It is no secret that the powerful Thor from the Marvel comics is based on Scandinavian mythology. In the Nordic myths, Thor also has his famous Mjolnir hammer, a unique weapon that always hits its target and returns to its owner. Thor can also control lightning and thunder by pressing the hammer's handle. But most importantly, this weapon is so heavy that no living creature can lift it. Except if Odin believes that the person is worthy to do so. And, in fact, there were more characters that could do it in the original comics than you think. Today we're going to tell you all about them. But before we start, subscribe to our channel, if you haven't done so already.

I guess that table the hammer was on is worthy
That’s what I always think lmao
Lol if you watch at the end of age of ultron they talk about an elevator being worth
I highly recommend it it is so funny!
And the earth is
Well the table holds so many things without asking for anything in return, it holds people’s food without eating it, it sits in the same position forever so others can have something to put their stuff on. So yeah this table is worthy.
no its just heavy if u try too hold the hammer or move it but the legend say the table is a god
With Mjolnir, you can either lift it or not and there's no middle ground where you just budge it a little bit. Cap sensed immediately that he could pick it up if he wanted and chose not to out of humility and respect for Thor
How does that work
@@yoyomaster6006 magic.... but if you're wanting a more specific answer. Essentially the hammer is alive. And with that life it decides who can or cannot pick it up. However this only extends to the living. An elevator would only need to worry about the weight.
lah

@@yoyomaster6006 u can't only be part worthy, if you are not purley worthy, u can't move it.

Meanwhile Stan Lee casually lifts Thor's Hammer and wipes off the coffee table under it in one of his cameo appearances as the housekeeper. I loved that he was in so many Marvel Universe Movies.
... that was a fan request. It never actually happened in any of the movies.

Hi
I love the scene at the end of avengers age of ultron when Steve and Tony were arguing with Thor about how an elevator isn't worthy, but if you put the hammer in the elevator, the elevator still goes up. Lol
It's not worthy it's just what holding it and it goes up and down
It only applies to living creatures, i.e: creatures with a conscience.
Yeah I know but it's still funny
That’s probably coz the person who invented the elevator was worthy lol
The elevator isn't wielding the hammer, it is transporting the hammer. If Thor places the hammer on Loki's chest then drags Loki to a conveyer belt, the belt transports Loki to the end of its run. The conveyer belt isn't worthy, it is merely a mode of transportation. If Thor places the hammer inside a car, Nick Fury can still drive that car, moving it, along with the hammer, from point A to point B. That didn't mean Fury was worthy, it didn't make the car worthy. The difference is the elevator is not a living being. Vision is.
Actually mjolnir isnt heavy, the magic that Odin placed on the hammer was specifically made for worthy people only, but without the magic it can be lifted by people with superhuman strength
We know
So why can’t hulk lift it. I would think that Hulk has more superhuman strength then captain America. I disagree I think it’s only if you’re worthy
@@DanielBuggin hulk did lift it in the animated show.

In Thor Love & Thunder, Jane Foster was able to live the hammer only because Thor (unwittingly) put an alternative spell on it. She wasn't necessarily worthy, the new spell took priority over the worthiness spell.
Throg had a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo in a Loki TV series episode.

Well the lore behind Thor’s hammer is “no LIVING thing can lift the hammer” and if vision is a android it would make sense if a non living machine could lift it

2.Vision

You forgot his sister, Hela. She grabbed it out of the air and then crushed it with one hand.
True, but she didn't actually use it or activate its abilities. In the same sense that Vision lifted it, Hela can lift it. And as we know both from the comics and from the first Avenger movie (after Thor falls from the airborne carrier), "worthiness" is a bit elusive anyway.
@@kegginstructure thor ragnarock movie - scene where she destoys painting on the celing to reveal old, hiddenn painting underneath. she holds hammer in her hand in a pose, where you can assume she used it as main weapon
The hammer used to belong to her initially
My theory is that Cap was worthy the entire time, and upon realizing he could lift Mjolnir in Age of Ultron he chose not to so he wouldn't embarrass Thor during their celebration, which is why it moved a little bit. You can't be like half-worthy, you're either worthy or you arent.
@@Thatboyjared just be quiet
@@Thatboyjared dude the guys who made the movie already confirmed that cap was worthy the entire time he just didn’t lift the hammer out of respect for Thor who would be heart broke. If someone other then him was worthy. It was only in the most dire situation of the endgame that cap finally decided to wield the hammer in order to beat thanos. Probably helped that Thor had a bigger and probably more powerful weapon to use.
Not your theory. Nice try.
@@theghost8914 that is just stupid....he wasn't worthy...he was hiding things from people, being duplicitous...only after he grew past that did he become worthy....best intentions aren't enough....he needed the experience to understand the true consequences of his actions, regardless of intention, same as Thor in the first Thor....
It's correct, check my answer
just to clarify Steve could pick the hammer up fully but he didn't because it was the only thing Thor had
Idk I saw this thing that gave an fan explanation as to why he couldn’t fully lift it. It was cause he still was hiding some dark secrets and the main one was not telling tony that Bucky was the one that killed his parents, so it turn not making him worthy.
@@jradjj2988 I mean at the time of Age of Ultron didn’t Steve still think Buckey was dead?
It showed that he had the potential to lift it but wasn’t worthy at that point in the story. If your first theory was correct, I think Captain America would’ve just refused to try and lift it in the first place

