  • Therapist analyzes the lyrics to Enter Sandman by Metallica to discuss the ways in which our fears usually have something to show us about our pain, and this song encourages us to choose to face them to "Enter Night" and courageously face the fear as a part of our path toward purpose.

The Sandman is not a monster, he is the one who brings sleep. He throws magic dust/sand in your eyes so you all asleep (that's why you sometimes have grit in your eyes when you wake up). Is he not a well known character in the US? I always figured he was since Metallica made a song featuring him.
He is well known figure in folklore in Europe. In Sweden we call him "John Blund"

this is crazy, i just discovered you tonight (thank youtube recommends!) but you've opened my eyes to so many of the deeper meanings to the songs ive loved for 10+ years and never caught on to... im never going to listen to music the same again. so many of them tie into my own personal mental health struggles. that new found meaning though, makes so much of it makes sense. why i have loved the songs, likely subconscious tie ins to my past and various traumas over the years. strangely enough, this is one of the first songs i learnt on guitar to, my guitar teacher was against it. to advanced for a beginner etc. but i was so set on it he ended up giving in and we made it happen... a good 15 years fast forward this is still one of my favorite songs to play. relaxes me after a long day at the shop

What I pick up from this song is the intro and outro… the build up and beat coupled with the clashing symbols at the start. Then ending with a slow fade away …. Think approaching thunder storm at night, it’s settling in over your home and it’s passing. The rumbling drums at the start is the first pattering, build up of rain and rolling thunder. The increased symbol clashes are the increasing and nearing lightning strikes…. Musically it will always be a thunderstorm at night to me.

My favorite cover of this song is by a band from Monterrey Mexico called The Warning. I discovered them back in March and they quickly became my favorite band. Their cover is more of a re-imagining and they did it as part of The Blacklist Album which is a 30th anniversary celebration of the Black album consisting of a bunch of covers.
Since it's a cover, maybe it wouldn't be the best song by The Warning to react to on this channel, but they have a wide selection of original songs that would be great for reactions on this channel. Their lyrics are deep and introspective. Their work frequently delves into emotional and psychological landscapes making their music great for "Therapist Reacts" Analyzing their lyrics can provide insight into complex emotional states and the human condition.
Their latest album, Keep Me Fed, has songs that address various themes such as god complexes, fear of not living fully, consequences of others' mistakes, taunting and manipulation, relationships, unhealthy coping mechanisms, perfectionism, judgment, and the complexities of touring.

I think the most common couple of dreams I have are dreams where I wake up at 57 yo and realize I never finished a required college course and I still have to finish it, lol. The other one is related to when I used to manage a Pizza Hut. 20 years later, I still sometimes dream that I'm somehow still stuck doing that job, but in very strange situations, like running a mobile Pizza Hut in the back of an 18 wheeler, while it's going down the highway, probably because I also was a truck driver for several years, lol.

Just watched all your Metallica reactions! Good job, with great analysis!!
I would like to suggest "Radiohead - Creep (Best live performance)". This performance of Tom Yorke is amazing, and the video could be great content for your channel.

"Who's that?" The Sandman, Morpheus, the Dream Lord. Nightmares are the province of Epiales and Melinoe.

You have a very cool channel here. I feel like You're a genuine good person so I subscribed.
anyways... I've actually never had a "dream", only nightmares My whole life. some nightmares have something good in them sometime. but most of the time it's just nightmare from beginning to end. I've just excepted it throughout My life in My late teens and 20's. about to turn 40 and it's still nothing but nightmares. nothing that has to do with food though.
it started out when I was just a child around 3-5 years years old. it usually doesn't phase Me anymore but I always wondered "why do I only have nightmares?". it's still something that puzzles Me but after getting used to it, I just expect it and it doesn't phase Me too much. just wondering if that's the case for anyone else. one good thing is I have them much less frequently, and as I said they don't phase Me so much anymore. about to start heading to bed within the hour so I see some funny Irony here. sleep well everyone. 🤘

Something you need can cause you fear. That would apply to me when I was a cocaine addict. I needed th the drug and at the same time I feared what it was doing to.

Dear Channel, thanks for your work! Listening to your analysis really helps to understand myself. I'd like to ask you to make an analysis of the one song that really helped me through quite a dark period of my life: Marilyn Manson - Speed of Pain.
