    In this video, I’ll show you how regular future tense conjugation works. The best part about the future tense is, there’s only ONE regular pattern for the whole tense--these regular endings are applied to AR, ER and IR verbs! PLUS, about 87% of all verbs are REGULAR in the future tense. In other words, watch this video--it’s well worth your time.

    • @elspanishdude
      @elspanishdude  Před 3 lety

      I know, I really regret not stressing that more in the beginning. Think about how many people quit, or put off these tenses, thinking it's going to be more of the same. It is NOT. The present, preterite, subjunctive, imperative can be hard. All the others are really really easy.

    • @sariahsue
      @sariahsue Před 3 lety

      @@elspanishdude Imperative, yes! Positive or negative command? Familiar or formal? There's different rules for everything! And then you can't even say "would you do this?" You can never do that with the conditional "would" like you'd do in English. Spanish speakers learning English must be like, whoa, you just use the infinitive for the command? That's easy! (I've been in an Spanish class this last year, and I've been referencing your videos A LOT, so thank you!)

  • @Kiohmay

    Hey Jordan, great to see you back on CZcams again! A random question: Have you heard of Stephen Krashen's Theory of Comprehensible input for language learning? and how important do you think it is to learn grammar in the short term rather than just learning it overtime (like a child would) ?
    I tried both and personally I found that overthinking grammar fried my brain and made learning a lot less fun.
    I love your work and would love to hear your opinion.
    Thanks :)

    • @elspanishdude
      @elspanishdude  Před 3 lety

      I haven't heard of it. I just googled it for a brief overview and intend to go back and read about it slower and more fully. I really think a mix is the key, as I alluded to in the beginning of this video. And, the different speed thing is important. At times, spending time on grammar might not be the most efficient use of our time--or even hurt us. But, at other times, spending time on grammar is the way to improve the fastest and most efficiently.
      And, I'm not only talking about at times, like beginner/intermediate/advanced. In your situation, regardless of your level of Spanish, if your brain is fried from too much grammar (which, trust me, I understand!) -- that's probably NOT the best use of your time. The best use of your time is probably to do something that you love in Spanish (the real life track). And, during the real life track, you'll see the grammar in action (get more familiar with it without directly studying it) AND you'll come up with specific questions in the grammar that you want answered.
      As I was writing that, I realized, studying grammar is best when you have specific questions you want answered. Why do they say this like that? How do adjectives work in Spanish? At the beginning, that's a lot of stuff. In the middle, maybe not so much. Then, as you get advanced and want to perfect things, unless you're just gonna memorize every single thing for every situation, grammar patterns are the key. But with fresh perspective, because you're more advanced, meaning you've gone through so many battles already with grammar, vocab and real life stuff.
