As someone who has owned the 22 Maxima SR in super black for about 18 months now, I must say I still love the car the same I did the day I got it. I sold Nissans for 4 years & sold it to myself. As far as the CVT talk, I get it, but I love the power & drive. I’ve beaten quite a few vehicles on the road I honestly didn’t expect to beat 😂 all in all the luxury, style & power still makes me excited to drive it daily. But most importantly…THE BOSE SOUND SYSTEM with BOSE center stage IS INCREDIBLE! I have sat in almost every model & trim or vehicle in the industry (that isn’t exotic) & I don’t know of any vehicle that’s stock sound system BEATS it. Some stock systems come close & are similar, but all in all I love my Maxima, if you’re considering it, DO IT!

Yes they are making a mistake , the Max sales were declining because they have built the same car for 7 years only changes front lights , back lights , android auto that is it . Nissan should put the 2023 and 9 speed from the Pathfinder and Awd 55-58 k price point refresh the design inside and out a little slight tech tweaks and it would sell like hotcakes on a cold rainy morning and for GOD'S sake set the speed limiter to 155 mph owned a 2017 SV and a 2019 SL no issues love them both . The Altima is no match in anyway to the MAX ! The 2016 body to this day turns heads , its a work of art . Owning one never gets old ! you will look for a reason to drive.

For me, the best versions of the Maxima as far as design and driving were the 3rd and 4th generations in the 90's. Those were the 4DSC. And once they started with the CVT from the 6th gen, I feel they just lost that special something. But I do think the current 8th and last generation will age well.

I held on to my 2004 maxima, thinking nissan would eventually do a significant upgrade/redo. Instead, they reduced the headroom to exclude taller drivers (like me), kept the 80s power train, and tried to cover a lack of real improvement with gimmicky boltons. For the altima to replace their "halo sedan, altima would have to dump its sentra interior and commit to a modern, powerful drive train. (All wheel drive hybrid, 300+ hp turbo or even powerful ev). Picture a powerful awd modern (techy) ev sedan shared with an infinity version that had headroom (maxima problem), and had rear seat foot room (g50 problem). Nissan, you nailed the Rogue. Do it this time with game changer sport sedan!

I think Nissan is making a big mistake by discontinuing the gas powered maxima and replacing it with an electric maxima or Altima! I have owned both the Altima and Maxima and they both have their perks. As a retired Salesman from Nissan, I sold a lot more Altimas simply because of its price point and fuel economy. But I feel if you give a good walk around demonstration of the features and benefits of the maxima along with its performance on the test drive will justify its
price point allowing you to close more deals.
There are still customers out there who prefer performance over fuel economy but shy away from the price. “That’s where you step in to demonstrate and justify that price”!!

I have a 17 Maxima and I really enjoy the vehicle. I want my V6 preferably normally aspirated. If not I guess I'm moving on to Infinity, unless they get rid of their v6s then I'll go somewhere where they have a V6. I'm a German auto mechanic for 23 years and I will not purchase a 4-cylinder. I hope they come out with another Maxima and the next few years a hybrid would be nice don't trust the electric vehicles. Would love if they just tweaked this engine a little bit more for some more power. I would definitely buy another one I don't care about the CVT I've had two nissans with cvts and never had any issues other than some minor bucking at slower speeds. A value added of this type of review might have been a comparative between the top trim levels....eg., .the Platinum does not have sport suspension, but possibly it is a smoother more compliant ride especially on irregular pavement, expansion strips, etc. We've owned Maximas in our 50's, 60's, and now over 70 age period. We're not the target demographic, but we like to drive, and the choices are fewer and fewer with this EV nonsense and climate narrative. The SR suspension tightens things up, but going over bumps, train tracks, potholes is hazardous to the male's prostate, kidneys, bladder and his wallet. I owned the last generation SV-SR trim (sport suspension standard). Even on interstates, hit a bump, and prepare to have your head hit the ceiling liner, and worry about a bent wheel rim or out of alignment repair. However, folks may wish to trade the soft ride for the feedback in steering, cornering agility of the SR, etc. My last generation Maxima SV had the electric steering wheel adjustment and it was nice. Both trims still lack a lot of ergonomic refinement that one would assume as standard, but it isn't. Heated seats, yes; cooled seats....I don't think so. The headliner grip handle above all doors is missing above the driver door, a fundamental mistake that shows the manufacturer wanted to save a few bucks at the expense of the driver's ease of ingress and extrication.....no grab handles for stability. Nissan uses faux styling cues to suggest performance or more potent exhaust but it's all for show. The car has basically looked the same for 7 straight years and over that time period, the flaws or missing refinement touches were not addressed. A couple of different color choices and the SR more aggressive trim/black out touches/19 inch wheel/tire package, not a lot to show for 7 years. Arguably, Nissan didn't invest in keeping their top of the line passenger car line state of the art or competitive with higher end sport sedans......they opted to invigorate and update the Altima. Not sure they did their Maxima customer base any favors......we now have another obsolete ICE passenger sedan. At this late model year stage, I'm more interested in learning of residual value trends associated with the Maxima. Does it holds it value on the used market? How is it in terms of routine maintenance, intervals, costs, etc. Is there any enhanced warranty protection? I offer these thoughts as informed and constructive input. Hope they can help embellish future car reviews.

Hahaha, imagine paying $46,790 for a Nissan 😂. You can get a brand new Mercedes GLB, GLC and a GLA. You can also get a brand new Genesis GV70 , the new Mazda CX-90, a brand new Lexus NX, UX, add two grand more and you can get the new Lexus RX. Who exactly are the people paying that kind of money for this car.
