    Thanks for the review! I have the Xiphos Elite as well and I wasn't quite as impressed. I think the biggest reason is that I'm carrying a P365X and the holster is massive compared to the size of the P365X (because I think they were trying to use the same size kydex for a variety of gun sizes). I'm 5'6" so its just a lot of plastic in your pants for someone my size which leads to uncomfortable rubbing on my legs, even with a standard wedge. I will say it does a good job of keeping the pistol level and it does a decent job at concealment. Also the bungee connection is a really smart idea. Thanks again for your honest review!

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  Před 10 měsíci

      Yea I can see that. For me the P365X was just an uncomfortable gun to carry, I couldn’t explain it. But it dug into me pretty bad .. it seemed like it had very sharp edges on the frame. Not sure if you had the same experience but I’m also a bigger guy so that could be it too

    • @wtdconcepts
      @wtdconcepts Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@MichiganDad Predictably I think its "different strokes for different folks" which makes it hard to choose guns and holsters lol. The P365X has been a great gun to carry for me and the only uncomfortable thing about it is occasionally if I bend over to tie my shoes I might feel the rear sight. Funny how a smaller gun was uncomfortable for you. Sounds like the goal is to find a gun that matches your body size and then dial in the right holster. Anyways, thanks for your feedback!

      I too have this same issue with the Elite, the first full day of wear I couldn't find a comfortable position because the right side beneath the wing. I'm 5'5" and it kept rubbing the crease of leg and was really painful. I carry a gen 5 Glock 19 MOS.

    • @MrBigblue7
      @MrBigblue7 Před 3 měsíci

      I agree it extends another inch from the P365 which defeats the purpose of having a short gun. I'm 5'11" and it also digs into me. Plus it seems you can't wear it with a standard gun belt unless you take off the extra wing off. So far not happy with it,

    With mine, I wound up removing the piece attached with the bungee cord, then took the belt clip off it and put the belt clip on the holes where the bungee cord feeds through instead of putting it in the holes on the body of the holster. I still like to carry a spare mag at times right next to my holster. Putting the belt clip there still gives the holster excellent stability because the clips a pretty far apart, but yet it curves around my front. And it gives me room for my separate mag carrier. Try it out sometime! Works great!

  • @mistaajones
    @mistaajones Před 9 měsíci +2

    thanks for this review. one of the more detailed for this product. for the draw issue you mention with the belt getting pulled up, i know exactly what you mean... try making the upward draw motion quicker and snappier so you 'break' the retention more easily. if you draw slower it will certainly pull on the pants more. get your really good grip _first,_ and then very quickly 'rip' it straight up and out. we want the retention break as efficient and clean as possible so arm position and mechanics is also important to keep things moving perfectly up and out. if you're going at any sort of angle out of the holster it will cause it pull on your pants more. hope that helps and makes sense. also im sure you've already tried but a different (wider) belt that fits tighter in your belt loops can make a huge difference.

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  Před 9 měsíci

      Yea I just prefer to have the same draw stroke and speed with all my holsters and guns. But I can get past it. I am pretty much at the point where I just expect the pull and try to get on target quickly after the extra inch pull

    I had no issue with my Xiphos V2 (P365XL) but I don’t wear it anymore because I’ve since switched to the Axis Elite Sidecar holsters for all my pistols. I also hate the pulling when unholstering, so I loosen the retention quite a bit and now all my T1C holsters work great. Pistol won’t ever fall out but it’s an easy smooth draw

    • @operator1192
      @operator1192 Před 5 měsíci

      @@MichiganDad I like both the Glock 19 and the Glock 45. I’ve got a 19X which I could get away with in the winter but I haven’t conceal carried it. I started out back in 2009 with a Ruger SR9 which I could only get away with wearing slightly baggy hoodies, then I quickly got over that gun. It wasn’t practical to carry a full sized pistol. I decided that if I was going to be serious about carry I needed something that I could carry in anything I wore in any season so I was highly considering a Glock 19 or a Glock 26, then the Glock 42 dropped. Everyone was hoping that it would’ve been in 9mm but that wouldn’t happen for a few years with the G43. So I bought a 42, added grip extensions, carried 2-3 extra mags in my pocket and wore it in the 4 o’clock position for years. I trained on it a lot and got really good with it. My gripes were that .380 is more expensive and anemic, it was low capacity, and it was really ammo sensitive so it took some searching and testing to make it reliable. Then I got a P-10S and went appendix carry because it’s about 1/2” shorter on the grip than the G19 but I could tailor it with extended mags if I wanted to. The capacity was 12+1 and it would even accept the 21 rounders from the P-09 and P-10F. It’s been stupid reliable. Out of t he box it was cheaper than the Glock, had a better stock trigger, better slide serrations, blacked out rear and tritium front iron sights, and more aggressive grip texturing so I’ve really loved carrying it. There are other options out there and I’m always willing to give others a shot but the CZ P-10S has been my favorite to carry so far. I have been curious about trying the P365XL or XMacro though. I’ve shot the 365, the 356Comp, and the P320 in a few configurations and I definitely like the 365 line a lot.

