Coherence (2013) is a decent thriller that doesn’t get talked about much. It’s about some friends having a dinner party and strange things start occurring after a comet passes over Earth.

Can’t wait to watch these! A movie that really got me was Triangle - it’s a 2009 UK film that I’ve only ever see one time pop up on my TV, and I’m glad I watched. It starts out like a normal slasher thriller but nooope it’s a wild ride, and allows you to be as frustrated as the main character (played by Melissa George) as she puts things together. Also Liam Hemsworth is in it.

Another great thriller/horror movie, imo, is Storm Warning (2007). That is about a husband and wife who are sailing their boat, and get lost. Love your picks!
“The Skin I Live In” will be a classic.
It’s very much horror, though the psychological type, and many people just dont like the pacing, or the reveal either offends or disgusts some, depending on their own views.
I thought it was written very well, and works on many levels. Anyone who dismisses the “science” or realism, just makes me laugh, because horror/thrillers aren’t usually grounded in reality at all.
The psychological aspects of each character and the story are what resonate with me, along with the cinematography, atmosphere, color choices, and the exceptional acting.

Here are my recommendations (I know they are older, but I'm just an older guy☺):
SHATTERED SILENCE (aka WHEN MICHAEL CALLS, 1972) - One of the creepiest thrillers ever made for TV. Can a child make a phone call from beyond the grave?
FOOTPRINTS ON THE MOON (aka LE ORME, PRIMAL IMPULSE, 1975) - Italian psychological thriller about paranoia and did a terrifying moon experiment happen?
SECRET WINDOW (2004) - Stephen King film that I really like, thanks to Johnny Depp's performance.
CRY_WOLF (2005) - This film gets hated on for not being "horror" and I agree. It's not horror but a twisted thriller about love and obsession. From that perspective, I think it is a really clever story.

I think a spanish movie called "Tesis" from 1996 should get more recognition. If you like movies about snuff movies this is a must.

We just watched The Imposter. Good flick, not though, reminded us quite a bit of Catch Me If You Can. A shame Bourdin couldn’t have put his amazing intellect to a better use. Love your lists! Always interesting recommendations.

@@spookyastronauts OMG! Do you know which video it was? I'm a lost recent subscriber that's all. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of books so haven't read it. Absolutely love your videos by the way, I have discovered so many underground movies that as a horror fan I'm ashamed I didn't know about earlier haha. Thanks so much for providing catch up content during isolating times like this, you have rekindled my love for movies and I can't express how much that means.

Scratch that, just found your video on the book and the film. I do feel as though the differences you pointed out could have improved the film a lot. I quite liked the film although it's nowhere near my favourite zombie film. Glad i got to hear an opinion from someone that isn't an avid zombie fan, thanks. Can't wait to find more films from you and maven to add to my watch list.

  • @thefilmgeekcollective4959

I think that, even though Bad Boy Bubby isn't really horror or thriller, that's one no one seems to talk about. But also, and you've probably heard of this film, but the scariest film in my opinion is Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Despite it being Michael Rooker's first film, no one ever talks about it! But it just feels so real! Oh, and there's this Japanese film that's closer to horror, and that is Tetsuo: The Iron Man. Creepy stuff! And finally, I'll just casually mention I was the 666th like. But also, I've been watching this channel for a while and you always put out quality content. Well done, keep up the good work!

Another excellent list, and I'm so excited to check out *_Magic Magic_* and *_The Imposter_* now.
Here's some other unsettling thrillers I think are well worth your time. Granted, not all of them are in the "underrated" category, but they all deserve to be more widely discussed:
*_The Honeymoon Killers_* (Leonard Kastle, 1970)
*_The House That Jack Built_* (Lars von Trier, 2018)
*_We Need To Talk About Kevin_* (Lynne Ramsay, 2011)
*_Goodnight Mommy (Ich seh, Ich seh)_* (2014, Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala)
    *_The Nightingale_* (2019, Jennifer Kent)
    *_Safe_* (1995, Todd Haynes)
    *_Hard Candy_* (2005, David Slade)
    *_Dead Ringers_* (1988, David Cronenberg)
*_The Act of Killing (Jagal)_* (2012, Joshua Oppenheimer and Christine Cynn)
    *_Private Parts_* (1972, Paul Bartel)
    *_The Baby_* (1973, Ted Post)
    *_Unsane_* (2018, Steven Soderbergh)
Oh, and *_The Skin I Live In_* is an absolute masterpiece, but how could you leave out that it's written and directed by the mighty Pedro Almodoóvar! ;o)

I just got caught up in the excitement of listing the ones that make me flinch. Movies that push an audience into that perfect area where dread and adrenaline combine are just such a thrill. And we're in a golden age of psychological horror, in my opinion. Beautifully crafted films that pack a wallop. Whee!

Thought i should mention it just in case :) Great video though, I need more thrillers to add to my watchlist! Also The Skin I Live In was fuuuucked. I highly recommend the disturbing and tragic French horror movie called "In My Skin", or "Dans Ma Peau" from 2002. It's the tale of a woman who cuts her leg by accident and then starts to obsessively pick at the wound and it doesn't stop there. It goes MUCH further and very graphically so. It details her descent into self-mutilation and eventual madness.

I really enjoy your videos and I have found that I agree with Most of your good taste in horror (You tend to stay away from "common-folk" or "entry-level" horror). "Hereditary" in my opinion is an "entry level" horror movie not really made for real horror fandom. (I mention that movie because I have seen some other horror reviewers treat that movie as if it was scary or something. Another girl listed "Martyrs" as a horror movie that went too far but then in another video listed one of the "Annabelle" movies as a recommendation. Anyways keep up the good work. I trust your taste in good quality horror films. (horror is supposed to be disturbing in some way, not comforting, we all watch it for the thrill) Thanks!

Rosy (2018) Is an incredible stalker thriller flick that got almost zero attention from the press upon its release, i don’t even believe it got a theatrical release. which is crazy to think about, since it’s stars actors like Johnny Knoxville and Nat Wolff (brother of Alex!). the film unfolds its characters in a seriously disturbing manner, pacing and tone (and soundtrack) is very reminiscent of films like Twisted Nerve from the 60s & 70s. serious must watch.
