do Victim of Changes next. In particular, the live performance from the ‘83 US-Festival. Not only is it a great example of how wide of a range Rob has, but the song has a message I think you could really sink your teeth into from a therapy perspective.
I agree, and I was there in 83' at the US Festival, and Priest was phenomenal! 🤟
This was something of a comeback album for Priest, a full-throated demand that the thrash scene they had helped spawn give them their just due. Big part of that was new addition Scott Travis' fully modern metal drum attack. This album cannot exist without him.
JP gave every last drop of sweat blood and talent, making this album. It's a LOVE LETTER to metal! This whole album is an OP masterpiece
In 2016 Rob Halford performed this song on stage with BABYMETAL and they both killed it together. Her voice compliments his so well, it was a great performance.
In my opinion this song still is the very definition of metal. It is a perfect masterpiece of pure energy 🤘
"Stronger, free, and brave."
God, I love Judas Priest. 🤘
Rob Halford I believe has a four octive range going high and low, he’s one of the most versatile metal vocalists of his time, he’s insane and a super nice man too
This song is considered the paradigm of metal, how the "perfect" metal song sounds like, the epitome of a genre condensated in one song. Tempo changes, instrumental prowess, insane technical skills. As for the lyrics, I didn't pay attention really when I first heard the song: I was 14 and it just blew my mind. It was 1994: radios were all about Nirvana while I, instead, listened to this stuff (and other metal gods, like Iron Maiden) 😂
yes. This song is the dictionary sample under "Heavy Metal".
You should check out the cover of Painkiller by LOVEBITES. They definitely do it justice.
This song is, simply put, therapeutic.
I just saw them last saturday. He still has the high voice
I was lucky enough to see Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and judas priest in the same tour years ago and I consider Judas Priest to be up there with one of my favorite bands I’ve been able to see live.
Well, this was certrainly something else. Pain Killer is my all time JP fav song, but i NEVER imagined a therapist analyzing it before... fascinating 😁
Pain killer came out back when i was in high school back in 1990. Here i am now 50 now., Damn, i'm gettin' old! LOL!!! 😆😂
Same with me. Hail from Oz
I love watching reactions for this song, haha. Glad you enjoyed.
Love your analysis freakin so cool.
In the 90s, we watched Mtv, especially 1990. Yes, Mtv used to play music videos
Totally. I still just look back at Judas Priest and this song being so awesome, then the Liberace moment sets in. All that leather and studs, Rob comes out and hesher minds instantly blow up. Still didn't care, saw Rob's new band "Fight" open for Anthrax in Chicago somewhere around 1994 and loved them both the same. "Into the Pit" and "Caught in a mosh" in the same night? hell yes! That's the thing...music fans really don't care about all that other stuff and are a family having fun to the exact same passion.
"electric Eye" from Them is also a really nice song and slaps hard
What a great reaction. You should do more Priest. Or some IRON MAIDEN.
Remember getting the LP when it was released and I got it. This was the heaveies shit you could get! Painkiller.... drugs....but still an Iconic song!!! I would guess one of the top 10 ever....
Love to see you viving with it hahahaha, you are not used to it, but you get the idea.
Saw this concert at the Coliseum in Cleveland. Unleashed in the East in Erie
This is a masterpiece🤘🏻😎⚡️♠️
You befor this song 😊
After the song 😮
This is one of my favorite Judas Priest songs.
My favorite.
This was one of my favorite albums when it came out!
Rob haldord is are metal god , keep up the great work 🤘🤘
MY SONG!!!! This is the most metal song ever made. Period!
100% agree man! \m/
great job on this one you were feeling it
You should check out Fight. Rob Halford left Judas Priest for some years and recorded two albums with his band Fight. It also features Judas Priest drummer Scott Travis and Russ Parrish (Satchel from Steel Panther). I suggest Into The Pit or Nailed To The Gun. Both live from Sony Studios. Contortion are another great one. Halford also did 2wo. An industrial metal band featuring guitarist John 5 known for Marilyn Manson and Motley Crue. And of course his band Halford.
Nice reaction.
I was 21 when this song came out and 34 years later I have a character and book based around this song and theme. Your on point with the mental health stuff and this song has helped a many metal heads get through tough times. 🤘
Sub + like earned.
