These foam wedges are a quick way to improve the comfort of your EDC holster and also help with concealment. We would definitely recommend giving these a try if you’re looking for a little more comfort and concealment from your holsters.

    As far as the wedges being single use, you can just attach them temporarily with a little bit of scotch tape just to see how each of them fits for a few minutes of walking around and sitting, but not for a full day of carry, because I don’t that scotch tape will keep the wedges attached for a full day. But you can use scotch tape to try each of them for a few minutes and then once you pick the one you want, then attach it with the permanent adhesive that comes on the wedges.

    The foam wedges I'm currently using on my Vedder light tuck AIWB holster have Velcro on the back that adheres to Velcro I J B welded to the the holster. These wedges are easy to change, there's no gluey mess to remove, and they're solidly affixed to the holster. Vinyl on Tier 1 wedge surface facing your clothing is a good idea as the wedges I'm using can hang up on my clothing when putting my holster on with my pants buttoned. Questions: How long do the Tier 1 wedges retain their shape when the holster is used everyday? 2. Does heat effect the adhesive's ability to hold the wedge in place?

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Deadeye 454! To answer your questions, the Tier 1 wedges retain their shape well with exception of smooshing down about a quarter of an inch after a few weeks of use. So take that into account in choosing a wedge size.
      And to answer your question about how heat affects the adhesive on the wedges: we haven't noticed any issues with day-to-day heat being a problem on the wedges. The adhesive on the wedges stay put!

    I've been making my own wedges using a yoga block and velcro. Materials are under $10 at WalMart and I can make 6-8 wedges from the block. My biggest takeaway has been to make it bigger than I think I'll need, because I can always trim it down. Next, I think of my belt as the fulcrum of a lever with my holster being the lever. I don't want any of the wedge to be at or above the belt line.
    I'm sure these are great, but I'm so used to making my own that I would probably go that route. If these were made with the hooks of velcro facing out, I might consider them.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  Před 3 lety +2

      That's genius. We would have never thought of that. Are the yoga blocks the firm foam, or do they squish down a little bit.

    Have you run into any problems with these wedges absorbing sweat over time? I live in Texas, and I do hard manual labor pretty frequently, and I'm wearing an AGIS elite pretty much all the time. I'm running a Trijicon RMR on my gen 5 Glock 19 MOS, and the top corner of the RMR, the corner of the spare magazine, as well as the corner of the magazine that's in the gun print on occasion. I'm thinking about getting the wedge sizing pack to fix the rare printing issue, as well as add some comfort in the area below the belly button, and above the crotch. I just don't want the wedge to absorb sweat, and get all yucky over time.

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  Před 3 lety +5

      We haven't had the issue with them absorbing sweat like a sponge, but they will hold some moisture if you really get a sweat on.

      Yeah it's definitely a double-edged sword. It may provide a bit of cushioning, but it adds more mass in your nether regions.
      A few of the guys on the channel don't use wedges with their appendix holsters and they don't have any problems. It comes down to personal preference and comfort.

    So I’m about to buy a Tier 1 Axis Elite holster and the last option is for me to add a wedge sizing pack. However, it gives two options, standard or wide.
    Like you mentioned, their site isn’t very helpful in providing enough of a description for me to make an informed decision.
    In your video, I’m assuming those wedges are standard. It also appears to barely fit right due to the various contours in the Kydex. So I’m wondering if the wide would be a bad idea.
    But then I wonder if wide is the way to go since I’ll have a mounted light which might make that wedge placement area wider.
    The pistol is a Shadow Systems MR920, so basically the size of a G19.
    Thoughts?

    • @RangeDay
      @RangeDay  Před 3 lety +1

      The ones in the video are standard! We haven't gotten our hands on the wide ones. They weren't an option when we first got ours. However, more surface area of the wedge will equal more comfort while wearing the holster.
      Looking at a few pictures of the wide option, it looks like you will have plenty of room with the light compatible holster. We don't have any technical specs from T1 though, so we don't have any measurements.
      We may buy some of the wide ones because it looks even more comfy.
      Hope that helps!

      Hey Kelby Brown! You absolutely could do that! Sometimes the wedges want to slide around when you are trying to fit them that way, but there is no reason you can't get a good idea for which wedge to use. Great question.

      @RangeDay  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey Kirk Goss! While this was more of a sizing guide for the foam wedges, we definitely should have put some clips in this video demonstrating the concealment this holster and foam wedges offer.
      At the main end of the video we have a few clips on the end screen of Trevor and Chandler using their appendix holsters with the wedges on, but it's not pointed out.
      You can see some other footage featuring appendix holsters with the foam wedges in our most recent Range Highlights video, but it is not a concealed carry dedicated video.

    As much as i like this company, their user experience is really lacking on their website. They give us too many options for belt clips, extended spare magazines, wedge,s etc without showing examples and why the users might want to opt for certain options. They should pay you honestly as you do better in explaining. To solve the one-time use Wedge, I guess you can cut the velcro sticker and stick it to the holster and the wedge for reusability.