    Great video. I like T1C stuff, but I think cost does play into why more people aren't getting them. And that wasn't stupidly, man...that was experimentation. They didn't make what you needed, but you know it SHOULD work, so it's a bit of a crapshoot. So now I'm starting to get the itchies for a CR920 once money works out (hahahahaha 😢). I was shooting the 43x with the psa microdagger mags, they did great, but my hand got tired testing. Then i shot the ol' faithful 26 and was like, what am I doing??? Just easier for my bear paws, and accuracy was better. So now I'm curious about the CR and MR 920's. 😂. God bless you and your family, brother. Keep your powder dry, and "Never Surrender!"

      the cr920 is going to fit your had exactly the same as the 43x. if you shoot better with the G26 i would stick with that. Plus you can use regular Glock mags. I love my cr920 but I also wear a small/medium glove so I got small hands. Makes sense, I'm 5'3, I chose the CR920 because I didn't want to deal with slide milling but now that PSA makes Micro dagger slides and the mags I feel kind of cheated since the CR920 has proprietary mags that cap at 13. I also have a G19 and should have gotten a MR920 instead. The MOS system is okay but the actual milling of the slide for multiple dots is amazing. The biggest battle for me has been the 20lbs I’ve put on in the last few years, it gets tough when all you can do to exercise is walk but I’ll beat it. That’s awesome that the light bearing won’t make much of a difference. I used to always carry a flashlight but I’m getting to the point where a lot of extra shit in my pockets gets annoying so I’m trying to consolidate by adding the weapon light. I’m stoked to finally have a full grip for my XXL sized hands. I’d been getting by with the 43X but still had a pinky half hanging off, even with the Shield Arms carry magwell.

      @@prongATO I truly am glad to hear that. Good to hear that you are progressing. Yea unfortunately due to your injury, you might have to focus on good eating habits over exercise. I know first hand how hard it is to exercise with back injuries and I'm 35. But I hope it works out for you. I find that guys with like us with big hands struggle to find the right firearm for concealed carry.

    That looks to be a mid sweat guard holster? On the Tier1 site, it said "In an effort to streamline manufacturing and decrease lead times all holsters come standard with a mid sweat guard."

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes I heard they started doing that sometime last year. I think you can request a longer sweat guard but don’t quote me on that

    Do you recommend this for the psa dagger?

    • @MichiganDad

      Never owned the psa dagger but it is a great holster for smaller firearms. Some of my subscribers say it works well for compact firearms as well. Can’t recommend on something I’ve never seen before

      @@apeters1082 No I had the original xiphos as a Glock 19 holster but I didn't like that it didn't contour to the body. I have not tried it with this holster. I would be interested to see what other ppl think that have tried it.
      I just went smaller with the firearm to see if I liked it more. I love my Glock 19 gen 5 its my go to carry gun.

    I seen this holster on friends and when I went on line to purchase the price almost doubled after adding on accessories and picking a nicer material I stopped the order process as I just don’t think it’s worth over $150 with the options I wanted.

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  Před 9 dny

      @@brianusa394 Yea this holster is definitely not worth $150. Mine as well go up to an axis elite or apx for that price

    I bought the xyphos elite for a p365, and it was painful. Even after removing all the excess material, it is still very uncomfortable. The front of the holster is mostly flat, whereas the silhouette of the gun is contoured in the back. To me, it is a bad design. I wanted to like it ($170 after options). It looks cool, and it's good quality. I may give them another try in the future if they come up with a better design more specific for micro pistols. I'm currently running a txc x1 pro, much better.

      Sorry to hear that brother. That’s how I felt with the original xiphos and this one does way better. My body type could have a lot to do with it too.

    Hey fellow Michigan dad!!
    Could you do me a favor and try putting the holster on over your oblique, your back kind of at a 4-5 o'clock position? Is it possible to carry with this particular holster like that? I haven't been able to find a definitive answer (or any conversation really) about this.
    I'm an overweight guy and don't like to appendix carry, but I reaaaally like the look of this holster. I think it'd work but figured I'd ask.
    Thanks!

    • @MichiganDad
      @MichiganDad  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It will depend on your body type. Like oblique and 4 oclock carry works terrible for me. This holster will work in those positions but with my particular body type it is very uncomfortable. If your a skinny individual then it will work in all positions. Hope that answered your question
