Mahomes deserves all the praise. All year long the media tried to convince us that Burrow/Allen had surpassed him. 5 years, 5 title games, 3 SB appearances, and 2 MVPs. That’s Madden create a player kind of stuff

The way I look at it is Cincinnati only beat the Chiefs one time when it really mattered. The other 2 games were regular season which only had a 6 point differential.

The problem is that the NFL is in a transitional period. Running QBs went out of vogue in the 50s. Now they are a thing again. Jackson. Hurts. Fields. Meanwhile you have talented pocket passers who can scramble (a la Fran Tarkington (60s-70s) or Steve Young (90s)). Allen. Burrow. Lawrence.
The closest we've ever seen to Mahomes is maybe Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick, or Cam Newton. Although; even those three were more "running" QBs.
Running QBs have rarely made it to the SB in the modern era. When they have, they have lost to "traditional pocket passers." This creates the impression that pocket passers > scramblers.
There is nothing new in football. Everything we see has been done before -- including jump passes and ally oop throws to receivers who can out-jump defenders. Defenses move from the 4-3 to the 3-4, both which come from the same 5-2 ancestor.
Mahomes is transitioning us back to a 1950s style of "athletic QB" but mixed with the West Coast offense.
This is why Andy Reid looks at old college plays from the 30's and 40's where deception was used because the forward pass was not refined. But it fits Mahomes's athleticism.
This transition from "traditional" (1960s to present) styles to "foundational" (1950s and before) is fun to watch. It's also hard for "modernists" to see that the "archaic" style of football is -- for the time -- equal or superior to stats-based analytics.

Fans who use refs as excuses have just been part of a team's losing culture for too long ... it's a coping mechanism. Poor officiating is just part of the game, and the best teams win despite bad calls going against them.

Funny thing, the controversial 4th quarter holding and extra play calls on the Chiefs resulted in nothing, no yards gained, both times, punted away. So, they meant nothing to the game. The late hit on Mahomes at the very end was clearly a late hit, no question, as the Bengel's were frustrated. Chiefs clearly won, fair and square.
Finally somebody said
There were a lot of no-calls made in this game for Cinci. I'm not even a Bengals fan and could see they were favoring KC. Burrows gets hit late and no roughing the passer call, Chris Jones had hands to the face at least 6 times throughout that game and no calls. No intentional grounding was called on Mahomes when he was clearly in the pocket and the ball doesn't make it back to the line of scrimmage and no receiver in the area, a clear block in the back on the late punt return on KC, and no call. Two of the best defensive guys got held on the last run that caused the late hit. NFL doesn't hide it anymore, it's about money and who will draw the biggest audience.
What about the obvious missed calls and block in the back on the punt return.
Not to mention a holding call did take a KC TD off the board and wiped out another Chiefs' pick of Burrow's.

The only time there was an issue last night, the ball didn't lie and Chiefs punted. That was the furthest extent of bad officiating. Everything else was confirmed to be true and it was a great use of replay all night. Stephen A, Bengals fans, cope. The Chiefs didn’t trail at any point, they won the turnover battle, they had more total yards, led time of possession by 5+ minutes and sacked Burrow 5 times. The Chiefs absolutely earned that win. Plus obliterated with injuries on top of that. All I'm hearing is excuses.
