Remington 81 - Can I improve a Classic?

- The FN Model 1900 and Remington Model 8 represent the first wildly successful commercial semi-auto rifles, and they were an immediate hit with both hunters and law enforcement. The later Remington Model 81 made some minor improvements, but it was still very much the same rifle that John Moses Browning had designed at the dawn of the century. Chambered in 300 Savage (which is comparable to modern .308), this Remington 81 will make a stellar deer rifle... but its biggest shortcoming is its poor optics mounting solutions... until now....

Well, thank God the changes weren't permanent. Fun video.
I like those old rifles.
You're a maniac. An entertaining, fully capable maniac. What horrors await us next?
Ever wanted to see a 1910 Bergmann milled for a micro red dot? Muahaha
Well Judge...I think even Miss Lillie Langtry would approve!

Interesting idea, but...the sheet metal in the barrel shroud is pretty thin, as is the little sheet metal shim inside that holds the sight mounting screws. It was intended to mount a light open sight as opposed to a heavy optic like yours. In addition, due to the design of the action itself, the recoil is pretty hard, even with the smaller calibers and worst with the 300 Sav. and 35 Rem. I'd think there's at least a fair possibility that after some shooting you may start seeing some wear in the area of the screw mounting holes. I hope not, but it's something to keep in mind and , hey; its your gun. I've seen at least one scope mounted this way but never heard anything about how long the mount lasted.
Well I dont shoot it a lot. Literally did it to hund deer with in deep woods... so far so good

Great idea with the optic sight, but waaay too much & too loud music.
Wrong music to loud
Locate some Silvertip ammunition now! Then you will be all set for werewolf attacks, dawn & dusk! Lol
Please detail the mount and optic.
Optic is just a fairly inexpensive Primary Arms red dot... the box is visible in the video I believe.. The ring is also from Primary arms and the section of rail is some no name amazon item. The flat spacer was something I found on ebay.