I think the reason that vision lifted it is because he was powered by the infinity stone. Something more powerful than Odin's spell. And thats why even thanos could wield it. He already had some stones. He was the most powerful being on the universe.
I kinda think it's cuz he is a machine just like if the Mjolnir was in a elevator the elevator will still go up
Thanos had 0 stones when he picked up stormbreaker
Thanos didnt even get to wield mjolnir. You confused with the stormbreaker. Anyone can wield stormbreaker because it is not being cast by the spell
I think the reason Vision was able to pick it up is because he actually was worthy. Vision is a genuinely good being like Capitan America
Vision is not a human
Superman with Mjolnir and the Shield is the most iconic piece in the history of comics
It means that despite their differences, they have a mutual interest for each other and wouldn't want to see the other fail

This overlooks the scene in Thor: Ragnarok where Hela is shown to have previously wielded it. There was an image of her holding it as she was explaining the history of how Odin conquered the 9 realms.
Didn't have Odin's spell on it yet. That didn't happen til he banished Thor in Thor 1. Before that basically anyone could wield it
@@sslocke She still held it in Ragnarok, after the spell had been placed.
@@sslocke the hammer once belonged to hela remember and even when it had odin's spell, she was able to wield it in fact destroy it
That's because Odin and Hela have opposite powers if a spell was put on Mjonir then the reason she broke it is because she made the spell inactive the moment she touched it. Because her incredible strength allowed her to deactivate the spell in order to break it, that's why she said " you have no idea whats possible" because it was possible for her to deactivate the spell. Odin said that his children were supposed to be more powerful than Odin himself. So basically to put it in simpler terms if Odin put a level 1 spell on Mjonir and Hela used a level 2 deactivating spell on Mjonir then the level 2 would beat level 1 allowing Hela to wield/break the hammer.
Edit: this is my theory you don't have to believe it, I'm just trying to make sense of it all.
The enchantment wasn't placed upon it until Thor wielded it and according to the REAL comics not the garbage of today it was made specifically for Thor. Hela never wielded it, and was actually Loki's daughter not Thors sister.

Red hulk was never able to lift the hammer but he could challenge the power of the worthiness and knew zero gravity would effect it
Funnily enough In Norse Mythology, Mjölnir was stolen and Thors Immediate thought Is that Loki took It as a prank, he either believes or knows for a fact that Loki can lift Mjölnir In the actual Mythos, so It wouldn't have been unbelievable If the Marvel version could move the hammer
General Thaddeus E. Ross, also known as Thunderbolt Ross, and later known as the Red Hulk, is a fictional character and villain turned anti-hero in Marvel comics, appearing as an antagonist turned hero in the Hulk comics and other media.

I wish I knew why people keep getting this myth wrong. Odin's Spear is the weapon that always hit it's target and returned to it's owner. Mjolnir would come when Thor called it. Also, the reason that Thor was the only one that could wield the hammer ISN'T because he was the only one that could pick it up. It's because the handle was so short that only Thor's small hands could grasp it.
The reason vision can pick up Thor's Hammer is believed to be because Thor used the hammers powers to create vision.
Vision is benevolent in this pursuits.
I guess he lifted it because of mind stone just like thanos

