An absolute beast of a race. Not the longest but the elevation is cheeky and the ground awkward. The views though, epic!
We got lucky with the weather on the day of the race. Started with a bit of clag then the clouds parted and that glorious ball of flame in the sky made an appearence.
This video is rough around the edges what with it being a 'race' video. I'm always a little hesitant about filming my races as I don't want to distract myself from the business of racing. I tend not to film shorter races as my race plan is generally go all out 110% with no respite.
The longer ones I pace myself more which gives me the opportunity to get the camera out. Additionally, I don't use a selfie stick during races. They get in the way and piss off other runners, plus I feel a bit of a twat with one so the footage isn't the most stable.
But that's what you get with a POV video, I'm glad I made the effort for this race.
I managed to squeek in under 6hrs at 5:58hrs which I'm happy about.
Will I try an get another place for next year and go for sub 5:30?
More likely than not ;)
Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching.
John.
Great video of hill running heaven, hope to be there next year
Loved it John...Thanks again for these brilliantly filmed, scored and chilled running videos you give us. 👍
Cheers mate I appreciate that, more to come! 🤘🏻🙂
Great effort and captured the essence of the Queen of Scottish races. My favourite.
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. It is indeed an epic race! 🤘🏻
What beauty, majestic!
Hi John, I had no idea you were videoing the race but am really glad you did. Excellent stuff. Hope to see you out on the hill soon.
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Yeah I was keeping it low key ;)
Great video John. Captures all that is great about the Jura race weekend. I've done it six times, you will be back.
Thanks mate. Yup you’re right there 😉
Good heavens what a race - very well done. I'm amazed you filmed it, even that horrific scree descent - and what beautiful views! Thank you.
epic and utterly brutal!! How you managed to get around that kind of elevation and terrain in under 6 hours is amazing!! hope you've recovered well from it and managed to get a coffee after the run!
My mind boggles at the 3:18 of Jack Wright who won 😂

Mate, that is EPIC! Outstanding film. Brings it all back in a flash. Sterling work 🙂
Well ran mate, she’s a beast of a run.
Thanks man :)
Great shots! Nice to meet you!
Glad you liked it. Nice to meet you guys too! :)
Good effort matey! When I saw the fot of the campsite on Insta the other day I thought, I hope he films this one but it's a bit much to expect. But you didn't let us down! The rough edges don't detract from it either - just like the old vids! Glad the knee held up too. Can't believe you didn't get in that oggin at the end😉
Haha I tried mate, BALTIC! My days of mandatory cold water immersion are over 😉
Great video, well done that looked really tough going underfoot, thanks for sharing!
great running John, awesome footage too
Thanks mate 👌🏻
Awesome 😮 well done , looks a fantastic place 👏👏
Yes, John! I am so glad you went there to do this race. I love Jura. I was wondering if anyone filmed it. I am so happy you did. Excited to watch this video. I couldn't wait to leave a comment even before I finished watching.
Heya Olga. Awesome race, I’m totally knackered still now! 😂 hope you enjoy it :)
@@lakelandtrailrunner well done John, what a mammoth race! Not easy to film and race. You did a good job. I know you might be apprehensive about annoying other people when you film but I am sure they will be glad to look back at it and have the memories of the event on video. That scree decent was crazy. It was cool to get it on camera. Jura has a special place in my heart. I went there before my "filming days" so most of it was in my head. It was amazing to look back it this place on the video. Thank you for filming it.
Well done,you lucky lucky bugger.
A dream of mine for 40 years and to see the corryvreckan.
Weather wasn't too bad,more luck.
Hard to believe someone finished that in less than 3hr19 min
You were 201st
Quality effort whilst filming. Great stuff. Looks brutal. Tried 3 shires route after seeing your vid the other day….thought that was bad enough!! Chapeau mate!
Thanks mate. You signing up for 3 Shires this year?
@@lakelandtrailrunner that was a plan but currently laid up with a crocked back….currently not running anywhere…... In the words of George Harrison - “all things must pass”. Whats next for you?
Oh I didn't realise 1984 was written on this island.
Neither did I! Forgot to mention he named in 1984 as it’s 1948 backwards. The year it was published.
@@lakelandtrailrunner interesting fact, I never knew it was the reason, I thought it was just a random future year. Very clever of him also to reflect the world and definitions being turned inside out like "war is peace".
