this is a song from the 1945 Broadway musical "Carousel". They do it so well. Bill Medley is still with us. Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2003. These were live performances. No second takes. No auto tunes. An era when singers could actually sing.

The late great Counter Tenor Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers passed away on November 5th, 2003. His 20th year death anniversary will be coming up this November 5th, 2023. He left an indelible impression on the music industry and in people's hearts. Today he is more famous due to his (live) television performance 58 years ago on the Andy Williams show when he sang "Unchained Melody" back in 1965. The performance has been considered by many as the greatest live television performance ever. Great reaction to one of Rock & Rolls greatest duets.

They were together from '62 to '68. After they split up Bill had some success as a solo act while Bobby had lesser luck as a single. Bobby partnered with Jimmy Walker (not the 'Dyn-o-Mite!' Jimmy walker), drummer and vocalist from the group 'The Knickerbockers'. They were together for roughly a year or a little more before Walker retired. Bill and Bobby got back together in '74 for basically another 6 year run but in time they reunited for a 3rd run and were on tour when Bobby passed away. Bill has since reformed the Righteous Brothers with Bucky Heard.

When Bill left because he wanted to be a solo artist (1968), Bobby continued the Righteous Brothers by immediately teaming up with Jimmy Walker. They worked together until '72. They recorded one album together, Re-birth. According to Walker, they split because Bobby wanted to take a break.
Bobby recorded 2 solo albums (Messin' in Muscle Shoals and The Richard Perry Sessions) between '70 and '72. Only one was released; and, due to internal chaos at the record company, it wasn't promoted and, basically, went under the radar. The second one wasn't completed for unknown reasons, but was released a few years ago. The man had the worst luck with record companies. Both are worth looking into.
Bill convinced Bobby to join up again in 1974 and Bill left again in '76.
They both worked (maybe on and off?) solo until they regrouped in 1982. They were actually appearing separately in Las Vegas at that time. They continued to perform together until Bobby passed away Nov. 5, 2003.
[Bobby Hatfield: The Other Brother A Solo Anthology 1965-1970 CD was released in 2017.]
Should have added that in 1969? Bobby recorded songs (some previously recorded and some first time) with interviews for the US Navy's college enlistment promotion. Bobby had been a naval aviator.
He also recorded 2 songs for the soundtrack of the movie Zigzag in 1970.
He appeared in a made-for-TV movie (a non-singing role), which was the pilot for a series that never happened, The Ballad of Andy Crocker (1969).
      😂 Didn't realize I was being sooo long-winded.
