Those stock tires are SUMMER only tires. They're garbage in snow. And they don't claim otherwise. With proper snow tires, wrx is a beast in the winter.

He's a crazy man. I had to drive two hours home on those Dunlop Summers in the snow and my sphincter was puckered the whole time. Swapped to Blizzaks the day I got it home.
Do you have the 2021 STI?
I almost wrecked my 15 with 200 miles on Dunlops when I braked on ice. The WRX is useless if you have a mountain road with icy 8 inch ruts.
Are summer tires only for summer like no water at all?? I don’t want to die 😂

I live in Utah as well and just changed my 22 WRX tires out to all seasons and it made a huge difference. I used to watch your Camaro content as I was considering one at the time but I have no regrets going with the WRX.

brother picked up his 22 black wrx back in october. the thing is an animal in the snow with winter tires. wish it came with a lift/hatch, i'd buy one myself. congrats on the ride!

Shocked how many people put all seasons on their WRX? WTH would you want to have the worst of all worlds. It already comes with summer that handle great in dry. If you have snow, buy snow tires for winter. All seasons you're basically making this car handle worse in summer and winter.

Congrats again on the new car, Austin; glad you're enjoying it! Put some proper winter tires on it and you'll be shocked how much it transforms the driving experience in the cold/snow. When I had my STI, I had full winter tires on it and it was unstoppable!

@@1anre Traded in a 2019 STI to get a 2020 MX-5 Club. STI would have been great as a daily, but at that point it was just a weekend toy, and I wanted something a bit more focused for that job. Also, I was missing the lightweight rwd feeling that I had with my BRZ prior to getting the STI.

Live in a snowy city and weighing my options on what to buy.
A91-MT Supra, 2023 BRZ, Was considering the WRX cause of the tunability, racing heritage & how it’s wicked on the snow but after I saw the atrocious Frontend of the 2022/2023 model year at an International AutoShow earlier this year, I was like yuck - what in the hell happened to those cool 2019/2020 designs that made the Subarus a little more tolerable to look at?
So trying to make a choice
@@1anre You should definitely buy what you like. While AWD is nice, proper winter tires will make the most difference.
I haven't driven the new GR86 or BRZ, but it was on my short list when I sold the MX-5 last year. Ended up with a 2022 Camaro 2SS 1LE, but if I hadn't been able to get that I would have probably gone with the new GR86. Loved the 2018 BRZ I had (until it was sadly totaled) and would love to get back into that world at some point!
I got the same trim, almost the same package but without the side sill plates and Harmon Kardon, came with STI shifter..bought my REX last year for 35k, 4% interest rate, 60 month term. I agree with you, nowadays, it is possible to buy a car at sticker price.

The new car market has changed a lot from this time last year. I bought my '22 WRX back in May knowing I wasn't going to get much of a deal but I managed to find a Premium model 99% exactly as I would have ordered it and the dealer sold me the car for MSRP minus $100- that way I can continue going around saying I've never paid MSRP for a new car. 👍
Everything is a trade off- my loan is around 2% but the sales tax in CA is over 10% 😳. Timing is everything.

I bought a 2022 premium back in January. No moonroof, harmon stereo or vortex however but out the door with fees and registration for 33. To have it out the door for 33 after taxes and registration they brought it down to about 650 bucks over a base haha they were wanting to get em outta there before the 23s showed up I suppose. Almost 2k off of sticker I was stoked!

I removed my charcoal filter and dropped in a K&N. My boost went up,immediately. I also changed out my front and back pads to EBC Yellow stuff pads. It’s a big difference. I also changed my tires to Michelin pro sports.
I’m doing the carbon delete and a K&N very soon! Good call on the tires. Excited to see your build.

I'm picking up a new (but 2022) GT on Thursday. MSRP is over 44452 and I got it out the door for 40k even. So 9.8% off sticker. I also got them to put the rain/wind visors on the 4 doors and the moonroof for free. No trade in. Was a few points short on my credit score but they were also able to negotiate with the bank to still give the 3.9% to me.

saw a dealer in PA offering 0% or $2000 cash back. Some big city dealers have 20+ on the lot with 23's also arriving. Though other areas, still can't negotiate much.

FYI. Freezing weather can physically damage Summer tires. The rubber can actually crack. Change them.

I just traded my 2015 BRZ in for the 22 Ignition Red Wrx and friggn luv it. The WRX is like a Hummer in the snow compared to the BRZ.

I traded my 2015 BRZ in for 12K and put 20K down. The GT was 44K and went down to 42K in the showroom.
Paying 216.00 per month for 48 months and a 7 yr extended Warranty. Keep me posted on any upgrades or Mods. I just did 20% tint and Luv it. Still looking into the color match on the fenders and maybe Wing but maybe in the Spring. The Black fenders still look great.

I love that you are out in summer tires in UT snow mentioning how great WRX handles! Even with summer tires AWD makes a huge difference in snow compared to your RWD muscle cars. Also I agree about some manufacturers have way too many modes. My Ford Expedition has a snow mode and I swear the two times I’ve tried that mode I lost traction more frequently. Maybe I was pushing it harder. The only mode I like is sport mode!
Yep! Not the first time of driving in winter in summer tires. It’s spring though. Car does amazing even with them. No they aren’t great but still doable.

Summer tires. I was only a month away from spring so just kept them on
Nice car! I personally like Audis when it comes to AWD. But you could of easily got out by turning off your traction control. That being said good stuff, keep it up! 👍

Oh, the Base comes with 17s all the others come with 18". I got a package 11 Premium. I actually went to the dealership to order a base but they worked with me on the Premium with 6 miles on it.

I can’t believe they still sell the stock Dunlops in places that get real winter weather. That’s a hazard. I put all-weather tires on my 22 almost right away lol.

Dealers around houston are offering 1500 off the sticker on premiums. Interest rates are garbage though 😢. Local dealer has a ceramic white premium with the HK audio and moonroof coming . I may pull the trigger if my wife likes the numbers
Premium with the HK is good. If they are offering $1500 off they will go a little more

@@Gonin60 I couldn’t believe one dealer marked them up $5k. The car itself is really fun to drive. I felt the same about the brakes. This car has huge potential for a build. Tunes are making great power too

Surprised on the price. They really havent gone up all that much. my 2012 WRX I bought in 2012 was a base and if I recall I think it was like 25-26k
They have really done well in not jacking up the prices over the years.
@@Gonin60 except... They have. The limited and GT are STI level pricing without even having decent brakes. The premium is the one to go for, and mod from there.
You're braver than I am driving in the snow with summer tires. Those Dunlops are a summer max performance tire. Summer tires become brittle in cold temps (below 46 degrees is what the spec for summer tires is) and can start coming apart. I'm searching for another set of wheels and some winter tires. I love the factory wheels. Kind of want another set with factory TPMS. That way I can just swap summer - to - winter tires at will.

whats your monthly payment? i went into a dealership and they told me it would bet about 580 a month with 4.9%apr seems a little steep to me for a 35k car
I wrapped some taxes in. My payment is around $615 a month

Congrats on the new “more sensible” car but I can’t shake off the fact with how UGLY this 2023 WRX(non-STI) is.
Saw it at the AutoShow earlier this year and it wasn’t any better to look at unfortunately
They could’ve kept the 2020 face & I’d have gone ahead to buy one even if it wasn’t an STI for the 2023 architecture.
