Own a MK6 GTI and a VB WRX. Love both cars. The DSG is an unbelievable value and is well worth it over any stock VW manual. If you live in inclement weather the WRX is the better option but if I lived somewhere without snow I would take the Golf.
Thanks for sharing!
My God it is beautiful where you live with the mountains as a backdrop...Totally agree that tech in cars is getting out of hand...Great no nonsense car in the WRX...
Thanks!!!
Looks like somewhere in Utah. The LDS chapel and temple in the background are dead giveaways. LOL.
Wow, that sure is beautiful. I love those wheels too.
Thank you!
i agree with your point on the hill assist, i coded mine out on my mk6 golf r as soon as i bought it
I need to do that!
I feel most turbo cars feel super muted and artificial anymore. I love that the wrx still retains the mechanical feel. Plus they are super safe. Super great in the winter. I live in Indiana on a old farm road. Nothing goes through it like Subarus do. I think the wrx leans towards driving/car enthusiasts.
Agreed
My 2024 WRX arrived recently and I'm loving it so far! The temptation to go past 4k rpm during the break in period is great, but I'm going to stick through it haha
It’s so hard to wait!
Im getting a 23 in few weeks. How much would guys wait for break in. In the dealership they told me to wait the first 1000 km. (620 mile)
I'm personally waiting 1k miles and then doing oil change. Vb owner. 👍
@@Rudimessiah I'm keeping it under 4k rpm for the first 1k miles and will be changing oil at 500, 1k, and 1.5k miles. Many will say it is overkill but oil isn't that expensive and some testing by The Motor Oil Geek here on CZcams shows there are benefits
Many thanks fellows
Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
I agree and like how Subaru kept the analog gauges and parking brake to keep it low tech. But I do wish they had kept physical HVAC controls like in the Honda Civics. We had Legacy for a loaner and that big screen was very sluggish and at one time even locked up on us.
Thanks for sharing!
Things i love more about my VB is that it was 15k cheaper.
K
Are those forged wheels and what's the specs like width/offset? Those tires look to be 235/45/18? I got the rallitek 1.5" lift springs a couple of weeks back trying to figure out if I can install 235/50/18 on stock springs.
Stock tires and wheel are Aodhan. 18s
@@Gonin60 I see they are AH-X 18x8.5 et35 with factory size 245/40 tire that's 25.7" 245/45 would be 26.7" 235/50 would be 27.3" 245/45 with or w/o 1.5" lift is probably the best set-up for driving in snow.
@@eddievanich you do realize that one inch increase is half an inch gain in ground clearance so 5'9" vs. 5'4" stock. But why did you buy the lift kit and not install them?
Any mods ?
Axle back exhaust
I test drove it. It was like meh. The Golf R just felt way more premium. But for the same price I could get an Audi S3. WRX is still a bit ugly for me and it's a gas hog. 19mpg's city on premium? That's pushing V8 territory. Even the GTI is better than a WRX at this point.
I think cases can be made for each but I do agree with a lot of your points.
The MPGs are atrocious. Definitely makes more common folk pass for the civic si.
@@shredblue8536 that's expected with 2.4 turbo boxer with fulltime AWD compared to 1.5 turbo I4 fwd. You also gotta take into account that you could get WRX easily at MSRP even under it, with SI goodluck with the dealership
@@royaltyallen1162 all the dealerships I’ve gone to so far are overcharging msrp on the wrx. You’re getting less features than the si and less mpgs for more money especially if you want blind spot monitoring you’re gonna have to get the limited trim and the car will end up close to 40k
@@shredblue8536it’s easier to get a WRX at MSRP than an SI. Besides I can’t even compared these cars lol 😅 SI isn’t close to a WRX and you get a lot more with WRX than SI. If people just complain about MPG idk why even look at sporty turbo cars 😅 doesn’t make sense.
What’s up with the plastic wheel arches? Lol
Yeah
Smear it with ur brown feces
Smear it with ur excrement
My two cents ...... Both are fun but the sheer power, higher reving engine and greater torque of the 2.0T R is utterly intoxicating. The R's steering and suspension set up is far more complex and accurate in addition to its heavier steering. Both have controversial infotainment systems but VW's history of electronic / sensor reliability and longevity issues would leave me with A LOT of concern. VW service and warranty support has also been questionable in terms of backing up their reliability issues which never seem to go away. Subaru is no Acura or Honda. They have their issues. But no where as bad as VW. In terms of AWD, there is no debate that the Sub is the KIng. I personally ordered and received a 2024 WRX and love it although some tibits of Subaru still annoy me such as the low rev range (6000rpm), cheap plastic door panels, lack of top-tier leather and some sit and finish concerns. But it's also easier to get a WRX here in Canada than a R and it's still cheaper.
Fair take!
Tune the subie and you can make it rev to 7k rpm 😅
@@RonnyRoiceYeah in stock form you can feel the car really want to rev higher but gets stopped by the fuel cut off at 6k. These 2.4 motors are really understressed.
@@mistamaog which is good cause that means more reliable “I hope” lol 😅 but they have seen to be really good at handling a lot of power. I guess tranny is was not really good on them.
