Bobby Hatfield is arguably the greatest tenor of all time. Bill Medley is arguably the greatest baritone of all time. And the Righteous Brothers are arguably the best group of all time.

Every time I see one of these clips, I'm reminded -- this is live-to-tape, no effects. An actual performance, their own voices together. You can count the number of artists who can pull this off now on one hand.
Yep and the electronic at that time left a lot to be desired but most singers for that era were real vocalist

What is absolutely mind blowing is for over 40 yrs they delivered this greatness as singers and yet only now are they reaching a music audience. These two have a Catalog of great music
They were the hottest group going in the sixties… 22 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and three albums in the top 15 at the same time. (Even the Beatles hadn’t done that). Besides being regulars on Shindig and Hullabaloo, they did all the big variety shows like Ed Sullivan, Bob Hope, Andy Williams….. it’s great to see their music coming back to prominence now, but they were not unappreciated in their heyday 😁

I wouldn't say, "only now" by any stretch - these guys were huge back in the day ( actually over few decades of "days") and had many hits. I knew the name, "Righteous Brothers" as a child, long before I even heard any of their music.
NOBODY as great as Bobby , but try Eric clampton, Percy Sledge, Linda Ronstadt, even Sinatra had a great one: "The Summer Breeze", Jim Croche. . . So many, sò many. Jackie Wilson. And on. All fantastic, but God, thank you for Bobby.

I think that some of this is Bobby Hatfield's absolute intentionality, integrity, and intensity to sing this spiritual solemn song perfectly.
They were a great pair! The way the Righteous Brothers exchange pitch or to say vocal range is incredible pitch!!! It is NO wander why they were accepted into the Hall of Fame! Both were very gifted!! 🙏❤️❤️🙏
A few soccer clubs use this as their song. Have to react to a video of Liverpool fans signing this in unison. Extremely powerful to witness a whole stadium full of fans chanting this to support the players

I started to love this song when I went to the National Theatre and saw Carousel
The message, music and their great vocals all come together in this video. Everyone can be inspired to keep on even in hard times listening to this. As a person of faith, it may mean something different to me than to others, but there is hope for all of us here when we need it, whatever our beliefs.

watched them live in Vegas in the 90"s they were outstanding what a show . also Elvis does this song but only an audio but also outstanding, Elvis has a lot of different voices and it depends on the song which one he uses but you know it's Elvis

This was a mammoth hit for Gerry and the Pacemakers in the 60s. It was adopted by the Liverpool football club and is sung by 100K + fans before every game. Whenever he was home Gerry Marsden would lead them until he passed not long ago. Look up a video of it - it's spine chilling.

Have you reacted to their rock songs? My Babe, ‘Koko Joe’ , ‘Justine! ‘ (That one needs to be the studio recording because the lyrics are a bit raunchy and they sanitized them for TV), ‘I Just Wanna Make Love to you’ and Summertime a great blues songs. ‘Just Once in my Life’ and ‘This side of Goodbye’ were hits for them. Bobby’s ’Ebb Tide’ is another gorgeous solo (again no live performances available - there is a guy who does a Bobby tribute live so don’t be fooled. ‘Soul and Inspiration’, ‘Hey Girl’ ‘Let The Good Times Roll’….

That is what we got to listen to in the 50s, 60s and early 70s, by many singers and groups, and yes The Righteous Brothers had range, touch and power. Sadly most of the music in the 90s and since is aided, not natural,,, Try The Crests and the Brooklyn Bridge, lead singer of both groups is Johnny Maestro. Many female singers and groups had the same range, touch and power,,, a magical era.
As perfect as Bobby Hatfield’s voice is, there is something abt the way Gerry Rafferty sings it, in the more we’ll known version.
It’s like he feels the pain, the hope, the love in the words, since he was from Liverpool and knows the sorrow and fight behind their (now) meaning. IE The Hillsboro 97

Firstly, for once your “hiding screen” was in harmony with the song-stormy raindrops! Also, toward the end of the song the melody line was completely lost, replaced by harmonies. Don’t like that as it disrespects the original songwriter. I have heard these men perform many, many times but had never heard this song by them before. Interesting.
