    In this hobby we will have minor set backs that frustrate us and true it’s best to walk away and clear your head then come back to the project and troubleshoot the problem with a clear head👍🏻that cabriolet is one beautiful car I love this project, I was looking for one about 4 months ago and the two that I found needed too much work, I just wanted a cabriolet running project but no luck so I’m just focusing on my 83 gti it’s a steady project and because of this channel it keeps me motivated to continue to work on it👍🏻so Thank You for that🙏🏻I enjoy every video you put out on your channel I look forward to watching the next video and get excited to watch what you are working on. The channel is very informative, and it does get my motivation going for my mk1 project. Thank You. 🙏🏻

    Hello from Portugal
    I told you right, these cars have spectacular handling and a very elastic and full engine. If you've ever been surprised, wait, and see your kids' reaction when they walk around in it. Will never leave the family
    greetings

    Been there myself.. i used to work at a bus garage back in 07. I'm not a mechanic.. my mate had power washed my 8v engine bay and it looked great. On a sunday shift, just me in the yard, i did the same on my 16v 🤦‍♂️ ended up having to get my now wife to come collect me at shift end. Next day my boss and another mechanic dried out my distributor etc.. and i haven't ever done that again. Localised cleaning since then 😁

    Congrats Mystery Garage on your 1 year! Always great VW content here. I'm always impressed by what a little elbow grease can do for these old cars. The interior looks 10 times better than it did. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this and all the other cars. Spread the word...lets get the Subs up over 3K for this awesome channel!

    The real lesson here is let her dry out longer next time preferably in the sun. Sometimes when you use air to dry off you push water were it would normally not get into by just hosing it down .. Hope you let the seats air dry in the sun it helps with mold that you obviously are dealing with.
    I'm not a know it all these are just my observations..
    BTW I love these mk1 cabriolet videos it's giving me confidence and motivation to tackle my 93 especially the rust on the bottom of the windshield unfortunately I didn'thave a donor car like you so I had to order the piece from England.. keep em coming godspeed

    Happy Birthday Mystery Garage. Love the content and am looking forward to year two. Good advice on taking a breather when you're frustrated. When I did the clutch on my car I was so under prepared that I had lots of forced breaks to go get different tools or parts or watch various videos on how to do this or that. The breaks helped haha. As for the car, I love the Cabriolet, I'm really looking forward to seeing what's to come for it.

    Love the EA content ! Such a awesome special edition car. Nice to see you bringing it back to its glory and can't wait to see the 1.8t go in .
    If it wasn't for the Cabby ... we wouldn't have had all the round front end swaps and the extension of availability of mk1 parts for another 7 or 8 years once the mk1 rabbit/jetta was done.
    Plus cruising with the top down is epic in the summer especially in the evening .

  • @ecarasig
    @ecarasig Před 3 lety

    Hey Mystery! Yes to be honest the first video I felt like how you mentioned of, "why did you get this?" But after watching the past few videos about this car I'm invested even if it stays an 8 valve! This is excellent after not running for so many years! Some ppl who have never touched CIS don't realize how difficult it is to get back running when its down for x amount of years. Once it runs its solid, but to get it running takes a lot of fiddling. I hope this car comes back soon! In to see this project through for 1.8t into Mk1 swap. Hope subscribers can see the little jewel here you acquired!

    • @ecarasig
      @ecarasig Před 3 lety

      I correct myself, this is actually Digifant not CIS, but still an archaic fuel injection to get running if you don't know what your doing.

    Slightly different perspective, but catching those dodgy plugs in the driveway is kind of a gift from the car gods.
    Canada with your adequate rego system! I had to wait 5 months for title-transfer/plates here in Oregon USA because the DMV is on life support during the pandemic :(

      I kind of agree with you. I think a car like this should remain just as it came from the factory. Save the 1.8t swap for the caddy project.

    Is it possible to swap the transmission for a modern 5-6 speed auto ? And keeping the same shift knob as original ? Will that depreciate the car ?

    • @MysteryGarage

      Hey Ben! Actually it is stock, it’s the Airbag module, only came in air-bagged models obviously, which wasn’t many, but since this one has the wrong steering wheel currently it’s not so obvious lol. Drivers side only airbag! Thanks for watching btw!! I appreciate the support!!! Cheers
