  • Latin America is historically very similar to the EU: we share the same values, language, religion, democracy. The EU and Latin America and the Caribbean together represent 14% of the world's population and 21% of global GDP. And almost one third of all the votes in the UN General Assembly.
Moreover, the EU has to face a new global order: By 2050, four of the five largest economies (China, India, Indonesia and Brazil) will come from the so called Global South.
EU might be losing ground: already today China has economically outranked the EU in Latin America, a region in which Europe had traditionally a dominant role: China has overtaken the EU and is the region`s second biggest trading partner after the US.

We need to make sure Brazil is a green country, a green economy, and for this we must be careful before this agreement, said the man from a continent that pollutes uncomparably more and destroys uncomoarably more resources than Brazil.
Honestly, there's nothing blocking this agreement but spite and a stupid presumption of superiority on environmental issues (that is contradicted by the facts).
I'm tired of listening to people like this man, his dishonety and presumption is all that is wrong with Europe. Should they refrain from waging another World War, there should be a chance at last for a deal.

The thing is, as a chilean, we have the feel that you usually "forget" about us in the west and we are part of it, except when it is about obvious convenience. Now you remember us, this happened before, when the rest of europe wanted to crap on Spain (for good reasons) and then at the turn of the XIX and XX c. when it was the latin american southern cone and the US that were prospering while europe demolished itself in senseless total wars. And... here we are again. But well... as long fair deals come out of it, its good.

Brazil, as a current member of BRICS, will only do business with countries that offer a deal that could best fulfill our interests. We don't care about Western values or your endless speeches on how good democracy is. Brazil is setting up to become an important player in the coming decade, so China's deals and trade agreements are our best opportunity to boost the development of our technology and infrastructure sectors. Moreover, it's even more stupid of you to expect us to turn up against Russia, one of our most important economic partners in BRICS, after China. We're not gonna play your geopolitics game, I'm sorry.
Brazil doesn't want (or need) more US ideology. Brazil wants lucrative deals. It seeks MONEY and DEVELOPMENT.

IM glad to see lula into office and bolsonaro out, also got emotional when lula shed tears in speech. It is absurd for a country like Brazil to hv hungry people.
