  • This video will show you how to remove the Upper A Pillar Trims from your Audi A4, S4 or RS4 (B6 and B7) 2001-2008. Saloon (sedan) and Avant (estate) models.
    This is essential if you need to replace the A pillar trim, or if you are performing a headlining upgrade (for example changing your light grey headlining to black).
    The A Pillar Trim is the first of the headlining trims to be removed.
    This video shows how to do it properly without damaging the trims. Check it out!

    No need to disable the airbag/disconnect the battery. The curtain airbag lives under the pillar trims, but is not attached to the trim in any way.
    The plastic screw cover with the AIRBAG logo is just a cover to advise an airbag lives below it. It's literally just a screw cover.
    As always, as you're not working on the airbag, but are working around one, always be careful and sensible. You don't want to damage the airbag or put s screwdriver through it etc, so just go steady. But no, you should not need to disconnect it for the A Pillar Trim.

      @vi_EviL_iv Před 8 lety +1

      just to be on thr safe side though, can I disconnect the battery and take it out, than wait a few minutes to drain the power? I gotta removed my headliner to put dynamat and dynaliner, just dont want to set off the air bags at all. thanks in advance. great video by the way

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 8 lety +2

      Yes, that's no problem. If you're more comfortable disconnecting the battery to work around the airbag area's then not a problem.
      Disconnect neutral (black) first, then red (positive) from the battery. Allow at least 5 minutes for the onboard systems to power down and you'll be good to go.
      Remember you'll need your stereo code (most likely) for when you reconnect the battery.

      Yes, indeed. As explained in the info below that video, CZcams ended their paid content service in Feb 2018. We are launching our own website shortly which will allow our viewers to once again get access to our more complex and in-depth 'Project Videos'.
      We were hoping that the website would be ready by late June 2018. We should not be too far off of that to be fair, so not long to go!

    Great video very helpful. I am replacing the B7 Avant aerial with a dab aerial. Do you have instructions on how to remove the mid and rear pillars to access the Aerial cables?

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 8 lety

      Thank you - glad you liked it :-)
      Yes, we have filmed the complete headlining and pillar trims removal and will be uploading them soon, along with a playlist compiling all of the component parts for people doing a complete headlining change.
      There's also a correct order, for example to remove the B pillar trim you must remove the A pillar trim first. That will be covered in detail in those video's as well.
      And of course saloon and avant become very different after the B pillars :-)
      I noted you subscribed - many thanks! You'll receive notifications from CZcams now whenever we add a new video, so keep your eyes peeled...
      For the DAB aerial, it depends on where you want to install it, and what type of aerial it is etc. You may not need to access the original aerial cales depending on how you intend to install.

    • @LeithKemon
      @LeithKemon Před 8 lety

      Thank you for your very quick reply and great amount of information. The aerial I have is a Dab roof mounted one to replace the original. I will use the new one for dab/fm, and purchase a gps puck for the sat nav. I struggled yesterday to access the aerial cable connections behind the rear passenger side pillar. Do I need to remove the a, b and C pillars to get to the correctly. I will then run a new dab cable through the car and also pick up 12v somewhere for the new aerial. I woudl love to wait for your next videos but ive started to take things apart already . Thanks in advance! (i will still watch your videos and like them)

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 8 lety

      Hey there. No problem :-)
      It's a bit off-topic to discuss here on this video TBH, but I think the route you're taking is the best. I'd install the sat nav fakra aerial above the glovebox personally (as in remove the glove box and install under the dash).
      For the rear aerial I'm not sure if you have an avant or saloon? I removed an avant aerial just a few days ago actually. There were two plugs on he aerial. One came down the rear pillar and connected in behind the side wall in the boot (left side of the car), and the other was much shorter and attached (from memory) before the start of the pillar on the right side.
      You also need to drop the headlining panel to replace the aerial, although on the avant you can drop the rear down enough just removing the rear pillar trims to get your hand in which saves a lot of work.
      Best of luck with the upgrade!

      @TotalTechnik  Před 7 lety

      Hey there! Actually yes!
      We have been asked numerous times for a good complete headlining video. We have now produced one, and are in the process of uploading to CZcams. So this should be available within the next couple of days...
      If you subscribe to our CZcams channel you will receive an automated notification each time we add a new video.
      The headlining video is part of a new Total Technik PROJECT series that we intend to produce. These are very in-depth and cover EVERYTHING needed to complete a task. For example, I know that the headlining video is running around 1hr 10 minutes!!!!!
      The PROJECT series will be paid content, so you will need to pay to access the video. BUT hopefully you should find it exceptional value, especially compared to getting a garage to undertake the work for you at £250+!!!
      Keep an eye open, the need headlining PROJECT video will be appearing very soon indeed!!!

    • @loganseelye4637

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 7 lety

      It's actually one big video. It will run around 1hr 10 minutes.
      Once you buy it then the video stays in your CZcams account so can watch it as many times as you want/need indefinitely.
      I'm not certain on the price yet, but for the amount of content it will be very cheap indeed!
      You'll certain save hundreds of pounds/dollars compared to getting a garage to do it for you.
      I'd guess sub £10/$15, but I'm not certain on the final figure.

      We will also be including that video (as well as this one) in a CZcams Playlist which will show the removal of each part in the correct order (very useful if you are doing a full headlining change).
      But it will be some weeks I expect before these are uploaded (we have an upload schedule and already LOTS of videos to be uploaded!)

    • @TotalTechnik
      @TotalTechnik  Před 4 lety

      The answer is yes... and no. It has been done as an upgrade many times. However the B6 is a single stage airbag, and the B7 is a dual stage airbag. So there is some uncertainanty as to whether or not a dual stage airbag wired into a single stage system will actually deploy correctly in an accident. So from a safety perspective, it's probably not worth the gamble. They do look great though!!