Just started following you, you're expressions are priceless. Being a therapist check out Hurt by Johnny Cash I'd love to hear your take on this.
Forglt to add... I absolutely love your expressions.❤❤❤❤❤. You so cool. Ialso love the comments while the music is playing. Most people don't like that but you so cool at it. Also I'm a huge motorcycle buff . Love me a loud thundering Harley Davidson. Gimme that aong with this blasting in my ears and I'm in heaven. You're badass. You know whats cool? Y O U😂😂😂
Painkiller is a metal music standard, and a solid part of my self health playlist. Another song on that playlist is Lyfjaberg by Wardruna. You should definitely react to it. I suggest you turn on the translator your first listen through as the lyrics aren’t in English
Glad I stumbled across this channel, she is legit wholesome content :). Love the dance moves.
one of the best metal songs ever!!!!
I come here for Taylor's awkward metal dancing as much as anything sometimes lol.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Super reaction 😅..... welcome to the world of Judas Priest 🔥🔥🔥 check out Desert Plains or Hear come the tears both awesome songs totally different!!!!!!!!!
I put this on in the car driving to work. Stops me getting angry with the other idiots on the road
One of priests best guitar solos too
made me smile so good video, simple as that
Talking about mental health, lets talk about metal health. Metal is a world so open, that even everybody sort of knew Rob Halford was gay, it was never a topic or an issue. He decided to "come out" very late, only to encourage people that was in the closet because they feared the consequences of coming out. So there you have it, another cool fact from Rob Halfod wholesomeness.
They just toured here in Huntsville, AL at the Von Braun Center on May 9th.
Please don't feel badly..My therapist has zero knowledge of pop culture or music either. I turn 61 this year. I am also her youngest patient.
I spent my younger days playing music up and down the east coast and Hollywood. I have spent the last three years teaching her the importance of music, movies and pop culture as an escape from trauma. "Beyond the Realms of Death", "Victim of Changes" both songs are part of Judas Priest's album "Unleashed in the East" from 1979 Are but two songs by Judas Priest that helped me deal with the internal pain I was trying to sort through.
Keep on your journey through the JP catalog. I know you will enjoy it
I just have to keep adding. I am 70 years old and have back problems and health problems. Forget the medication, my metal music and you are my Painkillers . Thank you!!!😂😂😂
Judas Priest aren't even a thrash metal band. They're literally the first band to call themselves a heavy metal band.
I'm inviting you to be my painkiller ❤❤❤ You are a gift.
Don’t hate me guys, but I’ve never been a Judas Priest fan BUT!!!!!!!!! painkiller……… boom 🤯
If someone asked me to define heavy metal this is one of the songs I would tell them to listen to for a perfect example.
You've done it again. My #1 favorite metal song. The drums at the beginning so bada$$. I'm a drummer and I wish I could havd been 1/4 as good as this. Thosd guitars....I ❤❤❤a screaming guitar. Listening at full blast on my headphones. Can't get it loud enough😂😂😂. I have health problems. AND metal music is my pain killer, not the drugs. d
Rock hard, ride free!!!!
Pain Killer is a great song to workout too
The whole Painkiller album is worth a listen.
She's is really getting into the Heavy Metal more and more
And the name of the song and album comes from Rob Halford's (the singer) suicide attempt 4 years prior to that album due to his depression and addiction problems, partially related to being in the closet. After the attempt failed, he sought help and stopped drinking and taking drugs
I just had to come back. I just watched your reaction to Master Of Puppets and just wanted you to know that you hit the nail on the head on that one. This song speaks absolute truth. 30 years ago I was a cocaine addict. Was addicted for 10 years. Thank God i came to my senses and got help. I have been clean for 30 years. If I could get out one message it would be......if you've never tried drugs please don't. It totally destroys your life and mind. If you are addicted please get help.
this is epic o g mental
How long did he hold that note! Love Priest! Saw them live in 86 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit and it's still the best concert I've ever been to and I've been to A Lot of concerts!
Nobody could believe it when Rob Halford came out of the closet lol. It was funny when they interviewed him and he was like did you not see the outfits we wore?
