  • Leaving one's country to practice abroad is never an easy decision, and we are often left worrying if we have done the right thing. There are a lot of considerations to be made, plans to be thought of, and worries to be (rightly!) had. So Dr. Ibrahim thought perhaps it would be of use to those in a similar predicament as he once was to understand his reasons and why he felt it necessary to leave Bangladesh in order to pursue his career as a doctor in the UK.
Many international medical graduates may find overlap or commonalities in what he talks about, and we hope that it helps you all come to a decision, what ever that may be!

Amidst all the oohs and ahs and escalation of prep-works going around regarding the 45th BCS exam (where 800+ plus doctors are to be appointed) among my peers , Its so reassuring for me to see that these are the exact same points which made me decide to take the PLAB route. It has only been more than a month into my internship and by the grace of The Almighty I have passed my OET recently and looking forward to take the PLAB 1 exam on Nov 2023. I cannnot thank you and Dr. Ibreez enough for all the help and info that I got from " Road to UK". Keep up the good work vaia. ❤️

Is coming to uk for full training till consultant and returning to your home country (india for me) a viable option? Are they any hurdles put from uk's training system or in general do you see any downsides of choosing this path?

I totally understand with the favoritism and rat race. That's what been happening in Malaysia. I have been loyal my job and the medical association here and after 5 years in the same department applying for masters every single year and got rejected every single year, that's what changed my mind and make me want to migrate to the UK so bad.

I'm turning 33 and have a masters in public health and community medicine. I want to work in the UK i know the steps overall, but the details that make up the decision, as the total costs of the journey,, the nature of the job regarding the age and personality of a candidate. Specially the total costs , and my age are my issues now , and searching for specific data that you really need is very exhausting

I am a medical student in England and am thinking of countries to move to many years down the line after I become a consultant. I was wondering what it’s like to live in Bangladesh as a consultant? Is the money good, can you establish your own private practice, how much money do you need to have a nice life in Bangladesh, what is the work life balance like for a consultant?

Hello Doctor. I have a question: If I am able to do get my OET results by March 16 GMC register by then would it be realistic to do book my PLAB 1 on November?
I can book an earlier English exam which gives me my results by late Febuary (but it would be inconvenient) would that make a difference?

That's my goal because I love my home country, and also be with my relatives in BD, than working as a doctor with bringing my family here.

Some people brings out the religion in matters of going abroad which proves their lack of knowladge about religion itself.
As a government doctor working in bd,i can assure u,95% doctors income arent halal in bd govt sectors if u put islamic ruling of jobs in this context.
There are thousands of muslims from pakistan/india/bd living in Europe including uk as much more practising than poeple living in bd.
Money is jmportant but in the rat race of making money in bd we forget to enjoy the purpose of making money.
