- Patrick Mahomes played in his own Michael Jordan flu game, sending the Kansas City Chiefs back to the Super Bowl with a 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Mahomes played through a high ankle sprain and finished with 326 yards and two touchdowns. He even set up the Harrison Butker game-winning field goal in the fourth quarter. Chiefs fan for 55 years here. PM15 deserves all the accolades he's getting for this win. Make no mistake. To me, though, having watched hundreds of Chiefs games ... This was the greatest TEAM win I have ever seen in the history of the Chiefs franchise. Yes, PM15 is the master conductor, but 45 OTHER guys had to step their game up, and they did.
This was the best Chiefs defense i had seen in years. Chris Jones played like the DPOY.
We as chiefs fans through the 80's when they were terrible, through the 90's and early 2000's where they were just good enough to break our hearts, the post vermeil to the beginning of the Reid era was embarrassing. Mahomes is redemption for drafting Blackledge over Marino and Kelly in 1983. We are currently living in the golden age of KC Chiefs football and we've waited a long time for it.

During the final drive, Mahomes completed a pass to a WR with more tackles than receptions in his career!
Chiefs fans already know this, but for the other fanbases, the most unheralded person in the Chiefs organization has got to be GM Brett Veach. He is a master at working the salary cap, drafts very well, sees a problem and immediately addresses it....totally the rebuilt O-line after the Superbowl LIV debacle, when due to injury that O-line was pretty much held together with baling wire and bubblegum....and put together a supporting cast after Tyreek Hill was traded away. And the Chiefs got an absolute haul of draft picks from the Dolphins in that trade. Everyone was saying how Mahomes would be exposed without Tyreek, how the Chiefs wouldn't win the AFC West, blah, blah, blah.....Chiefs had the hardest schedule in the league (based on opponents' win % from 2021).....and the Chiefs merely go on to win 14 out of 17 games, and Mahomes passed for ~5,200 yards. Tyreek who?? It's almost like nobody expected HC Andy Reid and/or GM Veach to revamp the offense in the absence of Hill and the addition of new WRs from free agency or the draft, or something.
Also add the number of rookies on D. The last draft class won us the game with key plays in the 4th qtr
They learned the hard way this season to never count this Franchise out!! Veach doesn't get the flowers he should but his bouquet is coming soon it seems like!! There is a possibility KC doesn't have the 3 WRs who got hurt, but with Kelce, McKinnon, MVS, Fortson, Watson, Moore, Bell, and a couple more no name guys .....Mahomes and his mighty Chiefs can hoist the Lombardi next month, all the D has to do is play like they did in this game!!!!

Acho is correct. Chris jones, Frank clark and Kelce are older. He had no tyreek hill and at the start of the season people questioned could they compete. He had no wide receivers [juju,, toney] out, Harldly any running back and still he balled with rookies packeko, sky moore and kent. HE DID IT ALL ON ONE LEG. ONE LEG. He is doing most of it on his own.

I think for people to really remember this game 15 years from now the Chiefs need to win the Super Bowl. People wouldn't remember the Jordan flu game if they had lost the Finals that year. The Chiefs win last year against Buffalo was extremely exciting in the moment, but if the Chiefs had gone on to win the Super Bowl it would probably be remembered as the greatest playoff game in history. Chiefs need to finish in two weeks.