You'll have to forgive drummer Scott Travis. That was a new kit, and he couldn't help himself.
Diamonds and Rust, from the Epitaph live DVD.
Judas Priest was one of the originators of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal
The predecessors.
I have serious anxiety issues (Clonazepam) and this type music helps me a lot. Especially in the car with the bass drums thumping. Gotten me through some tough times.
The mental health system here is terrible, I get anxiety worrying if I'm going to get my next prescription, they'll only give a month supply at a time and more often than not I have to go through days without because it's not in stock or for some crazy reason my pee test failed. Had to sign a contract with the physician and can only get it at one specific pharmacy.
I'm almost at the of stopping taking, that never turns out well.
From DyllonKG: @BeatniksVids This post really gets me fired up because of how bad the health care system is. I am so sorry you have to struggle through it - www.loom.com/share/0a5d4cec80b04b0d95063c4b0360b64e
This band has gone through so many stylistic changes, but even so, I was completely unprepared when this album came out, "This is Priest?!"
What most people don't know is most of the hidden meaning behind Robs lyrics are related to his not being able to tell the public that he is gay. Listen to turbo lover. He is one of the greatest ever. Also one of the first to come out and publicly walk in a pride parade.
I personally consider him one of the 4 godfathers of metal, including Ozzy, Dio and Dickenson
Many of their song sound super gay when you think about it. I mean Eat me alive? You're well equipped to take it all... It's the moat manly gay music you can get, you can see that Rob like his men manly. Hahaha😂
If they made a heavy metal mt Rushmore, Rob Halford would 💯 be on it.
I love Judas Pissed.
I'm going to see them in concert this year, tickets already obtained.
It does, it saddens me that the original meaning of FTW has been completely replaced with 'for the win'.
Лучшая реакция !
Dream theater-Panic Attack is so good I think youd find it extremely interesting, akin to a tool song.
Rob Halford is THE METAL GOD. End of. And with this reaction another PRIEST FAN is born.
This is cool because it defines the HEAVY METAL. Just like that.
If 👽 came down and said... give me a song that defines me... I'm like "OK" press play 🔥PAINKILLER🔥
After this song, you just have to react to "Save Me" by Damageplan, which was the band formed by Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott after the break up of Pantera. There are so many great songs on that one album which was, very sadly, Darrell's last.
Please react to Opal In Sky, they create metal that has crazy meaning and their music slaps
The song came out on September 1990. So yeah a 90s song. This song was also covered by another metal band by the name of "Death" in 1998.
This was a nice reaction! Can you also react to some Machine Head & Breaking Benjamin?
Oh Judas Priest as been around for a minute.... the band was formed back in 1969 in Birmingham England (same town as Black Sabbath) .Their first label release was in 1974-Rocka Rolla they had a steady stream of amazing records well into the 80's & 90's before the original singer and founding member Rob Halford left the band for many years '91-2003. They had a mediocre rise through the 70's but started to get mainstream attention in the US in '80 with the album British Steel.
As a young black kid just getting into metal, I got turned on to them by some friends in shop class in 1982 and then seeing them on early MTV with "You've got another thing coming" video. I was lucky enough to get to see the Screaming for Vengeance tour in Charlotte, NC. been a fan ever since. After discovering JP, I quickly went backwards in the catalog and bought every album (tape) of their early work.
Rob Halford later came out and announced he is and always has been gay and guess what? no one cared.. Go Metal!
I will always have fondness for JP.
Horns up to all the metalheads in the comments. i didn't write anything you metal maniacs didn't already know. cheers!
You really should do killswitch engage broken too its right up your alley
Beyond The Realms Of Death for the next JP reaction please 😊
Hope you're all having a good week 🤙🏼🤙🏼
My fav metal growing up in 80's and now.❤
The isolated vocal tracks is on CZcams
oh by the way priest just published a new album! Also worth looking into
1990 as a reaction to the heavier sounds around at the time
You should react to their song Hellrider
the singer is known in the metal world as the metal god. i think you would like his book. rob halford : confess
I just got whiplash in my neck!
I can't help but think about the God of Isreal with this song. He gives rest to those that seek Him. Shalom be with you and YHVH bless you