Brain time: Thor is the god of lightning and is worthy to hold mjolnir * shows scene of Thor not being able to lift the hammer
Actually Cap fakes lifting it barely, he was worthy from before- that is the reason Thor was shocked both in Age of Ultron as well as Endgame.
He doesn't
You sure?
faking it would make him unworthy....duplicitous....keeping secrets about Howard and Bucky from Tony would have also made him unworthy....so many things Cap had to learn from and grow BEFORE he became worthy in Endgame. Learning about how his intentions had no bearing on consequences is what eventually got him there...virtue alone isn't enough...best intentions aren't enough.
This was after the Avengers civil war, by then Tony got to know about the whole thing and that was what sparked the worthiness inside cap. If he was not worthy, he wouldn't have been able to lift it.. we know that iron mans armours are having the superior ability to mere genetic modification (in terms of power that can be spontaneously given out without side effects) [proof: cap had to adjust his hands while holding a helicopter, whereas Tony stark could divert the power to both arms or you know, a grapple]. So if you remember both Rhodes and Tony try to lift it, and then it's Tony individually with the hulkbuster fist which can beat even Hulk
So basically, faking it wouldn't make him unworthy or anything, he just didn't want to embarrass Thor and ruin the event as he believed his time would come and plus everyone was trying their best and he didn't want to be the killjoy (being a old lad he considered not lifting it for the above reasons). This proves that patience goes a long way..
14. Wonder Woman
15. Pikachu
Seriously though, how could you guys forget or exclude WW when you included Superman? WW was more than worthy to lift Mjolnir than Supe. In Supe's case, Odin merely made an exception due to circumstances but Diana lifted it after reading the inscriptions. When it was time to return it to its rightful owner, she passed it to Thor just like passing an old friend a sandwich.
Yes pikachu and magicarp 😀
yeah i agree
Lmao
Because
It isn't about DC characters.
Superman shouldn't be even on the list. He wasn't worthy
And the story is non canon
I've never passed a sandwich to a friend, casually. I like my sandwiches.
Perhaps a screwdriver or an ordinary hammer is a better idea than a sandwich.
Odin: Only the worthy can hold the hammer of tho-
Hela: Shut the front door
Hella was to powerful as he said
There are 2 theories for this :
1. Hela lifted the hammer after odin's death. Odin is the one who gave mjolnir the *worthyness enchantment* . So, when odin died, maybe the enchantment got off. So, she was able to lift the hammer.
2.And also maybe hela didnt lift mjolnir. We all know that mjolnir grnerates infinite momentum so hela just resisted mjolnir from going through her hands at the same time, mjolnir's momentum wasnt drained yet. So it stick in her hands instead of falling down.
@Lv-99 TREX then it probably us the first theory I said. becoz if one wants to wield mjolnir, he must be a cleanhearted guy and he should not think of using the hammer to his own benefit. I dont really think hela is clean hearted. She just destroyed the hammer to show thor that how useless were his powers against her.
@@agodnamedsaprkles4838 The Hulk tried to catch it in the first avengers and he went flying with it. So I doubt your theory.
Captain didn't pick it in Age of Ultron because it wasn't necessary. He respected Thor's pride.
Captain America didn't pick it
So, lying to a buddy to protect his ego is a "worthy" action? LOL...no....he was unworthy at that time. He was keeping secrets about the past from Tony....specifically Bucky and Howard Stark....and faking being unable to lift it would also make him a duplicitous, conniving liar and therefore unworthy....
in the animated movie Avengers, Hulk also picked up Thor's hammer, he was so furious that he tore it off the ground and threw it at Thor, knocking him out, great moment ✌️😁

Little fact for Mjölnir:
In actual norse Mythology, one doesn't have to be worthy to wield Mjölnir. Otherwise none of the norse gods would have been able to lift it, they all did some bad shit. The hammer is just so ridiculously heavy that only Thor, the strongest out of all the norse gods can lift it. And even he doesn't have perfect control over it. Thor often wears a belt that doubles his strength and gloves that protect him from the hammer's might to amplify his control over it, so the Mythology goes.

Yeah no. Vision lifting the hammer has nothing to do with him being worthy. That has to do with him being a living infinity stone. He has the energy in him that creates the timelines. Pretty sure that alone gives him the power needed to lift it.
Vision isn't worthy of the hammer, its just that he is not actually alive, he's a robot controlled by the Jarvis A.I
Wasn’t there a scene where ultron tried getting the hammer but failed to hold it
Let me give you the real reason why vision is able to lift Thor's hammer in avengers age of ultron vision was made and he needed electricity tony said let me go and get the electric machine Thor said no I will do it and hit visions case with maljnor and lighting then vision woke up
Vision was worth y to hold it
I dont think that "being alive" has anything to do with worthiness here. Vision is a sentient being and so, is eligible to be worthy.
Vision is an Android not a robot
On the super man one the bad guy is attacking us now
The reason that vision is worthy because when he was created Thor powered the incubator with his hammer
Or because he was powered by an infinity stone, something more powerful than Odin's spell on Mjolnir.
Fun Fact: Unlike Mjlnor Stormbreaker does not require the user to be worthy
on the fifth one you will see thanos when thier traveling i watch this second time i see two thanos fighting
