    Put on you learning caps: Steve Dinan is in the house. Steve is a legend. His fast BMWs and quality parts helped him cross over from tuner to nearly-household name. He has raced cars, managed race teams, and now he's back to doing what he does best: building really fast German cars at his new company, Carbahn Autoworks. He's a brilliant guy that will teach you how to modify your car correctly. Listen up.

    After listening to Steve, I cannot imagine why anyone would use a tune from anyone else on their vehicle. Getting Carbahn Stage 1 on my M2 Comp in October and have never felt better about a mod. Side note; I love hearing Steve talk about tuning. This kind of knowledge is only attainable through years of experience and it is very rare to find someone with the knowledge and the ability to speak about it in a way that makes sense. Great show!

      The e46 m3 tunes were absolutely garbage. Literally did nothing but increase throttle response

    • @alexvakhlis6090
      @alexvakhlis6090 Před 2 lety

      Because the majority of the people who tune do so with the understanding that it's a "pay to play" situation, and beyond the "warranty" that Carbahn/Dinan/APR offer, the bang for the buck simply is not there compared to the competition.

      Custom tunes will more than likely be better than Carbahn. If you live in California and hate your life it might work, but you can't possibly think that a canned tune produced in California is going to be the best thing for everyone in the rest of the US.

    • @zadeh79
      @zadeh79 Před 2 lety

      I would love to have gotten one of his tunes, but Carbahn does not offer tunes for the G20 330i. I really wish Carbahn would offer custom tuning for BootMod3, but that is likely against their overall business interests. I would be willing to pay more for a tune that combines performance, drivability, and reliability.

    I think the M5 owners modify their cars, because 1) they are typically mid aged guys with families and they need a 4 door car for all purpuse use but they want to do balls out for time to time, and 2) because there are more M5s than M6s or M8s by a factor of 100, 3) and oh, there are more parts available for the aftermarket for an M5, so that would be the all around platform to build from! Such a great podcast, and Steve Dinan is such a industry expert, passionate aftermarket guy, engineering expert, and a great cool guy! And Yeah, I'll likely end up with a couple of Carhbahn parts too in the near future.

    I appreciate tuners like Steve Dinan, with the knowledge and proper intelligence, to understand the complex relationships between variables, that are involved in tuning. What scares me about BootMod3, is the questionable source and amount of R&D that went into the tunes. I just hope I haven't gotten myself into something that's going to cost me an engine rebuild (even just sticking to BootMod3 OTS tunes).
