Conducir Vs. Manejar

    In this video, we compare the verbs “conducir” and “manejar”. These two verbs have different meanings, and can be used in completely different ways. But, the two meanings do have some overlap between them, so both verbs can be used as “to drive” (in Spain and Latin America, respectively). In this video, I show you some real-life examples (newspaper headlines) of exactly how and why that happens.

    I’ve asked Latin American friends and they say they use manejar automobiles personally, but they understand and accept conducir if someone uses the word.

    I've noticed in my family really depends. I use manejar and my grandmother always used conducir. I'm Puerto Rican for reference.

    I'm from South America "conducir" is more formal than "manejar" .

    Here in the Philippines "to drive" is "maneho" its the root word for all conjugations.

    I’ve been using “conducir” for a year since I’ve been learning Spanish and I just started using Duolingo and I was so confused with “manejar” 😂

    Yet in English we "ride" horses because they always know where we want to go. 😀

    Tejanos say “ Tu este manejar a la pinche trocas or do you want me to drive. Notice in Tex~Mex we start off speaking Spanish, but end in English… because we like to confuse the hell out of, whomever we speaking too… 😂😂

    Filipinos know it as Manejar as well. "Maneho".
